This month we are going to party all month long with some of your favorite authors or new to you ones. We will have tricks and treats galore so come join us every day in October with tricks, treats and a huge giveaway!
Today’s guest is Misty Harvey. She is an eclectic writer that comes to you with her horror novel, Malevolent Mind.
Cat: Hello Misty, tell us about a favorite trick you pulled on my family.
Misty: I was one of those that were fortunate enough that while the gap between my older siblings and myself was substantial, my niece and nephews, plus myself, and my younger sister were all able to grow up together.
During this time I wrote a lot of scary stories with my older nephew. He is only six months younger than myself, so we spent a lot of time together. Anyway, we used to write up these scary stories and then we’d take our younger siblings into the creepy basement and read it to them. We got all into these stories and did voices and such. When we were sure we had them in the right place and they were scared, we would run from the rooms and shut off all the lights as we went.
While it was cruel and I can see that as an adult it was fantastic as a kid. We took great pride in all of that. I’m sure that those moments were why to this day I still enjoy writing horror novels.
Cat: That is cool that you and your nephew loved writing together. What are your top 5-6 favorite things about Halloween.
Movie: I watch a lot of Halloween shows meant for younger kids as it is a tradition that my youngest daughter and I started when she was the only kid in the home. Our favorites are Hocus Pocus, Twitches 1 and 2, and the Halloween Town series.
Book: I don’t read a lot of Halloween type books, at least not specific for the holiday.
Food: I actually like to make Halloween treat. For many years I have made cakes and treats for my hubby man’s work parties. The first year I did a witch with a caldron cake, another we did a spell book cake and the book from Hocus Pocus S’more treats, the year after I did Pennywise and we made bloody popcorn treats and clown cake pops. This last year we did a cake from Beetlejuice. I didn’t manage to do treats last year as I was actually really sick for it. I’m not sure what this year will entail yet, but I do so look forward to it.
Drink: We drink a lot of hot apple cider around this time of year. It is one of our favorites.
Activity: Trick or Treating with the grandkids now and convincing my youngest daughter that we still need watch all the Halloween shows that she now too big for.
Cat: I love Halloween and making treats for the kids or themed dinners do you have a favorite craft or recipe?
Misty: I have so many things I do around this time of year. Like I said, we’ve done a ton of things for the hubby man’s work Halloween parties. This year we are discussing doing bleeding brains as the treat, but that will all depend on if they do a theme for their Halloween party or if I have free reign this year. Here is the link to the recipe I’m going to use for the bleeding brains. I’m sure I will do a blog post about it or any other treat that we decide on at my blog.
Cat: I love seeing your special cakes and treats you do each year. What book have you come to talk about today?

Meet Misty
Misty Harvey loves
writing spine-tingling horror or dark fantasy novels sure to thrill readers.
The psychology behind such tales has always been a fascination for her since
she was younger. Even to the point that she once contemplated taking up
psychology as a profession. Still, her love resides in the art of storytelling.
An art she wishes to continue to share with readers for the rest of her days.
After climbing out of her writing cave and searching the house for the sound of
the latest creak or pop, Misty can be found doing one of many things. Often,
she spends the remainder of her day with her amazingly supportive husband and
youngest daughter. While she has two older children that are out there
spreading their wings around the world, including giving her a few
grandchildren.
Her favorite things to do when not writing are crafts, wrestling with her dog,
avoiding her cat’s bite or generally making her husband and daughter crazy.
Often, she can be found creating vivid tales with her daughter about whatever
mundane thing happened in their day and turning it into a crazy story. She is
also an avid gamer, crochet goddess (we shall pretend there), domestic queen,
and animal tamer (it’s a work in progress).
