Teaser Tuesday–Meet one of my guys #NaNoWriMo #MMMromance

Hi y’all. I know it’s been awhile since I have posted. Things have been crazy. I am doing NaNo again this year. It started out a real challenge now I am into the story and its flowing. I fell in love with my characters and though this story is way outside my comfort zone, I have decided to add it to my list of goals for next year. So I thought I would let you have a peek, meet some of my characters and see what you think.

I have no Title I am calling it Simon plus two for now. This is very rough since in NaNo you strive for word count. It has not been edited  at all and is extremely rough.

In Chapter one, I introduce Simon. He is from a story I plan to release by next spring (If all goes to plans). I loved him so much i felt he needed to tell his story and have a happy ending.  The story that unfolded was a surprise to me and not what I had planned.  I am writing this story in both Simon and one of his love interests, Topher’s view.  Simon is arriving to stay at Topher’s mothers Hobby farm. He plays on the prospect team she is hosting several of the players.  In Chapter One Simon’s view,  I have mostly his arrival. Topher is much more complex wanting to get away from the farm and find himself. Today I want to share a little of Topher.

New Orléans sorta freaks me out. I may not stay here long. California was fun and I went to my first pride parade. I still am not sure about myself. When I was in junior high I dated girls. My first two years in high school I did as well. Then that terrible incident in my junior year. We were playing flag football when Sam Galloway tackled me. As we scuffled playfully for the ball he flipped me on my back and pinned my arms above my head in one fell swoop. He laid on top of me his breath warm against my face. My dick throbbed in my shorts. His eyes got wide and he hopped up quickly. I was mortified that he would shout obscenities until my gaze landed on his crotch. Seemed he had a similar reaction. He showed up at my house later that day threatening me if I spoke of the incident again. He swore he isn’t gay, that it’s just a normal reaction from the contact we had. Young guys get horny that’s all, he had said. He was a couple of years older so I believed that. Then Junior prom came and I found myself in a hotel room with my date once again humiliated. No matter how much I touched her, kissed her or she touched me, nothing happened. I thought about Sam’s hard body on mine and my cock inflated up like a balloon. Then she crawled on top of me, kissed me, I felt her curves, smelled her sweet perfume and I nearly tossed my cookies. I blamed the punch and extra alcohol we drank. That night got me to wondering though. Could I be gay? Surely not. I kept busy the summer before my senior year working in Uncle Caleb’s feed store. I flirted with the girls and everything seemed fine. I even went out one night and had sex with a lovely girl, though I did think about some hot, beefy actors. If I can have sex with a girl who means I’m not gay. I was more confused than ever when I entered my senior year. I kept myself busy with baseball, football, homework and working at the feed store. Graduation snuck up on me and I still hadn’t had the guts to talk to mom like Caleb suggested.
I had decided to travel during the summer to find myself. Mom was upset with me, withheld my college funds and trust. She said it would be there when I did go to college. If she thought that would stop me from traveling she was wrong. I had already mapped out a plan, found some boarding houses in each state I wanted to stay in and decided to use my graduation gifts and money I saved from the few years working at the feed store. All I needed was room, board and food. I could do it on what I had.
I spent my first 2 weeks in California. San Francisco has a lot to offer. I was shocked at the cost of living compared to our little town in Iowa. Oakland is a little less expensive but then I had to drive over to San Francisco to go out and to sight see. There were some hot guys there as well. I have figured out that I am attracted to tall, rather husky men. That shocked me since I am only 5’9 and weigh 160.
After visiting a couple gay bars I found out that I needed a new image. My clean-cut pretty boy image got me the wrong types of men. I decided one thing at a time. I found an awesome salon and got my hair cut into a faux-hawk and dyed a very dark bluish black. Mom will shit a brick when she sees me. I don’t plan on going back anytime so and if I do I will have to decide if I am going back as the old Christopher or the new me. Topher.
I arrived here in New Orléans a few days ago. The vibe is very different here from California. The people in California were laid back. Here people seem more intense.
“Hey Caleb.” It is time for my weekly check in. He puts cash in his account if I call him and let him know where I am and how I am doing. I like Caleb a lot. He stepped in when dad died and became a father figure to David and me. I think he likes my mom more than as a friend too.
“Hi Son. How was the trip to New Orléans?” He didn’t sound his usual happy, overconfident self.
“It was cool. A long drive but cool.”
“How long do you plan to stay in New Orléans?” He asked.
“I don’t know. It’s different here than n California, but I kinda like it. I think I’ll stay at least another week and check out some sites, try some different foods. Maybe get a piercing.”
“Man Christopher.”
“Topher” I cut him off. He has been real supportive in my changes and going along so far with the things I have done.
“Topher. You know what kind of fix you will have me in when your mom sees you all changed up like this?”
“I have to be myself Caleb. I need to figure out who I really am before I come to home and talk to her.” We go through this every call. Him threatening to cut off my money if I don’t call mom. In the end, he will deposit some cash in my account anyhow.

So what do you think of Topher? Does this sound like a story you might like?  Tune in next week to meet Simon. Or Maybe the man that makes Topher want to stay in New Orléans.

Snippet Sunday~~ NaNo falling Behind

Snippet Sunday

Hi, Y’all this hasn’t been the best week. I have been gettign sicker instead of better. and had to go back to the Dr again. Yes the fluid is still trapped  in my sinuses( noKidding perhaps that’s why I have the headache from hell for two months?) More antibiotic and nothing to relieve the headaches not much he can give me that don’t affect my seizures or stomach.  To top it all off being in the Dr office and crowded sotre afterwards cased me to catch  a cold right in my chest.  It’s hard enough to type with a headache but do it propped on pillows in bed with  chest on fire. But I ma managing a few words a day.

I write in  first-person split views.  I tried hard this time for third but the first chapter was so flat i had to redo it.  If you missed it last week you can find it here.

Remember this is a very raw rough draft.

TJ

This week  is TJ’s  a small portion of TJ’s take he was very fidgety.

The ride from Iowa City seemed to take forever. It’s not the first time I have stayed in a host house. Last year we had a married couple that had kids at home. That was quite an experience. The kids at last year’s host house were active, loud and followed me around all the time when I was there.

I grew up mostly alone. My older brother was killed when I was eight. He was 4 almost 5 years older than me. He was hardly ever at home hanging around my uncle Tito. I try to not think of that day when we got the news about Manny and Dad. It still saddens and angers me in so many ways.

When I was offered to stay here if I would donate a couple hours a day to some farm chores I jumped at the chance. When I found out our host had a couple horses, I was ecstatic. Not only do I get to play baseball in a prospect league with a chance of draft I finally get to work on a real farm.

Having some of the other team mates around will be different but nice as well. Especially when I found out my best friend and current roommate, Simon Beckner was staying here as well.

Simon comes from money so he volunteered to drive his SUV. This way we have transportation to practice and town if we need it. He is excited as I am about staying here and getting to work with the animals. He wants to be a vet, though I don’t know how he plans to do that and play ball.

I hate this music he listens to. I think e only owns 6 songs on his IPod since the same six have been playing for hours. I can’t call it rap since it has singing and it I slower than hip hop.
“And how much longer till we get there? Your music is giving me a headache”

“I have some aspirin in the console if you need some. We are in Edenfield now where the Stadium is I want to map out our route from The Field to Mrs. Thomas’ so we know how to get here and how long it takes.”

“You always do think ahead Simon but I really need to get out of this car.”

“DO you want to get out and look around at the Stadium?

“No I can make a few more minutes.”

“I think it’s more like 20 or 25.” Simon ( says sarcastically)

I love Simon to death but he can be hard to take in large doses. At least at home I can go to my room and ignore him.

“At last we get to be in the same house. You know how meeting new people is for me.”

Simon isn’t small but he is very different and get picked on a lot. He isn’t violent in nature and won’t defend himself. I on the other hand have no problems decking some homophobic butt-head first and asking questions later. That goes for anyone I care about. I won’t lose anyone else without taking action.

“I think we know a couple of the others form our school and team.”

“I think there is only one from our school. Carl Brorby.”

“I know Carl he is pretty cool. But isn’t he really wanting to play professional baseball? Why would he want to work on a farm?

“Yeah. He is majoring in business. I think he can works with his brother some in construction. Some of us will help with the animals some with minor repairs.”

“I see. I guess I figured we were all going to be used as ranch hands.”

Can I change the music since we are almost there?”

“I guess I can listen to a few minutes of some country cowboy whining about  losing their girl, house truck and dog.”

I playfully punch him, then search for a good station.  I figured being near the country it would be easier but most were Simon’s kind of music, some rock and I finally found one with older country music.

We left the main road and the sight was stunning. Lots of grassy pastures with cows, or goats grazing, some trees, fields with wheat and corn coming up and windmills. I love windmills.

After a few miles on this off road we turned onto a gravel road.  I could see in the distance a large yellow house with white trim, a natural wood barn. The closer we got I saw a small herd of goats.

We pulled up and Simon got out to greet out host while I gather my phone and Walkman placing them in my pockets.

I looked up to see the most beautiful woman standing with Coach Rick that I have ever seen. Where is her husband? Wouldn’t he want to meet us to show us our chores?  Maybe he works somewhere else. I see Coach Rick glaring at me so I tuck the Walkman into my shirt pocket and head out to meet my host.

I hopped out of the vehicle and jogged up to Coach and the hostess. Why the heck did Simon park so far from the house. Then I saw the others tossing ball and figured he didn’t want to t chance a ball through his window or a dent. The way we pitch a ball can do some damage.

Excitement overtook me as I took her small fragile looking hand in mine.  I had a strong urge to pull her into my arms and kiss away that nervous look. I only met her moments ago and deep down I want to protect her.  Hot dam no ring! How on earth could a women this gorgeous be single? I guess she could have a boyfriend but all is fair in love and war.

“TJ go join the others while we finish out business.”

He doesn’t look very happy with me. He turns his head back and begins talking with Annie.  A sweet name for a lovely woman. The way the coach is looking at her and talking so gentle I wonder if he has a thing for her?

My friend Vicki  Locey is also writing an intiguing MM romance for NaNo too. If you would like a sneak peak at hers check it out here.

#SnippetSunday

Snippet Sunday

Week one of Nano is now over. I will say it was a long hard week for me. There were days I didn’t think I would make my count, but I managed, if some days barely.

The goal of the challenge is 1667 words a day. My weekly total is 13,329. I am having fun, and there have been a few unexpected developments along the way.

A few of my NaNo friends have decided to do a mini blog hop and share a snippet or two with you each Sunday.

Would you like a little peek at my story? Here is Chapter one Annie’s view. Remember this is a rough draft and unedited.

Chapter One

Annie checked each room for the third time today wanting everything to be perfect. She had already chewed her nails into nubs the past week wondering if she made the right decision. Her mom and best friend Vicki both agreed it was a great idea to open her home to host some of the boys for the local prospect league team. The arrangement seemed to work for everyone. It would give the players that lived farther away a place to stay closer to the field for practice and give me some help on the farm. Plus as an added bonus, she wouldn’t feel so alone. The boys would do a few chores in exchange for room and board plus meals when they were not out at practice or on the road for a game. Her other closest friend Caleb Douglas nearly had an aneurysm when she told him.

She chuckles at the memory of how red his face got, the veins in his forehead popping out the surface. It was scary that day, but she could laugh about it now. Ever since her husband passed away, Caleb has become more and more protective of her. Like the big brother she always dreamed of. If having a big brother was anything like Caleb Douglas she was glad she didn’t have one or she would probably be a 40-year-old virgin. This man barely gave her room to breathe.  The local men stayed away, and the women were all jealous of how much time and energy Caleb spent on her. She was glad her mom and Vicki were with her, and it was a public venue.

They had the City Council meeting in the high-school gymnasium to discuss the summer season of the Edenfield Eagles.  Annie saw the announcement in the community booklet the city puts out each month and felt this was something she wanted to do.  The drawbacks of a hobby farm are that the animals have to be fed and cared for every day. Her farm isn’t big enough to warrant paid hands though Vicki’s’ son need name comes by to help with the morning goat milking.

Caleb was amazing when Stephen’s baby (need name) was born. He stayed at the farm, took care of things for two weeks, but she couldn’t impose on him all time.

It would be nice having boys around again. She has to admit she misses her boys now that they are grown and gone. Occasionally they come around but not as much as they used to the big house was lonelier than ever since Evan left a few weeks after graduation.  Stephen left two years earlier and was now married with a baby. They lived in Iowa City and didn’t make it down to visit much. (Stephen) Is off hiking and exploring life before going to college. Annie thinks they are glad to be away from the farm. Neither liked working on it getting their hands dirty. They both suggested she sell it after (their dad) died but it was all she had to keep me going, and it did bring in some income.

The crunch of tires on the gravel drive snapped her out of her digression. Too late to change my mind now.

Annie plastered on a smile, brushed her hands down her hips to smooth her clothes realizing she was still wearing her cleaning apron. She snatches it off, just in time to hear the first car door slam. Tucking the apron on a stool behind the bar, she opens the door.

Her stomach lurches as Head coach Rick Davidson Approaches her; hand extended. “Thank you so much, Ms. Thomas, for taking on so many of the boys for us. We don’t get near as many hosts as we expected. These days it’s hard enough to feed and house ones only family little less another growing boy. He looks over his shoulder or 5.  You were quite generous”.

“It’s nothing Coach. I have this big, empty house and like I said in the meeting I could use a little help that I can’t hire out.”

“Call me Rick. I understand, and these guys all agreed to the terms we discussed. None of them minded a little work in exchange for lodging and food. “

Four young men climb out of the van and approach them.

“This is Carl Brorby, Donald Welch, Paul Stedman and Clayton Stenerson.”

A chorus of hellos,’ HI’s and pleased to meet you fill the air.

“I thought there were 6 coming?”

“Yes, Simon and TJ should be here any moment.  They are coming in Simon’s car. This way they have a vehicle to get to practice and around without you having to play taxi service or loan out your car.

“Oh I see” Annie fidget nervously (looks this up and get movement)

Each young man seemed polite as they came in and introduced themselves. Some were laid back, one was very outgoing, and most were polite.

Annie wasn’t sure to wait there on the porch or go ahead and take this group in.

“I guess we can go inside if you like. I made some tea and lemonade.

The four that had already arrived were grabbing their gear and sitting t on the porch. They found a nice patch of grass and began tossing the ball around.

I told them to be here by 11. I got here a little early to make sure you still wanted to do this.

‘Oh yes.” Seeing the boys playing ball and laughing lightened her heart.  She was sure this was right.

Here is a copy of the paperwork with all the agreements and signatures. You are not required to pay for anything personal, only to provide basic meals like breakfast and lunch. When we have a game, a light meal is provided beforehand, and if we are on the road we stop and get pizza or burgers on the way home. You won’t be required to wait up or cater to them.  None f these guys have any allergies. One is vegetarian if that’s not an issue. If so I can find another placement for him.

No, I think I can handle that. Rick. I usually make plenty of side-dishes and keep fresh vegetables handy.  There should be plenty with the garden coming off.

In the distance, they could hear music blasting as a silver Suv came down the lane.

A tall sandy haired young man climbed out of the driver’s seat and walked over to her.

“Hi, I’m Simon. Sorry if we are late. I thought we had plenty of time.” He glanced over at his coach as if he would be reprimanded.”

“No Simon I came early to introduce the other guys and go over the terms of the agreement. Sit you bag on the porch and join the others.”

Simon popped the hatch with his key-fob. He went around to the passenger side and whispered to the other man that was still sitting in the car. He picked up something from inside, probably his phone and slid it in his shirt pocket.  Simon went to the back lifting two Duffle bags and a bag of sports equipment.  He seemed to be a little more laid back and reserved than the others.  He took out his glove and slowly joined the other men.

Then the last one bounded out of the vehicle in.  Yes, he came running up the step NOTE Rephrase he is only about 5-9 and 152 lbs bundle of energy.  Instead of a handshake like the rest he sweeps me off my feet literally (maybe drop this as it is in another story) with a whoop and a twirl he sets me back down tipping his Stetson.( why is he wearing a cowboy hat ( he thinks it really cool to be a real cowboy since it’s his dream)

“Howdy Ma’am (Note in Iowa he won’t use such a Southern terms)! It sure is kind of you to let us stay here in your lovely home” Oh I am TJ. By the way.” Annie was mesmerized as she stood there staring at the cutest boy…   the young man, she has ever seen in years. Broad shoulders, big brown eyes and wild curly hair that’s a little too long. His handsome face in need of a shave he would be her dream man…if only he were 20 years older.
