Hi Ya’ll. I hope you had a great new year. After a rocky last year (I won’t bore you with details as it is behind me and I am starting fresh. I am trying to get back to blogging.
Welcome to A Writer’s Life, where you will find some awesome authors, writing tips and woes and much more.
My guest today is Lexi Post.
Hello Lexi. How did your New Year start out?
Lexi: Hi Cat. Happy New Year! My year started slowly. I was still on vacation from writing, so I enjoyed organizing my office and making plans for 2019. By the end of a year, my office looks like a tornado hit, so it takes at least a couple weeks to make it functionable again.
Cat: Did you have a traditional dinner like our southern tradition of Hog Jowl, Blackeye Peas and greens?
Lexi: Can’t say I’ve ever had that for New Year’s before. Actually, my husband and I had leftovers, but they were delicious leftovers. We threw a party for 74 people on Christmas Eve and he cooked everything! I made the ice cream (Bailey’s, Butterfinger, and Peppermint Bark Oreo Cookie). He’s an amazing cook (he used to be a firefighter). Anyway, there was some food left at the end of the dinner, and he’d packed it up and froze it, For New Year’s we had lobster mac and cheese, cedar plank salmon with a citrus sauce and a salad for dinner with cannoli and my homemade ice cream for dessert.
Cat: Yummy! Did you make any resolutions or set any goals for this year?
Lexi: I did make one resolution, but I already forgot what it was. LOL. As for goals for the year, that’s what I spend days thinking about. I start about October by polling my Reader group and brainstorming ideas. Then after my last book of the year is released, I start seriously looking at what I want to do. That’s about the beginning of December. I should have a plan ready by next week. I like to ease into things 😊
Cat: Tell us about your book
Cowboy’s Break (Poker Flat Series #4) is a re-release because it was in a Kindle World that closed. This book takes place off the Poker Flat nudist resort, where the rest of the series is. Hunter, from Cowboy’s Best Shot (Poker Flat #3) travels to Texas to help his childhood friend, Rachel Adams, figure out why she’s in jeopardy of losing her ranch. Since Hunter was security forces in the military, financials are not his specialty, so he calls in his old buddy from the police academy, Vince Gallagher. The surprise is on Rachel because she broke up with Vince years ago.
I’m very pleased to be able to re-release this story because book #5 in this series, Wedding at Poker Flat, is already out, and I know some readers are waiting for this one before continuing the series.

About the book: He must choose between a second chance with the woman he loves or revealing the truth and breaking her heart.
Cowboy and former detective Vince Gallagher never thought he’d have a second chance to convince Rachel Henderson they were meant to be together, nor did he think he’d want to. Now, after seven years, thanks to his old police academy friend, Vince is knee deep in numbers and computers, determined to save Rachel’s ranch and his own heart.
Rachel hadn’t expected to see Vince again…ever. In fact, she planned on it. Saying goodbye to him had been the hardest thing she’d ever done, but she couldn’t handle her sister, the ranch, and his job as an undercover detective all at the same time. Now she’s with him every day and buried feelings just won’t go away.
The closer Vince gets to solving the mystery of the missing money, the more convinced he becomes that Rachel is the one for him. But when prize animals start disappearing, he has to choose between revealing the culprit and keeping the woman he’s always loved from harm. He just can’t catch a break.

Cat, thanks so much for having me 😊
Lexi and I belong to the same writing group. I always enjoy her work, and others will, too. Big congratulations to her for incredible output! It’s amazing how much she accomplishes. Thanks for the post, Cathy.
Lexi is new to me, but I have been reading her newsletters for a while, I found her on a deal on a Cowboy book and took a chance. she seems so nice. I love authors that take time to respond when you message them through their blog or newsletters and not just have no reply automotrons.
Oh Cathy, I love chatting with readers who contact me!
