Come chat with V.L. Locey and R. J Scott ~ #newrelease

Cat *Beebobs in singing badly to Soak Up the Sun*

“OOPs! Hi ya’ll” *Blushes taking of my earphones. * ” I am so excited! Today I have not one but two of my favorite authors stopping by.” *Pulls out two chairs on the patio*

“Hi V.L. and R.J. Thanks for dropping by. Can I offer you a glass of Tea, lemonade, wine or a mixed drink?”

V.L. – Generally it would be water but since we’re celebrating a book release, bring on the wine!

R.J. – Tea, I’m not a great drinker… hell, who am I kidding, wine please… no… not a glass… just give me the bottle

Cat “Would you like a grilled veggie sandwich, chicken kabob, beef kabob, burger or something?” *motions to the tray of grill food. *

V.L. – Burger for me.

R.J. – What is a kabob? Is that like chicken on a stick? *Cat nods* I’ll have that please J

Cat “I hope you don’t mind the soundtrack I have running I have a habit of turning on my iPhone while I’m sitting out. This is some country,80’s and of course Adam Levine. Do you have a favorite channel or a playlist and what’s usually on it?”

V.L.  – I can’ work with music or the TV on. I get easily distracted. I DO make up playlists for my characters as part of my process of getting to know them better though.

R.J. – I like a whole load of songs, and I listen to songs as I am writing. They have to be songs I know so that I can almost *tune them out* if that makes any sense… My favorite song of all time is Like A Prayer by Madonna.

Cat “I love sitting on my patio reading and entertaining. What do you like to do in your downtime?”

V.L. – Watch Rangers hockey or any hockey really. I like to read, practice yoga, walk, play video games, and read comic books on my down time. What little there is of it.

R.J. – Reading and watching films mostly sums me up. I am a couch potato who loves to live in the worlds created by the books or the TV. Oh and hockey, all the hockey J

Molly my terrier comes up for some attention, followed by Kitness. Kitness rubs against V.L. and R.J.’s legs, Chloe peeks around and curls up in the sun ignoring them.

“Do you have pets?”

V.L. -A few. =D We have two Jersey steers, chickens, geese, two cats and a dog.

R.J. – Holds breath as I am allergic to cats:

*Cat takes the cats back inside*

O I have a dog, Jack. He’s a black lab and he’s just turned 12. He’s in a couple of my books – Last Marine Standing, and of course, Guarding Morgan J

Cat “For those of us that don’t know you tell us a little about yourself.”

V.L. I’m from the mountains of Pennsylvania and I write mostly MM romance, generally hockey although I do dabble in non-hockey contemporary as well as some MM paranormal. I also have an M/F hockey romance series as well.

RJ – I’m from England, in a town about 40m NW of London and I’ve been writing what seems like forever. From essays to long handed fan fiction at the age of 12 I am all about the writing. I found MM Supernatural fan fiction in 2007 or so, and I haven’t looked back. I write mostly MM, although I have 5 titles that are MF. I create stories with a guaranteed happy ever after and I love writing everything from angst to drama to action to family… you get where I’m going with this.

Cat: What does your writing cave look like? Do you always write in the same place or have a few?

V.L.  – I work at my kitchen room table. Someday I hope to have an office but until we move to a bigger house it’s the table for me.

R.J. – I have an office. It’s all mine. I have a standard desk, and a wall that I have all my posters up on. It’s actually a dining room that I have stolen but in my new house I have a study, a proper grown up study. LOL. Of course I have to move first and it’s likely going to be in August. *HELL*.

Cat “Your both on the top of my favorite authors list and I was happily surprised to see you collaborate. How did you come up with this idea?”

V.L. – Rj was hosting me on her blog one day and during the interview we mentioned how we’d love to write a book together as we were fans of the others works. That led to at least two series in the works. Probably there would be more if Rachel didn’t keep us in line. =D

R.J. We just won’t tell Rachel what we’re up too… bwahahahahah. What Vicki said, it just happened, and it’s been the best co-authoring experience ever. The stories just flow so easily and it’s been good for my solo writing.

Cat: What is your method? Does one of you each do a character or how does collaborating work?”

V.L. – Yep, we each write one character in first person POV.

R.J. – What Vicki said, we also comment and edit each other’s characters, and we talk a lot when we’re working.

Cat. Tell us a little about this series?

V.L.  This series is about the Harrisburg Railers, an expansion team that’s working hard to make its presence felt in the NHL. We’ll be dealing with various players and their romances, of course.

  1. J.

Tell us a about this book.

Changing Lines is all about Tennant Rowe, the youngest of three hockey brothers, and always expected to be like his brothers. Much to his brother’s disgust he opts to play for the Railers, even though they are a new team, and not an original six team. He meets Jared, defensive coach, who has his own set of problems, including a teenage son that was born when Jared was only 16 himself. Lust happens pretty quick… but love? That has many obstacles to overcome J

How many books will be in this series?

V.L. – If we follow through on all the ideas we have about 35,000. I kid! Mostly. We’ don’t have a set limit yet.

R.J. At least 35,001… We’re writing until it doesn’t feel right anymore… which I can’t see happening ever.

Cat: Will you be working together again?

V.L. – Yep! We’re going to do an NA MM collegiate hockey romance spin-off series, about the team from Owatanna U.

R.J. We have so many ideas and Vicki mentioned the NA series that I can’t wait to start.

Do you write things other than Hockey romance?

V.L. – My answer is above

R.J. – Loads of stuff, all the stuff… so many storylines…

Thank you for stopping by and sharing. It’s been fun.

A little about the book(blurb)

Can Tennant show Jared that age is just a number, and that love is all that matters?

The Rowe Brothers are famous hockey hotshots, but as the youngest of the trio, Tennant has always had to play against his brothers’ reputations. To get out of their shadows, and against their advice, he accepts a trade to the Harrisburg Railers, where he runs into Jared Madsen. Mads is an old family friend and his brother’s one-time teammate. Mads is Tennant’s new coach. And Mads is the sexiest thing he’s ever laid eyes on.

Jared Madsen’s hockey career was cut short by a fault in his heart, but coaching keeps him close to the game. When Ten is traded to the team, his carefully organized world is thrown into chaos. Nine years his junior and his best friend’s brother, he knows Ten is strictly off-limits, but as soon as he sees Ten’s moves, on and off the ice, he knows that his heart could get him into trouble again.

Cat's Meow Reviews That purr books

Hi, Y’all! It’s December, and I love holiday romance. I would like to share one I really enjoyed. V.L. Locey’s newest release an M/M Hockey/holiday romance…Holly & Hockey Boots. I asked V.L. to share a little about  What she enjoys about the holiday season and she offered a playlist for Adam and Cason. I can’t wait to listen!  Don’t forget to check out my review!

Take it away Vicki!

I’d like to thank Cathy for having me over to visit today. It’s so wonderful to spend holiday time with friends and family. An important part of this season for me is holiday music. Music has always held a special place in my life, and in my stories. While I don’t generally work with music in the background, songs can play important roles in my work. Also, I think you can get a real taste for a character by the music they enjoy. Today I have a playlist to share with you with some songs that I feel really capture Adam and Cason, the leading men in Holly & Hockey Boots. I hope you enjoy the tunes and have a happy holiday season!

M/M Erotic Holiday Hockey Romance Novella

Minor league goalie Adam Seiger is a nice guy. He’s kind, cute, and a little quirky (but show me a goalie who isn’t) and he loves to interact with fans. During a meet and greet after a game Adam meets Cason Reyes, a hard-working young man with stunning amber eyes and a smile as sweet as a candy cane. Desperate to see Cason again, Adam does something more than a little naughty.

To add insult to the egg nog, it appears that one little white lie may end Adam’s chance of having a merry Christmas with a new boyfriend. Will he end up with nothing but a lump of coal in his stocking, instead of the man who owns his heart?

My Review

5 meows 4 purrs

Adam Seiger is cute funny and an up and coming Goalie in the minor league hockey One night during a signing he spots a man that flips his switches. The man has his young nephew with him and wanting to see more of Cason he invites them to a Christmas party the team is sponsoring for kids. There is one big problem…There is no party.

Cason likes Adam, and they get together for coffee and kisses, but with Cason’s work schedule, raising his nephew and taking care of his ailing father there is little time for anything else. He is looking forward to the party and getting to know more about Adam as much as Finn.
But will Adam’s secret put an end to their romance before it begins?

I fell in love with Adam from the beginning of this story. I loved his outgoing personality and his quirkiness. I adored Cason and of course Finn and Cason’s father.
The story is fun, fast paced and full of quirky characters. I love a sweet romance and a heartwarming holiday story, and this fills both bills…add in some hot man-sex, and it’s even better!

If you like hockey romance ( or even if you don’t), interracial romance, cute kids, humor, sweet romance, holiday stories and hot man-sex, this is definitely for you.

A little more Holley and Hockey Boots

“So tell me about Adam Seiger, the first gay black goalie I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating spiedies with.”

I smiled around the mouthful of awesomeness. “Not much to tell,” I said after I swallowed roughly. “I grew up in Toronto, played lots of hockey, and was taken in by my aunt and uncle when my parents were killed in a motorcycle accident.”

“Ouch,” he murmured after dipping a fry into a glob of ketchup on his plate. “That must have been rough on you. How old were you when they died?”

“Four, so I don’t really remember too much about them. My aunt and uncle were the best, really.” I looked up from my food to find Cason staring at me. “Do I have food on my face?”

“No, no, you’re just,” he paused with a fry hovering in front of his face, “you’re probably the best looking man I’ve seen in this city for years. I guess I’m kind of stunned to find myself sitting here, on a date, with such a sexy jock.” I had to avert my sight, just until I could get the surge of embarrassment and white-hot lust under control. “See, that there—that is so hot. I love that about hockey players. They’re always so damn humble.”

“So yeah, enough about me or my face will combust,” I said, and Cason chuckled then shoved his fry into his mouth. “How did a kid with a dad from Argentina get into hockey? I’d think you’d be a soccer fan.”

“Oh, I am, but winter in Binghamton means hockey, so I go to the games when I can afford it. I like the speed of hockey, and the violence. Also, the goalies are really cute.”

I coughed and ducked my head. “You’re doing it again.” Cason laughed and I felt the rib pit tip dangerously to the right. Making him laugh again now seemed like the most important thing ever. “Do you always talk up your dates this way?”

“Only if I’m dreaming about a kiss at the end of the date,” he confessed, but I saw a shade of pink settle into his smooth cheeks. Seemed he was a bit of a blusher as well. That was good to know.

“Yeah, that dream is pretty sure to be fulfilled if you keep talking like that.”

Cat’s Meow ~~Reviews that PURRR Game Misconduct by V.L.Locey (rafflecopter giveaway)

Cats meow reviews that purr

Hi Ya’ll today I am thrilled to have one of my favorite authors, the fabulous V.L. Locey stop by. She is going got talk about Location and share with us her new release, and one that I have been waiting for–Game Misconduct!

Location, location, location!

Many things go into a book aside from the writing, research, editing, proofreading, cover art design, blurbs, and the dreaded synopsis. Plot, character growth, humor, romance, drama, action and setting are just a few of the elements that have to be introduced as seamlessly as possible. Let’s talk about setting for a little bit today.

Since Game Misconduct is about hockey, we can assume that part of the story will take place on the ice. There will also be locker room scenes. Those are universal settings for just about any good sports romance. It’s once we leave the stadium that our books become more individualized and unique. Victor and Dan live in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State and I like to try to include things that one would see if driving through that area. Our two Cayuga Cougars also share an apartment, so a good amount of time the guys are there.

Since this novella takes place during the offseason, I had to find settings to use beside a stadium. I went with opening up the book on a golf course since hockey players seem to spend inordinate amounts of time on the green during the summer. But, since this is a hockey romance, I felt the need to include some hockey action. I’m one of those authors/readers that enjoys writing and reading game action. I opted to set the timeline of Game Misconduct in later summer and include a pre-training season conditioning camp. It worked out well and you’ll have some great hockey action to read about after camp opens!

Blurb: This book is a sequel to Two Man Advantage

Life has been treating Victor Kalinski well, which is a surprise for the ginger-haired forward with the venomous tongue. His career is somewhat stable, at least for another season. His relationship with Cougars alternate captain Dan Arou is deepening, despite the fact that Daniel has yet to come out of the closet.

It’s typical Kalinski luck when a puck bunny he shared a drunken night with several months ago slaps him with a paternity suit. Despite the sizzling passion and painfully heartfelt connection between them, Dan doesn’t take the news well, and heads back to Canada alone.

If he wants to make things right and win back the man he loves, he has no choice but to swallow his pride—and nobody’s prouder than hot-headed, ego-driven Victor.

Reader Advisory: This story has graphic sexual language and scenes—no closed bedroom doors (or other rooms) here!

An adult male/male romance from Ellora’s Cave

Excerpt

I found Dan in our bathroom running a Q-tip around his right ear as water from his recent shower ran from his hair. He smiled at me, a special kind of light in his eyes. I stalled in the doorway, my summons wrinkled in my fist. The smile disappeared from his face as I stared blankly at him. He tossed the swab into the trash, which needed to be dumped, and turned to face me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked. My gaze roamed over him clad in nothing but gray cargo shorts that hung off his hips. If not for the fact that my heart was beating so hard I was scared it would blow up, I would have gotten all over the man. He still torqued me up like no one else ever had. “Vic, what’s wrong?”

I handed him the wadded-up legal document. His gaze darted from my face to the crinkled papers then back to my face.

“I don’t know who the fuck this chick is, but she is playing me,” I managed to cough up. I looked around the room, trying to get the palpations under control. The walls had ugly flowered wallpaper on them. The counter was plain white. Two razors lay side by side next to the sink. Sometimes, like right then, I wanted nothing more than to grab my razor and my toothbrush and get the fuck out of Dodge. Just seeing Dan’s personal shit playing cozy-cozy with mine scared me to death. Most days when that urge to fuck this thing up overtook me, I swallowed it down like a bad oyster and forced myself to get past it. Today, then, there, that second, those two razors were about to push old Vic K. over the brink.

“Paternity test,” he whispered as the papers blew in a stiff summer wind. I couldn’t look away from those two disposables.

“Someone is playing me, Dan,” I grunted, then spun from the Schick love-fest occurring on the chipped white bathroom counter. I pounded out to the living room, my feet squelching in my wet sneakers.

“Well yeah, obviously this Heather chick is trying to pin this on you. Big-name sports star. It happens like daily, you know?”

I nodded as I paced the small but homey place where we spent most of our downtime, aside from the bedroom. I jammed my fist into my other hand and began grinding as I circled the sofa.

“Yeah, but why me and why now? Why not do this when I was pulling in the big bucks in Beantown?”

Dan dropped onto the couch and put his bare feet on the edge of the coffee table. As I paced, he flattened out the summons on his thick thighs and read. My gut was in turmoil. My head felt light. My heart still thundered in my ribs. A kid. My kid. I barely made it back to the bathroom. I threw up the fancy lunch that we had eaten at the golf club earlier. Dan didn’t come in, which was wise. I don’t like people fawning over me when I’m sick. Dear old Mom never did. I could handle myself. Been doing it since I was about five. I’d had a head cold the month before and nearly ripped Dan into bits one day for making me chicken noodle soup. Why that man was still with me, I do not know. I retched a few times, then slammed the lid and flushed. Over to the sink for a swig of mouthwash. Do not look at the razors, Kalinski, or you will make a bigger twat out of yourself.

“You okay?” Dan called.

“Yeah, just some ptomaine from the clam chowder at lunch,” I replied, my throat and nose still burning. “I’m taking a shower.”

“Okay. I’ll read this over close while you wash.”

The shower didn’t last long enough, nor did it help one damn bit. Aside from having nuts that smelled like an Irish glen, I was still this close to hyperventilating. A kid. Holy fucking goat titties, I needed a drink.

“Hey, you need to call a lawyer in the morning,” Dan said when I shuffled into the living room in nothing but an old pair of cutoff jeans. “This paperwork is crazy legal, but according to what this Hillary—”

“Heather. Heather Pavlick. Who the fuck is Heather Pavlick?” I asked the kitchen table.

I jerked open the cupboard under the sink and reached for the bottle of Yukon Jack, one of three or four bottles of booze we had on hand for cocktails at night if the mood struck. Dan kind of liked Jack over ice. Did I want ice? Did I want a glass? Nah. The whiskey burned my raw throat like gasoline. I lowered the bottle, coughed, and ran the back of my hand across my tingling lips. I saw Dan appear in the doorway, papers still in his hand. He looked upset.

“I wish you’d use a glass,” he grumbled, then stalked around me to get two tumblers from the cupboard next to the fridge. I sucked in some air through my teeth in reply. His whole body twitched at the sound. “Two fingers, and stop making that fucking noise,” he said after he returned to my side. I glugged some Jack into both tumblers, my eyes on Dan’s. He handed me a glass. We both knocked the whiskey back then went out to the couch, him with my summons and me with the Jack.

“Okay, so this is obviously some sort of rip-off,” Dan said after we’d dropped our asses back to the sofa. Thankfully he’d left the boob tube off. I was so not in the mood to talk over his science shows. I poured myself another two fingers. Dan held up his glass, so I refreshed him. “Heather Pavlick. Is that the girl you were serious with?”

I shook my head as I swirled the Canadian whiskey around my glass. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert’s voices, as well as the smell of meat grilling, rolled in through the windows.

“No, her name was Gina. We were careful. I mean, we were obsessively careful every time we fucked to prevent any kind of kid-making.” A kid. I couldn’t get the glass of whiskey to my lips fast enough. Ah, what a nice burn.

“This is why you should just identify as gay and be done with it. You don’t have to worry about knocking me up.”

“Yeah well, if I could just pick my sexual identity like I do my socks, I would. But I kind of like pussy once in a while. Stop badgering me, gay boy.”

“That’s just weird,” Dan muttered, and sipped his Jack.

I nodded. Yeah, to a gay dude, wanting pussy probably did seem weird. And while I didn’t crave it anymore because, yeah, Dan Arou, back in the day I’d taken some great delight in leaping from twat to cock with wild abandon.

“Maybe you can talk to someone in the team’s legal department. I mean, this will come out. They’ll want to know about it beforehand so they can handle the bad PR.”

“Fuck. My. Life.” I dumped more of the amber liquid into my glass. My stomach rolled and bucked as whiskey met empty gut. Whatever the landlord was cooking was making me queasy.

“This is just fucked,” Dan said after a long moment of silence punctuated only by my stomach speaking up. “See, this paper says ‘unborn child’, and that’s impossible. You and me have been tight since Thanksgiving of last year. That’s nine months, right? November to July is nine.”

“If you count November.”

Christ on a unicycle. Dan and I really been doing the monogamy thing for nine months. I mean, I knew that we had, but hearing him say it out loud drove the point home. No wonder those razors made me twitchy. That was fucking incredible. Even with Gina, I’d bailed at six months. That had been the most solid relationship I’d ever been in before Mr. Stumpy and I had hooked up. Someone call Guinness. We got a new world record here. I threw another two fingers of Yukon down. Dan made a noise about the speed of my ingestion, I assume, which I ignored.

A moment ticked by. Two. Three. Dan sipped and repeatedly read that summons, counting and recounting the months. This was major fuckery, because there had been no one but Dan since the first time I’d punched him in the face.

My gaze rested on the Xbox under the flat screen. Our games were scattered on the floor. I tipped my head to stare at the artwork on a World War I battle game that Dan and I liked. It showed a German zeppelin dropping bombs on some European city…

It hit me like a semi that had lost its brakes. Ms. Goodyear. That blonde with the incredible tits. I’d rolled her the night I’d tried to drink Dan away. Had her name been Heather? Had she said? Did it matter? Guess so.

“Ah, fuck,” I moaned, then closed my eyes.

“What? Did you figure out who this woman is?”

Shit. Just shit. This was going to be bad. I inhaled through my nose, blew out the breath and started sucking on that Jack bottle like a hungry babe. Dan jerked it from my hand. Whiskey sloshed down my chest. I swallowed what was in my mouth, licked my lips and turned to find Dan looking at me with concern tinting his lapis eyes.

This was going to suck.

BookReview (1)

Game Misconduct is a sequel, and though you can follow quite well on its own, I do suggest you read Two Man Advantage first, so you know the characters better.

Though Victor is not your typical main character, he is arrogant and sarcastic I absolutely love him. In Game Misconduct, he shows another side of himself, and I grew to love him even more. Then there is Dan, his polar opposite. Dan could be a saint or angel he is such a likable, person. The chemistry between the two is unparalleled! You couldn’t ask for a better match than these two men. The sex is smokin hot as well so beware there is explicit sexual content and very strong language.

The story is fast-paced, and the plot has several twists and turns. I felt the story also has a very realistic feel and touches on many real life topics such as the difference between gay and bisexuality, coming out, and pregnancy before marriage. I cannot wait for the next book.
