Color Me Naive #outsidethecomfortzone #MFRWAuthor #ageplay #littles

Welcome to Week 8 of the MFRW 52-week blog challenge. This week’s topic is “Reading Outside Your Comfort Zone – what is it and why?”

This came at a perfect time as I just listened to a book that fits this perfectly. I accepted it for review from the narrator and authors. I am familiar with both the author’s work and the narrator and see so much age play I decided to try it. Yes, I know it was kink and age play but for some reason, age gap popped in my head and I wanted to see how age play fit in here and the difference. Was it like role reversal? The younger man wanting to be the oldest and the oldest wanting to be young again? The first bit the main character began talking about littles, so I thought small men. I LOOOOOve unique characters and unconventional ones so I was jumping with joy. I could see the coloring books and toys for relaxation so no big deal right? Then comes sippy cups, and pacifiers. I was caught off guard and like what? The narration and writing both was amazing and the story kept me interested and pulled in. But color me Naive when it moved on to onsies, and even diapers. In case you are interested in the book here is the audio link.. https://www.audible.com/pd/Its-Just-Us-Audiobook/B084P3TR8N? My review should be there or on Goodreads and I do recommend this book if you do like stepping out of your comfort zone…or this would be good if you weren’t sure.

Yes, I read some taboo but not so often and yes it is stepping out of the comfort zone. Why do I do this? Exactly that. To mix things up and add something different to my reading experiences. Do I like them all? No, not really. And a few taboo I will mark off my list and not try again. These books are just to shake up my normal reading, to give me a break from the sweet or suspenseful stuff I normally read and so smack me, I like dark romance and angst at times too, just in smaller doses.

So, back to the question. “Reading Outside Your Comfort Zone – what is it and why? ” I think it is reading something totally different for you, may it be taboo, maybe nonfiction, or Biographies…anything you don’t usually read. Why? I think we all should try something new on occasion and be adventurous. We may find something we like or learn something even in fiction.

What have you read outside your comfort zone?

  1. Every now and then I like to read outside my comfort zone, even though so far it hasn’t changed my basic taste. My favorite genres are still my favs, even though I’ve read some interesting stories outside my comfort zone.

  2. Onesies?? That might be weird enough to be outside my comfort zone, but the writing would have to be darn good! I’ll have to check your review. I agree that it’s good to read outside our comfort area once in a while. Even I get overdosed on HEAs after a while. 🙂
