Cat: Today our guest is the fabulously funny Linda O’Connor. Hello Linda, Are you ready for Christmas?
Linda: I am – I’ve been ready since November 25 haha. I like to shop early, decorate early, and listen to Christmas music early. The only problem is that it’s very tempting to over-shop, so I try to stick with 4 gifts – something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read! I don’t usually start wrapping until a day or two before Christmas. When my three sons were little, I could never put any gifts under the tree before Christmas morning because the suspense was too much for them. They never tried to find hidden gifts or open them early, but it was really hard to wait once they saw them! We celebrate Christmas twice. On December 24, we have a traditional Czech Christmas meal to honour my husband’s roots. In Czech Republic, they celebrated Christmas on December 24 with a meal of mushroom soup, carp, potato salad, and sugar nut cookies. We change it slightly and eat salmon instead of carp but keep the rest the same. Then on December 25 we open our presents in the morning (really early in the morning when the kids were little; now we tend to sleep in), and enjoy a turkey dinner in the evening with all the fixings and shortbread cookies for dessert. I love to set tables, so I set one table for Dec 24 and then change it up and set a totally different one for Dec 25. For a few years in a row, I gifted my friend a new table setting each year – my sons teased me that I ran out of tables to set at our house and had to look for others. 😀 Here are some ideas for setting a holiday table.
In Perfectly Christmas, the medical clinic in Strathaven hosts a Secret Santa gift exchange. The only stipulation is that the gift has to be handmade. There are some clever crafty people at the clinic and everyone, except Dr. Madison Hayes, the new doctor in town, looks forward to the annual tradition. It’s lot of fun – unless you pull your ex’s name out of the hat!

Blurb On the first day of Christmas, his true love said to him, “Sorry, I have to work.”
That’s the life of a surgeon, and Dr. Madison Hayes wouldn’t have it any other way.
Dr. Quinn Malone has another priority. In the countdown to Christmas, he needs to convince his old flame that there’s more to life – and love – than the job itself.
This time, his heart is in it for the long haul. Really.
Romantic and . . . complicated – it’s Perfectly Christmas!
How about a little more?
Peggy stopped at the door. “Oh, one more thing. Did you want to be a part of the office Secret Santa? We pick names out of a hat, and each day during the twelve days of Christmas someone opens a gift.” She grinned. “Technically, we know, the twelve days of Christmas starts on December twenty-fifth, but we use it as a countdown to Christmas. We have a lot of fun with it.”
Madison hesitated. She wasn’t really big into exchanging presents. Stuff you didn’t need and wanted less. But Peggy and Nina were looking at her like it was the best thing ever.
Small town. Two years. Try to fit in. She sighed. She could always ask her sister for suggestions. “Okay, yeah. Sounds fun.” Translation: stressful.
Peggy’s grin widened. “I’ll be right back.”
After a moment, Peggy returned carrying a Christmas bag. She shook it and paper rustled inside. “Here you go. Pick one, but don’t tell us.”
Madison held back a sigh, reached in the bag, and picked out a piece of paper.
She unfolded it and her heart sank.
Quinn Malone. Dec. 24.
