#snippetsunday–Sweet and funny time.

Snippet SundayHi, y’all! It’s time for Snippet Sunday again. Time to start the year off on a lighthearted, funny note.  This is a story I started in fall of 2014 after a visit to my dads. I loved the delightful tourist town and decided to make my own.  Sweet Gypsy Rose was born. Then I got sidetracked along the way with sickness and lots of family issues. This year I plan to get a few stories written then decide which path to go on.  For those of you looking for a lighter, humorous story with a free-spirited female lead and a sexy banker that has no idea his potential, toss in a very hunky ex-boyfriend that won’t let go and a secret past, I present… Sweet Gypsy Rose… oh and don’t forget you cat lovers!

This is a rough draft and the only eyes on it has been mine… so remember this is a diamond in the rough.

From chapter one — Meet Gypsy Rose

I’m so excited, my adrenaline seems to be in overdrive. That’s not a bad thing. Since I’ll be out tomorrow night, I decide to make some soap, candle waxes and potpourri pies for the shop. I have lots of herbs in the back garden to use up before the frost hits. I gather the lavender, some sage, and rose-hips. I have a few roses, so I decide to take those in too.
The rose hip and blackberry sage teas are two of my biggest sellers. I need to hurry up and use the basil, thyme, and oregano too. Perhaps one day this weekend. I never thought about having a man in my life, other than Ray that is and he’s more like a big child or brother to take care of not a boyfriend. That boat sailed years ago. If only I can convince him of that things will be so much better. Perhaps if things work out with Frank, Ray will finally move on.
A creamy blur attacks my leg, swirling around it like a whirlpool. I nearly fall.
“Daisy! What have I told you about that. You nearly made me fall.”
A nip and meow is all the answer I get. I bend down and scoop the big, fat cat into my arms and rub her nose with mine.
“If I break my arms you won’t get fed so stop running up on me like that in the garden.” I set her down and pick up my baskets of goodies. She follows me into the trailer.
I love my home. It may not look like much, but it suits me. I live in a double wide mobile home that sits at the edge of a large, woodsy campground owned by my mom’s boyfriend and Ray’s dad, Ebeneezer Patterson. My family history is complicated, but I live as simply as I can. I feel at home surrounded by nature, and I help Ray and Ebby run the campgrounds. I am mostly the hostess and help mom with the book keeping.
I do craft workshops in the afternoons on weekends for kids, well used to be kids but now mom’s and some dad’s want to join so it’s just a workshop for anyone wanting to join. I give lessons at the shop also both group classes and private ones. I enjoy them, but I stay busy from morning till bedtime. The downside is the classes are my only social life. I’ve met a few men but once they find how odd my life and extended family are they head for the hills.
I feed Daisy and make myself a snack of goat cheese and fresh fig preserves while assembling my stuff to get to work. I find it goes much smoother this way. As the ingredients cook and the jars boil, I do a quick sweep of the house. When the soaps and waxes are set to cool, the teas bagged, and a batch of jam is processed I take a quick shower wash my hair, and head to bed. I’m so tired that I don’t even pull out my Kindle to read. I close my eyes and think of Frank Taylor. He reminds me a bit of George Clooney except Frank’s hair isn’t as gray. But those eyes are. I’ve never seen eyes like his. Deepest n his handsome face and the color of steel. I bet he is younger than he appears. His face is so full of tension, and he looks sad even when he smiles. I’ve watched him since he moved to town. He has a very set routine and doesn’t get out much.If he did, I would have heard about it by now. The gossip is he works and goes home. No-one has seen him out other than the bank, the coffee shop and one small cafe on our strip. I hope soon I will give them something new to talk about.

I hope you are enjoying this story and will come back next week and meet Frank, Gypsy roses love interest.
