Spring and Plot Bunnies and Snowballs? #hockeyromance #sportsromance #coauthoring

Today we’re here to talk plot bunnies…what are they and why do both of us despair of ever catching up on writing all the story ideas we have. We have so many ideas, both seeing news items and getting all excited about how characters fit into the stories.

RJ:

Take the All Star Weekend for instance. Every January the big names in hockey all join together in one place and play a skills competition, and three-on-three games. It’s a fun weekend and you get to see people who are rivals on ice, play around and laugh, and play up on old rivalries.

So, Vicki and I get talking about All Star… and wouldn’t it be cool if Tennant ended up at the weekend… and then it just snowballed…

Vicki:

This snowballing thing happens to RJ and I quite a bit. We’ll be talking about one thing and then before we know it, another book is in the works! It’s really amazing how inspiration can strike like a bolt out of the blue one day, and then on the next you’ll be sitting there staring at that page with nothing to say. Thankfully, those bad days are few and far between for us it seems. We have so many ideas we may never be able actually write them all. We’re going to give it our best shot though!

RJ:

The problem is that there are two of us finding articles. Only this week we had a coach who mic’d up his little boy as the boy played hockey. He couldn’t have been more than four or five, and he reminded us of Noah (Stan and Erik’s boy) and suddenly we have another book, or at least a short story. We exchange ideas through twitter, FB, email… you name it and it’s very easy to find something exciting and to press *send*.

Vicki:

We do tend to keep each other well-informed about cool things. Or even controversial things in the world of ice hockey. Anything that might make a book or short story pop. I think that’s one of the best things about co-authoring, that constant stream of ideas. It’s really amazingly inspirational.

RJ:

We have a Google doc that we keep updated. In fact we have several. The main one for the Railers series, then two others – one for the current Owatonna series, and another for the Rush team (our free weekly serials). I guess we’ll need to start a new one for our next series (book 1 due with you September 29th)

Vicki:

We are the queens of Google docs. All kidding aside, we seem to never run out of ideas to keep us busy. Which is a very good thing! Thanks so much for dropping by to chat with us. And a big thank you to Cathy for having us over.

Meet V.L.

USA Today Bestselling Author V.L. Locey – Penning LGBT hockey romance that skates into sinful pleasures.

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, Torchwood and Dr. Who, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a pair of geese, far too many chickens, and two steers.

When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in one hand and a steamy romance novel in the other.

Available March 27 – pre-orders now available

http://.books2read.com/scott

Scott is struggling. Grieving the loss of his brother, carrying the weight of his father’s expectations, and getting his ass kicked in the rink, he’s in a downward spiral. He needs a solution and fast, but when his steroid use is exposed, he’s close to losing his place at Owatonna and more importantly, on the Eagles Hockey team.  Thrown out of his house, with nowhere to go and no future in sight, he only has one choice; agree to mandatory counseling, random drug tests, and get his act together. Only then will he have a chance at normal. Meeting Hayne, a senior connected to the world through his art, is a shock to the system. Moving in with him is his only option, but falling for the shy artist leaves Scott in an impossible situation, and one he can’t escape.

Hayne has always been that quiet, creative kid who sat in the back of class drawing instead of listening to the teacher. A talented artist, the shy and sensitive young man is struggling with the loss of his childhood friend. Seeing his sadness reflected in his usually colorful paintings, he decides to attend grief counseling and meets Scott, a lost soul in desperate need of light and color in his life. Taking in a homeless hockey player certainly was never part of his carefully orchestrated ten-year plan. But now that Scott is in his life, he’s discovering the joy of this man’s loving smile and tender touch is one of the most beautiful palettes on earth.
