In The Spotlight ~Amber Daulton~Lyrical Embrace #romancemovies #romanticsuspense

Today in the spotlight is Amber Daulton. I asked her if she liked romance movies, her favorite ones and why she chose it. She is also going to tell us about Lyrical Embrace.

Hello Amber.

Hi Cathy. First of all, thanks so much for having me on your blog. I’m super excited to be here.

I prefer action/adventure flicks, but I love romance movies too. Some of my favorites are Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version with Colin Firth), 27 Dresses, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Mamma Mia (yes, yummy Colin plays in this one too), Dirty Dancing, and Pretty Woman. Each of those movies differ from one another in setting, style, social beliefs and customs, and sub-genre, but all of them are still romance.

One of my favorite movies ever is Die Hard. Even though it’s a Christmas-themed action flick with a lot of cursing and bad guys getting shot up, there’s a romantic subplot between John and Holly, the hero and his estranged wife. I enjoy movies, books too, where the couple is separated for a time and have to fight their way back to each other. When they finally reunite and have the big kiss, it always brings a smile to my face.

Another wonderful movie with a romantic subplot is Cinema Paradiso. It’s an Italian film about a man’s life from childhood to his fifties. He falls in love as a teenager and then circumstances beyond his control (World War II) rips him apart from the young woman he loves. They meet again decades later, and it’s such a heart-breaking scene, especially since they cannot stay together even though they’re still in love with one another. I cry every time I watch it.

When it comes to needing a “romance fix,” I usually dive into a book. My favorite sub-genre is romantic suspense, but I enjoy all sorts of romance novels. After all, when I’m not writing, I’m usually reading.

Thanks again, Cathy. I’ve had fun!

Excerpt: Dylan deepened the kiss and lightly tugged on her bottom lip. Tears streaked his flushed cheeks as he smiled at her. “I’m so grateful I found you, baby. I heard you screaming. When I saw that bastard press a gun to your head, my heart nearly exploded. I thought I might lose you. I promise you, Erica, I will never control you as Phil did. You will always have the ability to choose. I just want to make you happy.”

She gripped his hand and brushed her lips across his calloused knuckles. “I know. You do make me happy. You took a bullet for me.” A sob constricted her throat, but she pushed it down.

A blast of noise rent the air. Fireworks filled the sky, visible in the alley from the narrow stretch of space between the buildings.

Erica loved the bright colors and designs, but hardly cared about watching the spectacle. She dropped her gaze back to Dylan.

A grin spread across his face. “It’s been one wild Fourth of July. Why don’t we do something more low-key next year? How about no guns and crazy exes? Just us, the creek, and a bottle of wine. Clothing optional.”

She laughed softly, amazed he could make light of the situation. “That sounds perfect. Absolutely perfect.”
