A chat on the patio ~ A.E. Via Promises 3~ Bounty Hunters #LGBT

Hi ya’ll! today I would like to welcome one of my favorite authors A.E. Via and her newest release Promises Part three Part of the Bounty Hunter series. I have been waiting it seems forever for this story.  But before we talk about the book, In honor of Independence day I have a few questions for A.E.
Cat-Hi A.E! *pulls out a chair on the patio and offers a refreshing drink* Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit. would you like a glass of tea, lemonade or something stronger?
A.E. *already feeling welcome and comfortable, smiles* “I’m going to behave for now and go for the iced tea instead of asking if you have chilled Moscato.”
Cat-I took the liberty to grill us some lunch. I have burgers, hot dogs or Barbecue chicken kabobs.
A.E *such a gracious host* “I’ve had more burgers and hot dogs this weekend than I want to admit to, so Kabobs sound great. Haven’t had’em in while.”
Cat-I hope you didn’t mind doing this on the patio, though it’s pretty hot out.  Do you always write in an office or have other places you like to write?
A .E.*squints up at the bright sun, but smiles politely* “I’m not a fan of the sun. I have very sensitive skin. I burn in an instant, so it’s rare anyone will see me in the daytime. If I go out, it’s after five in the evening. I prefer to write inside, in my office. It’s sweltering in Virginia Beach in the summer – even trying to write under a shaded tree – the heat would be too distracting to me.”
Cat: I love your Bounty Hunters and I especially liked Ford, Brian being ex-military. what was your inspiration for these characters?
A.E. “Most know that I love alpha males. It doesn’t get more badass – in my opinion – than military men, first-responders, law enforcement, etc. In Promises 3 I wanted the men to truly value brotherhood, honor, loyalty and have a desire to protect. I usually choose a profession that would ingrain these qualities into my MC. Making Ford, and Brian military fit well for them. It drives me crazy to read a book where the character hates people, or doesn’t communicate well, or is an extreme introvert; but the author makes them a teacher or a nurse. It makes no sense.”
Cat: How did you come up with the title of Promises for these books?
A.E. *shakes head and shrugs a bit* “There’s not much rhyme or reason to my titles, honestly. I figured the troubled men in this series would be making tons of Promises in hopes to reach their HEA.”
Cat Do you have plans for more books in this series?
A.E. “I’m so excited! Yes! Brian and Sway’s book will be book 4. And that will conclude the series.”
Cat: Now for something a little more personal. How did you spend your Independence Day?
A.E. *laughs loudly* “I’m not very traditional. First thing I did was turn my phone off and slept in. I debated on getting dolled up and going to a barbecue, but I really had no desire to do that. So, my husband and I took our kids to see Transformers at the Cinema Cafe. Dinner and a movie for the fourth.”
Cat: Do you like cooking out in the summer? What is one of your favorite recipes?
A E. “I’m just a little embarrassed to admit this, but I’m not the cook, my husband is. Inside or outside. I don’t even know how to turn on the grill. He’s great at it! I really like grilled food, since it’s so much healthier. When my husband makes Salmon and grilled veggies, it’s my absolute favorite.”
I will let you get back to work. Thanks for stopping by!

“Cathy, it’s always great hanging out and talking with you. Thank you so much for the lunch and tea, sweetheart. Can’t wait to come back and chat some more! I’m working on my first paranormal book that should release next month. A shifter and vampire true mates novel. I would love to hear what you think of this one, Cathy.” ?

OOH I have been looking for a good Vampire story so I am looking forward to it.

About the Book

A bounty hunter’s partners to lovers’ story.

The hunt is on… and he’s the prey.

Bradford (Ford) King was sure he had the rest of his life mapped out. Though he was no longer a SEAL Lieutenant, his brother was home safe and he had a job that still allowed him to satisfy his hunger for hunting bad guys. Life was simple, no distractions or complications – at age forty-six – that’s all Ford wanted. What he didn’t want was his work partner, sniper/watchman, Dana, giving him s**t all the time.

Dana Cadby had grown up labeled a roughneck from the wrong side of the tracks. He’d fought, scrounged, and survived despite a father that constantly told him he couldn’t. Dana pulled himself up by his own bootstraps and made a name for himself in the marksman community. He’d been Duke’s bounty watchman for five years. It was his job to ensure their safety, watch their backs. At thirty-three, he was trusted, well respected by his peers, his bosses, his friends… so why couldn’t he earn the same respect from his partner?

Dana knew he was bisexual before he graduated high school. He also knew he was attracted to the huge, 6’3”, SEAL from the moment he and his brother came to join their team. It wasn’t easy for him to tamp down his immediate reaction to Ford’s thick muscles, full beard, and dark eyes. Still, Dana exhibited nothing but professionalism towards him, not wanting to make his ‘straight’ partner uncomfortable. So why did Ford constantly give him hell?

After Dana took back his ex-girlfriend, he’d noticed an intensification in Ford’s bad attitude. One that turned aggressive and downright antagonistic and Dana was damned if he’d just lay down and take it. He was gonna make that man respect him if it was the last thing he did.

When Duke sends Dana and Ford out to track down their most dangerous bounty yet, they both embrace the fact that they make one hell of a team… but they fight tooth and nail against the powerful intimacy brewing between them.

Beware: If Ford and Dana connect completely, god help the fugitive who’s in the sights of the hunter and his watchman.

This story is a part of a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a HEA.

Disclaimer: This book is about MM romance, albeit there is a very brief MF scene.

How about a little sneak peek?

Ford

Ford finished showering and grooming his beard that Dana seemed to like so much. Who knew the man was so into hair? He’d dated women so much, Ford thought his rough features and hairy body would’ve been a turnoff to him. Ford couldn’t’ve been more wrong. He’d just finished throwing on a pair of blue US NAVY sweats and a white tank top when his doorbell rang. He may not look as gorgeous as Dana, but he was smelling clean and had even dabbed on a little aftershave. It was as much primping as he could manage.

Ford opened the door, and sure enough, there he was, smelling and looking just as fine as always. Dana had obviously showered too, because his hair was still wet and combed back, making it look jet-black. He had on loose jeans with a simple black and gray retro Jimi Hendrix t-shirt with dark leather boots. His body filled out everything beautifully. While Dana wasn’t as big as Ford, he wasn’t small. He had strong arms and legs, which he used to his advantage on the streets. But Ford’s eyes were glued to Dana’s hard abs and solid chest under the snug shirt.

“You can keep staring, but can you do it with me inside? These bags are heavy, babe.” Dana’s voice, even his eyes, were full of edge and amusement.

Fuck. Ford closed his mouth, not sure if he’d drooled on his shirt or not, and stepped aside to let a still-smiling Dana into his home.

“Well, thank you.” Dana kissed him quickly on the mouth on his way past. Not enough. He went into Ford’s kitchen, dropping the three full grocery bags on the counter. Ford looked bewildered. What was his brat up to now? He never told Dana he had to bring his own food.

“What are you doing?” Ford asked, leaning against the counter while he watched Dana maneuver around his kitchen, washing his hands before he began to unload the bags.

“I’m going to make us dinner.” Dana winked. “I’m starving. Did you eat already?”

“No.” Ford pulled out two beers and popped the tops on them. “I was gonna order Chinese or something.”

“Well, no need.”

“You’re going to cook?” Ford said skeptically, still looking oddly around at the scattered ingredients.

“Yes, Ford. I’m going to cook. It’s not that complicated.”

“You’re cooking nachos?”

Dana looked in his cabinets until he found a small pan and put it on the range, dropping a small hunk of ground chuck in before turning back to Ford. “Good grief. I didn’t say I was attempting a leg of lamb with mint jelly. It’s only cheap ground beef with a bunch of crap on top. I’m not making a five-course meal, man.”

Ford shrugged. “I’m a little surprised but, by all means. Go right ahead. I’ll be in here watching TV.”

Dana grabbed Ford’s arm. “Um. What the hell you think this is? All In the Family? You’re not gonna sit on your ass while I cook and call you when dinner’s ready. Get your fine ass in here and help.”

“I don’t cook,” Ford smirked.

“I don’t need you to.” Dana picked up the tomatoes and tossed one at Ford. “Start cutting. You can’t fuck up a tomato. Any way you cut it, we’ll put it on the pile. Same for the lettuce and avocado.”

Ford was still looking baffled when Dana rolled his eyes and moved him to the edge of the counter, put the knife in his hand and started to show him how to dice. It was cute and silly at the same time. Ford knew he could cut up a tomato and shred some lettuce, but Dana’s arms around him while he manipulated Ford’s big hand around the knife were too endearing to put a stop to.

“See. Easy. Just keep cutting like that,” Dana said softly, leaving his arms around Ford’s waist while he did his menial job. Next thing he knew, he felt soft lips against the back of his neck, moving gently across his heated skin. Then Dana’s hands were massaging his chest and abs as they moved lower and lower.

“You’re gonna make me cut my thumb off.” Ford put the knife down and turned in Dana’s arms.

“Sorry. Got distracted,” Dana whispered.

MY REVIEW

This series just gets better and better. I Love how A.E. takes two Alpha men and puts them together and makes it work. I love both Ford and Dana and was glad to see their story. Ford is quiet and strong and big. with A.E.’s descriptions and how she works that into the story I could visualize this big hunk of a man.Dan being six foot isn’t tiny and Ford makes him look small so that really shows me his size. I love a big bear of a man and Ford just did it for me. I loved how they didn’t just fall into bed in the beginning. The fight for their love was as good as the subplots and action.
This is a book three but i think you could read it as a stand alone. There is recurring characters from the other books but all in all I think you can enjoy it on its own.
I cannot wait to see Brian’s story!
If you like Alpha men, Bounty Hunters,ex-military men, action, romance and some hot man-sex you will love this.
