I’m a Big Kid #MFRWauthor #favoriteholiday #Halloween #Christmas

Welcome back to MFRWauthors52weekblog challenge. We are at week 29. This week our topic is Our Favorite Holiday. Mine is a tie. I love both Halloween and Christmas. I adore decorating and doing theme dinners and having parties so these two holidays are my dream holidays. I will start with Halloween. I love fall and the colors. I always put up a new wreath sometimes one each week the last two usually more Halloween geared. I like to make decorations too. I have a table I set up in front of my house on Halloween and usually have one treat I have crafted, such as a ghost sucker or candy wrapped in cardboard tubes or a cute gift-bag.   I have three bowls that are interactive. One is a head that talks when you reach in or sings, the other two are hands that grab at you as you reach in. I usually wear a witch hat and all black. I don’t like to dress scary so I frighten small children.  I like to hang Halloween dishtowels in the house and other other decorations. Each Halloween I plan a dinner for my children and grandchildren. sometimes my sister and  her grandchildren may drop by too.  Some of the meals in the past have  been bloody bones and bloody fingers. (BBQ or Hot wings and french Fries with catsup) hosts and bats with guts and blood. ( tortilla chips cut out and guacamole and salsa I have made Jackolantern burgers and witch fingers.  Snake sandwiches, worms and eyeballs and the list goes on. Pinterest is my friend LOL.

Someone fed the grandkids after midnight they morphed into scary creatures.

On to Christmas. no the gift giving or receiving isn’t my favorite part. I could live without that part since it stresses me to no end buying gifts. Again I love decorating. I bring out my Christmas dishes, my holiday tablecloths and dishtowels. Sometimes i have three Christmas trees. One big one on the balcony  my white one in my office or dining room and another  fake green one in the other space. One i decorate with all my snowmen ornaments.  I love putting up lights on the patio awning some on the front porch. I also make a nice Christmas dinner with the Ham or Turkey or both, stuffing potatoes, etc. On Christmas I let the kids decide on the traditional fare or something different since by Christmas they are turkeyed out.  On Christmas eve I do a finger-food get together.  after Christmas on our first snow I always do a snowman themed dinner. The kids and grand-kids get a kick.

So as you see I love to decorate and do themed dinners. Let’s go see what the other author’s favorite Holidays are

  1. It’s so much fun to decorate for holidays. I miss it now that my kids are grown, although I will put in the effort if one or both of them will be around for a particular holiday. Keep on being a big kid!
