Romancing a Daddy’s Girl is about as hard as scaling Mt. Everest, earning a doctorate in nuclear science, and winning the Pulitzer prize.
First of all, your girlfriend already has a man in her life—one she’s looked up to all her life. She’ll compare you to her daddy in every area from how much attention you give her to how many pull-ups you can do. As tempting as it is to try and out-do her father, you simply can’t, so your best bet is to be different. If her father’s a strict, no-nonsense type of guy, then you can be the one to make her laugh. If her father loves literature and high-brow symphonies, then you can take her to a rock concert or rides on your Harley.
Another thing that Daddy’s Girls have is they always have someone to depend on. If she needs advice, an ear to cry to, or her car fixed, her father will happily step in with either his expertise or money. This may be a tough obstacle for you to overcome, but one thing her father can’t do is to be romantic. You, however, can take her dancing, provide physical affection, and do all the “coupley” things that is off-limits between a father and daughter. Let him fix her car or unplug her sink while you take her to see the latest Fifty Shades of Gray movie.
Finally, a Daddy’s Girl will always have the big guns to defend her and protect her from harm, real or perceived. This could put a crimp in your relationship if you’re viewed as the threat. But the best way around this is to make her father your ally. After all, you both want to keep your darling safe. If he wants to drive his daughter to the airport, agree to be backup. If he’s worried about the location of an apartment she’s looking into, help him find safer neighborhoods and give suggestions on home security devices.
Romancing a Daddy’s Girl involves lots of luck and perseverance. She’s unlikely to settle for second best, and she already knows how to size up men. She’s also comfortable with “guy things,” and she’s probably not a man-hater. If she selects you and trusts you, then you can rest secure in knowing you’re the man she believes measure up to dear old dad.

Fourteen years later, Leanna receives a frantic phone call. Her daughter is alive and has run away to cross the US-Mexico border. With little to go on, Leanna hires a bodyguard to help her search for Carmelita.
Axe Salvadori hides his secrets well. He also hides his attraction to Leanna, preferring to watch over and protect her from afar. He pushes his way to Leanna’s side, but what he finds blows away everything he’s ever known about his family and their ties to the mob.
Leanna and Axe fight their mutual attraction and distrust while danger comes at them from all sides. There’s the cartel, Leanna’s ex, Axe’s past, the human traffickers, and Carmelita herself. No one is as they seem, and no one is safe—least of all Leanna’s heart.
What will she trade for her daughter? Who can she believe, and who’s trying to kill her? When the stakes are nothing less than the life of her daughter, can Leanna count on Axe, a man with demons of his own?

He grabbed the phone without waiting for Leanna’s agreement. “Señor Rivera. I’m Axe Salvadori, and I’ve been protecting your daughter for years. Right now, I’m asking for your daughter’s hand in marriage. I love her, and I want to keep her safe.”
“Your father wants to kills us,” Tomas Rivera said. “I cannot trust this arrangement. I’m warning you. If you hurt one hair of Leanna’s head, I’ll hunt down your daughter.”
Axe held the phone tightly against his ear. He gritted his teeth. “This war has to end. I’ll convince my father to bury the hatchet. It won’t be easy because you killed my Uncle Dom. However, if you find Soledad and give her back to us, maybe he will forgive you.”
“I cannot go against Joshua Cano’s wishes. Soledad is the only reason Leanna is safe.”
“No, I’m the reason Leanna is safe. I will father more children with Leanna, and my family will not touch the mother of my children. You understand that.”
“Sí, sí, sí,” Tomas said. “But Joshua will never give up Carmelita, and Leanna will never stop until she has her daughter now that Ana and Eduardo are dead.”
“We work together. We take out Joshua Cano.”
“Dios mío! You’re loco. Out of your mind.”
“He has one weak spot, and that’s Carmelita. Find her and bring her to the table.”
“You cannot threaten her,” Leanna’s father growled. “We’ll kill all of you, family or not.”
“Let me talk to him.” Leanna wrestled the phone from Axe. “Papa, no one wants to hurt Carmelita. The problem is, Joshua has been hiding her from us. He means to keep her away from us. Don’t you get it? She’s the only leverage we have. Here’s what I want. I want custody of my daughter. Revenge for Ana and Eduardo. Soledad back to my husband’s family. Safe passage for Vinny and Axe. You take over Cano’s operation. Kill him.”
Wow! Axe’s jaw dropped, and his heart leaped. What a woman.
She ended the call and dropped the phone on the bed. Looking triumphantly at Axe, she said, “There. Let’s see what his next step will be.”
“I had no clue you’re such a criminal.” He grabbed her arms and jiggled her excitedly. “Here I thought you were a baker and cake decorator.”
“What do you think goes through my mind while I squeeze the fondant?” She giggled and twirled into his arms. “
