Do you Like sexy vampires or hot weres? What about gorgeous ghosts, witches, warlocks, mages or dragons?
This month we are going to party all month long with some of your favorite authors or new to you ones. We will have tricks and treats galore so come join us every day in October for tricks treats and a huge giveaway.!
Today’s guest is Judi Phillips. Judi writes about ghosts, psychic heroines and characters, and sometimes about witches.
Hello, Judi, tell us about a favorite trick you pulled
I’m not a big fan of tricks and here’s why:
I grew up in Maine. When I was around 9 years old, the robins returned early that spring and, looking out the kitchen window, our lawn was covered with them. A couple of days later, my mom stood at the window and called me over. “Look, the robins are back.” I ran over, excited to see them again. “April Fools,” she said. I was sooo disappointed. Now, this isn’t strictly a Halloween trick, but it’s why I don’t like them.
Cat: Awe! What are your top 5-6 favorite things about Halloween?
Movie: Who wouldn’t love Patrick Swayze as a sexy ghost, Demi Moore, who loves him, and Whoopi Goldberg as a psychic. All of my favorite subjects: romance, ghosts and psychics.
Book: Candy Corn Crime (An Oh Fudge! Cozy Mystery Series Book 2) This is a fun cozy mystery with mix-ups and mayhem as a small town gears up for Halloween.
Food: Candy corn. Much too sweet for the rest of the year, but love, love, love it during October
Drink: Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
Activity: Handing out candy to trick or treaters
Cat: I love Halloween and making treats for the kids or themed dinners do you have a favorite craft or recipe?
Judi : Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats (from the ex-wife of a former boyfriend)
1 cup sugar
1 cup Karo
1 cup peanut butter
Combine above ingredients and bring to boil on the stovetop
Stir in 4-6 cups of rice crispy cereal until coated then remove from heat. (Less cereal results in a chewier treat) Pour into ‘lasagna size’ baking dish, press firmly and let cool.
What book have you come to talk about today?
Title: Ghost of a Chance
Book 1, Chances Are …
Author: Judi Phillips
Publisher: Foothills Publishing, LLC
Cover artist: Karen Ronan, http://coversbykaren.com/contact-info
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Pages: 318
Widower Trace Hawthorne has run his life on the left-brained model of an engineer—except for his impulsive move to Egypt with his toddler twelve years ago. When he returns to Minnesota and buys a century-old house, any odd incidents—misplaced items, flickering lights, a boy, Edward, whom no one will claim—he dismisses with logic.
Single mother and herbalist Wynter Storm is poised to expand her business, moonlighting as an interior decorator for extra funds. In denial about her psychic intuition, she senses things about Trace’s new house and about him.
Logic and intuition collide, sparks fly and love ignites. Can they heal past hurts of grief, guilt and abandonment while fending off their matchmaking daughters, curtailing their mothers—one a psychic and the other a busybody—and help the ghost of a small boy find his way home?

Meet Judi:
Judi has had stories in her head as far back as she can remember. However, being lazy (her friends like to point out that she’s efficient), and being a legal assistant, she knew she could never complete a manuscript if she had to write it on a typewriter. Then, along came word processors, and those magic cut and paste and delete icons. There was no stopping her after that. Within a few weeks of her first job with a computer, she started her first story, a house-beautiful, vogue thing about lawyers. Needless to say, it will never be published — but she honed her description skills on that project, so nothing is ever wasted.
UPDATE: That first story (originally named as A Case for Love) now entitled Opposite Sides, has been significantly rewritten to be a novella in the Campfire Circle stories. Should be available early next year.
Judi has recently relocated to New Mexico and is living in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains at the southern end of the Rockies. No more Februarys in Maine for her. She lives with two dogs, a Yorkie, Mishka, and a MinPin, Gizmo,–who lives up to his name. Both have acclimated easily, although Gizmo does miss eating snow in the winter. Despite their small size, they rule the house.

Aww, sad about the robins. Story sounds awesome. I like the character differences between the two! Best of luck and Happy Halloween to Judi.
My mom, who was a great mother in all other ways, totally put me off tricks 😉
I thought I recognized that story line! It was a great story when I read it the first time. I imagine you may have rewritten/updated it? I’ve had to do that with a few of mine.
