Cat: Today our guest is Alice Renaud Hello Alice Are you ready for Christmas?
Alice Renaud:
Christmas is party time in the UK! We don’t have Thanksgiving so we start celebrating Christmas mid-November. Here are my top party tips for a no stress fun filled time!
Food: Don’t buy canapes. They cost a fortune and will be gone in seconds. Pick a few nice things and get a big amount of each: cheese, crackers, ham, guacamole… and a big tub of chocolates!
Drink: Cocktails are fiddly and take a long time to make. Get plenty of beer and wine instead. In the UK we love sparkling wine, prosecco from Italy and cava from Spain are big favorites. Or champagne if you’ve got the funds! My favorite drink of the season however is mulled wine. See recipe below!
Music: Christmas hits all round! “Merry Christmas” by Slade is one of the top Christmas songs for us. My personal favorite however is “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues.
Decorations: I like fairy lights and tinsel. You can’t go wrong with those. I put tinsel everywhere, including around the crib. By the time I’m finished the house looks like it’s been invaded by giant sparkly caterpillars.
Food and drink play a big part in my stories. In my new release Music for a Merman, book 2 in my fantasy romance Sea of Love series, Rob, a shape shifting merman and cop, bonds with Charlie, a sexy human eco-warrior, over beer and chips (fries). Read on to find out more!

Rob Regor knew that humans were trouble. All the shape shifting mermen of the Morvann Islands knew it. And human women were double trouble… especially when they were lying on the road in front of a digger.
Rob has a mission. Go to the mainland. Work as a policeman. Spy on humans. Report back to his father, the head of the Regor Merman Clan. It should be easy. Until he has to arrest Charlie. Rob can’t fight his attraction to the sexy eco-warrior, and it puts him on one hell of a collision course with his family and his Clan. Will he break the rules – or break her heart, and his?
Love ‘em and leave ‘em, that was Charlie’s motto. It had served her well until now. But Rob is different… Can she open up her heart to Rob – when a secret buried in her past surfaces and changes her completely?
How about a little more?
Charlie sat opposite Rob. Her knee grazed his, and a shudder of arousal raced up his thighs and settled in his groin.
She clinked her glass against his. “Iechyd Da!” she said.
Her smile had something of the lioness in it. He was standing on the edge of the forbidden forest, gazing into the golden eyes of the wild, beautiful beast that would devour him. But he could still turn back. He was still in control. Now he’d sat down, it would look odd if he didn’t drink.
He returned the toast. “Iechyd Da, or, as they say in England, cheers.”
He drank, long and deep, as if the cool liquid could douse the embers that flickered in his belly. Under the table, her knee pressed against his. Flames danced from her skin to his, burning through the fabric of his trousers, burning through duty and reason and all the excuses in the world.
She was so brazen. No mermaid of the Regor Clan would ever behave like that. They were bred to be meek and submissive, prepared from childhood to become the devoted wives and mothers that the Regor men demanded. Was that why he’d never been truly attracted to any mermaid in his Clan? Why his previous sexual experiences had been disappointing? Every brief fling had ended in the same way, with his conquest swimming away in search of a dominant, aggressive male that better matched her idea of the perfect partner.
He hadn’t even minded that much when they left, and this indifference had made him wonder if he would ever experience a true connection with a female. Had he always, deep down, hungered for someone like Charlie?
She put her pint down. “So, you spent time inside, uh?” Her voice low, conspiratorial.
What could he tell her, without revealing too much? “Uh. No, I’ve never been to… to prison.” He couldn’t talk about his father’s dungeon, or the manacles that had dug into his wrists and ankles, holding him up so he couldn’t stretch out fully to sleep. Rhys Regor never told any captive how long he’d keep him in the gloom, tired and fearful. He hadn’t told Rob, his own son, either. At least most human prisoners knew when their sentence would end.
Charlie shook her head and smiled. “OK. I’m silly, of course you couldn’t be a police officer if you had a criminal record. But you were held somewhere sometime against your will, right? What were you up to?”
Her eyes sparkled. Did she like rebels so much that she would actually fancy a criminal? His Clan would have called this perverse, but it only excited him more. It made him wonder how far Charlie would go in bed, and which other rules she might like to break…
