Hi Y’all! Welcome, back to Cat’s Meow Reviews That Purr~~ Tour it Tuesday, though this isn’t really a tour. Sorry, no other stops. I volunteered for this one because it sounded so good and I didn’t realize it was a book 6. But. I had no trouble following and enjoyed the book.
Title: Dare to Take
Series: Dare to love #6
Author: Carly Phillips
Length: 292 pages
Publisher: CP Publishing
A one night stand.
A secret.
A mistake they tried to forget.
On leave from the army, Tyler Dare is just looking for a little fun, but his best friend’s sister is off limits. Yet unable to deny how sexy and alluring she is, he finds it all too easy to succumb to a night of passion and heat that ends the next morning in the worst way possible.
There are just some guys you don’t touch–even someone as innocent and inexperienced as Ella Shaw knows that. But when her brother’s best friend is up for grabs and willing, she can’t resist. After all, she’s wanted him for years…
Now, Ella is stranded on a tropical island with a hurricane bearing down, and only Tyler can save her. It’s his chance to make amends for the past and show the woman he’s never forgotten that he’s coming after her . . . in more ways than one.
A little more Dare to Take
“Tell me you’re on fucking birth control,” Tyler had said to a very naked, beautiful, and obviously vulnerable Ella. But he’d been too angry with himself and, at the time, with her to see it.
She’d managed a nod, her brown hair hanging over her bare shoulder, her hazel eyes a damp mossy green. “I am.”
Relief had flooded him. She might have crawled into his bed uninvited, but he’d known damn well what he was doing when he’d thrust inside her. She’d been so damned tight, and when he’d hit that obvious barrier, he’d realized immediately … but it was too late. His control had snapped, and he’d taken her hard and fast, nothing like what her first time should have been like — if he’d been sober. If he’d known she was a virgin. But if he hadn’t been drunk, she wouldn’t have made it into his bed in the first place.
“It’s okay.” She’d reached out and touched his bare chest, the sweet gesture a brand on his skin, and his body had woken up again, hardening for her. Which had only served to piss him off more.
“No, it isn’t okay. It was a big fucking mistake. A mess, and you better believe it won’t be happening again.”
Tears had filled her eyes as she’d gathered her clothes, pulled her long shirt on, and run, slamming his bedroom door behind her.
“Fuck.” He’d fallen back against the pillows, so furious at himself he couldn’t think straight.
Traveling to the Caribbean to rescue Ella would bring them alone together for the first time since he’d looked her in the eye and spoken with all the finesse of a drunk twenty-three-year-old.
He’d been an ass. Worse, he hadn’t stuck around the next day to apologize. He’d kissed his mother good-bye and lied, saying he’d been called back to base, all to avoid facing Ella. And in the years since, he hadn’t manned up any better. He ran a hand through his now-longer-than-regulation-length hair. If any man had treated his sisters the way he’d treated Ella, Tyler would have had their balls.
“Ty? You’ll go get her, right? What if it’s worse than a concussion and they misdiagnosed her? She needs someone there before the storm hits.”

MY Review
4 meows and 4 purrs ( I loved it and its Hot)
Ella has the job of her dreams. She works in the fashion world as an assistant to her eccentric boss Angie. She gets to fly all over, wear, lovely jewelry from shoots and meet models and other people in the fashion industry. Her latest trip results in a mugging, her hotel ransacked and if that isn’t enough she is faced with one of her biggest nightmares–Tyler dare.
Tyler Dare is a playboy and has commitment issues. After harboring a secret about his father for so many years, he has developed the running from problems instead of facing them. Now that his sister has asked him to help Ella(one of his problems he ran from) stuck in a foreign country he has no choice but to help—and face that problem head-on.
I loved Tyler. I have a thing about the bad-boy trope, though. I liked that Ella was strong and independent. I also liked that though this story was a predictable romance, we got to watch both Ella and Tyler face their fears and get a second chance at something they messed up in their youth.
If you like a good character driven the story with some very well-defined characters with an overall plot of a second chance and a touch of mystery as a subplot, I think you will like this. My only issue was with the epilogue. The story seemed to end abruptly, and I figured the epilogue would fill us in with more, but it went to Ian describing some family things and introducing us to characters for a spinoff… which I am dying to read, but I would have liked to have a bit more on Ella and Tyler.
If you are looking for a good summer romantic read, I highly recommend this. I am adding Carly Phillips to my authors to watch list. You may want to start at the beginning of the series as this was the end, but I followed along just fine. (at the time of this posting book one..Dare to Love was free on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Dare-Love-Carly-Phillips-ebook/dp/B00GQE9CXA/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1462017017&sr=1-1&keywords=dare+to+love+carly I plan to go back and read the rest.
