Teaser Tuesday~Simon Plus Two~Simon #NaNoWriMo #MMMromance

Welcome back to Teaser Tuesday. I am still working on NaNo and coming to the finish line.  Last week we Met Topher. This week I would like to introduce Simon. He is also in my M/F  Book Base Ball Bats and Cowboy Hats. I loved him so much I decided to write his story. This will be standalone.  I made it so those that don’t care for MM romance can enjoy Baseball bats and Cowboy Hats and those that don’t care for M/F and read only M/M can enjoy this one without needing to read BaseBall Bats and Cowboy hats. It has been a challenge to write in real-time with the other book and not make it sound like the same book. This is entirely a different story.  This way those of us that like to read both genres can read both books and not get the same thing twice.  Another challenge for me is this one is a lot steamier than I usually write. Topher is the character and experimenting to find himself. Another Challenge is this is my first M/M/ M story.  Lots of firsts for me. I hope it you enjoy it as much as I have written it. I hope to have it out late next year after Baseball Bats and Cowboy hats debuts.

Let’s meet Simon.

Simon Plus Two(working Title) copyright2016

Mark laughs, washes his hands and slips on a rubber glove. I wait until he has his goat and is settled.
“About last night.” We say in unison.
“You go first.” I gesture to him.
“I was up late last night thinking about our date. I had a great time. I like you a lot.It didn’t seem like you were as into me as I am you when we kissed.” He keeps his eyes trained on the goat in front of him.
“I’m sorry Mark. I like you a lot. I had a good time talking to you. I think I’m not ready for anything else yet. We didn’t have a lot in common.”
“Simon, I know your young. You probably don’t have a lot of experience. Love doesn’t happen overnight . You have to work for it. Give a person time. You don’t have to be in love to have sex.”
“I disagree with that. I know relationships take time. I’m not that naïve. I don’t believe in sex just to get off. I want more. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to hurt you. I hope we can stay friends.”
We both move our goats out into the field to let them get some sun and grass. I am extra nervous with no barriers between us. He pulls me into a tight embrace. His lips meet mine. Again no sparks. It’s sweet and gentle. He lets me go with sorrow in his eyes.
“I like you a lot. If you change your mind and want to try more let me know. In the meantime yes we can be friends. If you ever need anything you can count on me.”
“Thanks.”
With two of us working it doesn’t take long to finish up.
This morning TJ and I are heading out to the homeless shelter to start a baseball league for them. There are a couple of boys homes, group homes, women’s centers and shelters in Edenfield and Putoxi, a town not far away. We have to see how many are willing to play and the ages. Rick said he would help us and be an umpire. I‘m surprised at how many signed up. We have enough to make a little league team with the 11 and 12 year olds. The 6-8 year olds we are going to start with t ball then move them into softball. The 9-10 year olds Rick said to use a softball. We had a few girls interested so we let them join in their respective age groups. They were too cute to say no to. It’s mainly for fun and to keep them off the streets, and to teach them to get along with others. I’m going to fund getting them uniforms.
TJ and I took the 9-10-year-olds. Some of the other players took the other age groups. We get to meet our team today. We head back to the ballpark to wait for them to arrive.
“Hey, guys.” Rick greets us.
“Hi coach.” TJ and I said in unison.
“This is a great thing you’re doing guys. I hope you know what you’re getting into. This won’t be an easy task. I hope you realize the work. With your chores at the farm, practice, and games you will be exhausted.”
“Yes sir. We thought it over for a while and discussed it. We decided practice with the boys after our practice for an hour three days a week. When have to do away games we will have to adjust their schedules.”TJ replied in his usual cocky manner.
Suddenly a bus pulls up and a herd of noisy children explode out. We have little boys going in all sorts of directions. TJ goes one way. I go another and Rick yet another. I feel like a sheep dog. The Driver and director of them look frazzled. I’m beginning to see why Rick asked if we were sure of this and they haven’t been here ten minutes. “Do you need us to stay?” The director asked. TJ. Heck I don’t know. I was hoping Rick would answer.Go enjoy yourselves for an hour or so.”TJ jumped in and answered. I look at him like he’s crazy.
“It’s cool Simon We can do this. They’re just excited.” He is bouncing himself.
It takes a few minutes but between the three of us we get them to sit in the dugout. They thought that was cool.
“Ok, guys how about we introduce ourselves,” TJ announced. I pulled out the Sharpie and the cool baseball shaped labels we found to write their names on. This will make it easier for us to remember their names.
“I’m not a guy!” A cute pixie-faced little girl with brilliant red hair and freckles stands up She places her hands on her hips, her mouth in a tight line and her eyes squint. Oh boy this one is going to rival all the boys.
“And gals. I’m sorry. How about you start. What’s your name honey?” TJ flashes his million dollar smile that usually melts all women’s hearts.
“It’s Becca and don’t call me honey!”
It’s all I can do to suppress a giggle. Coach Rick doesn’t even try.
“TJ, it looks like you met a girl who can resist your charms.” Coach chuckles.
“Don’t laugh at me.” The little redhead growls. Yes she growled. This is one scary ten-year old.
“Here ya go Miss Becca.” I write her name on one of the labels and show her how to put it on her shirt. I sure am not going to touch her. I’m sure I’d end up with a black eye.
It’s just Becca. Not Miss. You didn’t put Miss on there did ya?” She snatches the tag and inspects it closely. She places it on her shirt were I showed  and grins.
One down fourteen to go. This may be a long hour.
“Ok, Let’s go down the line. Next.”
TJ points to a tall African-American boy with lots of braids in his hair. “I’m Terrence Smith.”
Next. TJ points to the one beside Terrence as I get his sticker on him.
“I’m Jeremy Adkins.”
“Do you go by Jeremy or Jerry?”
“Jeremy.”
I hand him his sticker. The next one is Garry Wolfe. He is Tall and stocky and looks older than 10 or 11.
Akira Ichiro is a small Asian boy. I think he so adorable with his narrow brown eyes.
Benny Graves is a chunky, pale complexioned boy. He doesn’t look happy to be here.
Joel Robertson is an average Caucasian boy with brown hair and brown eyes.
Dwayne Morgan is a light brown-skinned boy with the prettiest almond colored eyes.
Estevan Sanchez and Domingo Alverez are both Hispanic. They make me think of TJ.
Wilson Arnold, Nathaniel Roberson, Darrin Bennett, Larry Norman are all Caucasian. Nathaniel is also big for his age and tan. I can tell he has been outside a lot.
“Ok guys and gal. Thanks for sitting still while we did introductions.” TJ shouts over the din. Yeah he exaggerated a lot when he said sitting still. We had them trapped in the dugout. Coach stood at the entrance I stood at the exit so they couldn’t run around in the field.
“I am TJ, this is Simon. He waves his hand towards me. “This is Simon.
He waves towards me. We will be your coaches. This is Rick he is our coach and will be your Umpire.”
The bus pulls back up and the kids all groan.
“We wanted to play ball” several shouted out.
“We will try out and find out who plays what next week. For now be good to your advisors or they wont bring you back.” Tj lines up the kids and marches them to the bus.

I thought this  was a cute excerpt with the little league kids. Remember this is very rough draft. It has not been edited at all and will undergo serious work after NaNo.

I hope you enjoyed it. Do you have any suggestions to make this excerpt better?  Do you like M/M contemporary romance?

 The boys are back and
fiercer than ever!

“We were a unit
tonight, moving as one. Even apart, we are deadly, but when combined – we are
f**kin’ unstoppable.” ~~ God ~~
Atlanta’s notorious narcotics task
force is at it again. They are stronger, bigger, and better than
ever. Especially when a city councilman sends RECON Marine, Edwin Steele –
who’s been blacklisted from his Oakland department – to join the
team. God and Day weren’t recruiting. They have a lot on their plates,
like the fact they’re supposed to be getting married soon. They don’t have
the time or the patience to integrate a decorated war hero with a slight
chip on his shoulder into their well-oiled machine.
A hothead that’s
uncontrollable and terrible with authority… but wasn’t that their team
motto?
Steele was ready to hang
up his shield. He was done fighting with bigoted bastards that couldn’t
respect the job. He was good at fighting; he just needed the right team to
fight with. When his uncle – City Councilman, Rasmus Steele – shows him a
video of God’s team in action, he knows right away, it’s where his nephew
belongs in order to restore his faith.
Steele pointed to the
driver, a behemoth of a man wielding those massive firearms like a true beast…
like a soldier. “And him. Who the hell is he?”
“That’s your new boss.
Lieutenant Cashel Godfrey… they call him… God.”

Steele was skeptical
about his new placement, but when he meets God’s
technology specialist/computer
genius, “Tech,” he’s willing to give it his all, and he definitely shows
and proves.
Tech is stunning. His
sweater vest
and khakis, a stark contrast to the blue-jeaned roughnecks
he works with. A beautiful sheep amongst the wolves. Steel thinks
there’s no way the brilliant man
would be interested in a hardhead like him, but
Tech has a few badass hidden talents of his own and manages to
fool him… fool all of them.

This story is a part of
a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a
HEA. There are no multiple pairings in this novel.

Excerpt…
Chapter Twelve
Steele

Steele
looked at Tech’s profile while he set out all the tiny pieces to make him an
earpiece. His hands moved methodically over the delicate pieces, putting each
item in its place. It was way outside of Steele’s scope of knowledge. The young
man was a genius. As he looked around at all the sophisticated technology, he
couldn’t help but marvel at the detective. This was something you’d see built
by an engineer that worked for Bill Gates or something, making a six-figure
salary, not in an Atlanta precinct, and he found himself wanting to know Tech’s
story.
He
looked sexy today in his fitted jeans and black, slim-fitted, ribbed
turtleneck. The black, plastic framed glasses set off his entire “I’m a hot
nerd” look, but the body didn’t quite match. He was fit and toned in a Peter
Parker kind of way. Tech probably couldn’t get overly muscular, but it was
clear he worked out. His biceps were probably the size of small apples when he
flexed, and Steele hoped he’d get an opportunity to see them.
Tech
finally moved to get to work, putting a piece of the gray putty on the end of
the five-inch forceps. But as Tech’s hand got closer to the side of his face,
Steele could see the slight tremor. Fuck.
Steele slowly reached up and got a gentle grip of Tech’s narrow wrist, bringing
his hand back down. He took his other hand and pushed back the long sleeve of
Tech’s shirt, locating the spot on his wrist he could manipulate with a little
pressure to help calm some of Tech’s anxiety over having to touch him –
especially when they hadn’t approached the elephant in the room. He looked into
Tech’s brown eyes behind those clear lenses while he rubbed his thumb in a
small circle over the smooth skin. He lost himself in the movement; Tech’s skin
was so pale and soft as he caressed him that he almost forgot why he was even
touching him in the first place. Maybe because of their first interaction
Steele felt an extremely strong pull towards Tech.
“Don’t
be afraid of me, detective,” Steele whispered, watching closely as Tech’s long
lashes fluttered over his intelligent eyes. “I’m sorry I hurt you. I truly am.
I promise… I swear on my fallen brothers that I’ll never ever hurt you like
that again. I wouldn’t’ve come back if I didn’t think I could control myself…
especially around you. I’m ashamed of what I did.”
Tech’s
breath came out in shallow gusts while he let Steele continue to touch him.
“I’m sorry, too. I didn’t mean to offend you, either… or hurt you.”
“I
know you didn’t.” Steele wanted to lean in closer, somehow get better
acquainted in a different way, but he’d try to establish some trust between
them first. He slid Tech’s sleeve up until it was bunched around his tight
bicep. He stopped caressing the pressure point when he saw the dark purple
bruise above Tech’s elbow. Oh no. He felt even shitter than last night. No
words he’d thought of seemed good enough to speak, right now.
“I’m
okay. Really. I’m stronger than you may think,” Tech said hoarsely, his eyes
darting away. He looked upset, but for a different reason.
“I
know you’re strong. I felt it. But I know the joint is swollen and aching in
there.” Steele let Tech’s wrist go and reached for his backpack. “I brought
something to help.”
Tech
inched in a little closer and Steele took that as a good sign. Ignoring the
delicious coolness of Tech’s cologne, he reached inside and took out the
circular metal container. He didn’t take much with him as he moved from place
to place but he did keep his array of natural remedies he’d acquired from
doctors all over the world, from hypnotherapist to Ayurvedic physicians.
The
can of presoaked bandages was the best he’d ever encountered for aching muscles
and joints. It was made of so many herbs and oils; he’d never be able to recite
them all, but he knew of the primary ones. He took off the tin lid and Tech’s
neck jerked back at the potent smell that blasted their senses, even their eyes
began to water. Tech put his hand up to his nose. “What the hell? Oh my god.”
Steele
chuckled deeply, reaching out to cup Tech’s hand, pulling him back towards him
until was standing between his legs. “I know. I know. It’s the Capsaicin. It’s
an oil extracted from hot chile peppers. I think, mixed with the peppermint,
it’s a bit overpowering, but all the properties together do wonders in reducing
inflammation.”
“There’s
no way I can walk around the office with these on. God’ll kick my ass out of
here so fast.”
“No
he won’t. Because after the bandages are on, I’m going to wrap it in plastic.
It’ll contain the smell. Trust me.” He looked up at Tech’s eyes, realizing
their close proximity. He’d done it on purpose, opening his legs a little
wider. He wanted to show Tech he had a measure of gentility under all his
strength.
Tech
was quiet while Steele carefully wrapped both elbows. “It’s cold. Feels kind of
good, despite the smell.” Tech’s smile was gorgeous and warm.
“It’s
the Camphor cream. A lot of physicians say use hot temperatures for aches, some
say cold. I’ve found cool works best, especially for acute pain.” Steele began
wrapping the Saran wrap. “Out in the field, we’ll try just about anything to
eliminate pain. Of course, we had our corpsmen; but taking narcotics was a last
resort, we needed to stay sharp.”
Steele
pulled down one sleeve and then the other. He closed up his canister and tucked
it back inside his bag. He wiped his hand on a hand towel in his backpack and
zipped it up. “So, what do you think?” Steele knew the medicine well. Already
knew it was working its way into the layers of Tech’s skin, giving him some
much-needed relief. At least Steele was able to fix a little of the damage he’d
done.
“Much
better, actually. Wow, it’s like a miracle serum,” Tech said, bending his arm,
testing the mobility.
“Keep
them on overnight, if you can. It’ll really feel a lot better by tomorrow.”
“Okay,”
Tech agreed, almost wistfully. He stood there rooted in place, just watching
him for a moment and Steele saw his eyes drop to his mouth. Steele licked his
lips.
Tech
blinked, dropping his eyes down, moving back to the side, in front of his kit.
“I better get this going. I’m sure your new partners will be ready for you
soon.”
Steele
tilted his head to the side when Tech reached for his earlobe again. He didn’t
make a sound and he fought not to react, but the hot detective touching him on
his spot was making it difficult. No words were spoken now, only silence and
Steel’s shameless thoughts. He wanted to moan so badly when those agile fingers
moved across the fleshly part of his ear, manipulating the soft substance to
mold to his canal. Tech’s face was so close to his he could feel his exhale
while he peered into the tunnel of his ear. His breath was a mix of coffee and
something else sugary… like he’d had pancakes for breakfast. Steele turned
inward, wanting to smell, wanting to taste.
“Hold
still,” Tech whispered, close to him. “Won’t be long.”
Oh, damn.
That erotic voice. A mild tenor, lighter than bass but far from feminine.
Absolutely perfect. Steele would love to hear it right here in Tech’s
sanctuary. Standing in the midst of all he’d engineered with his brilliant
mind. In the darkness, illuminated with only the flashing red and green signal
indicators on Tech’s monitors, not the harsh florescent lighting over his head
right now. Ahh. He’d hold that taut
body close to him while he caressed the petite round globes of his ass. Would
Tech fit to his body the same way he was curving that malleable paste to fit
his ear? Steele could feel his heart beating faster the more his fantasy played
out in his mind. He closed his eyes and pictured himself coming back from a
dangerous bust and Tech taking him into this room, keeping the lights off and
bringing his adrenaline down with his lustful voice and feather light touches.
“Doing
real good,” Tech breathed quietly, still so damn close. “This is going to be a
little warm now, so I can fold it easier.”
“‘K,”
Steele responded throatily, without knowing what he’d just consented to. He
felt the slick piece of putty slide back into his ear; it was nice and toasty,
like it’d been dipped in warm honey. Still, Tech blew on his ear like it was
too hot for him to take. Oh, he could take the heat. “Mmm.”
“You
okay?” Tech paused.
Steele’s
eyes popped open, the bright lighting jerking him to reality. Fuck, did I just moan? “Oh, yeah. I’m
good. Fine.”
“Alright.
We’re all done,” Tech said, putting the intricately curved piece of goo in a
plastic dish and closing it. “This’ll harden, then I’ll put the casing with the
mechanism over it and you’re good to go.” Tech looked back and forth before his
eyes landed back on him. “I’m real glad we’re square. This team… we’re a family
ya’know, a unit. Everyone is partnered up… in love. We don’t take risks with
anyone’s lives. It’d be devastating.”
Tech
was preparing to walk away and Steele wasn’t ready for him to. He stood and
walked up behind the smaller man while he stood in front of a row of shelves
and put his kit away. When Steele spoke, Tech jumped slightly but settled right
back down. “And who are you in love with?”
“My
job. I don’t have time for all that,” Tech answered. Steele had a feeling that
even Tech didn’t believe that answer.
Steele’s
chin was over Tech’s shoulder. He didn’t grab his narrow waist but he wanted
to. “How warm does this job keep you at night, detective?” Steele didn’t wait
for an answer; instead, he turned and took the weapons Tech had placed out for
him and left his space. But he made a mental note to revisit that topic real soon.
As he made his way back across the office, he hoped that Ack would approve.
It’d been a long time since any other man gave Steele’s body this kind of
reaction.

The Cat’s Meow ~~#Reviews that purrr~~6 day to get Lucky~~By LE Franks

Hi Y’all! We are still doing our Lucky in love month here on the Cat’s Meow. This week I have L.E. Franks sharing 6 days to Get Lucky and I am including a review for 6 days to Valentines since they do need read in order. Read on! LE has a special giveaway at the end!

I asked L.E. If she had any superstitions.

Thank you so much for including me, Cathy. In answer to your question, I only have one superstition: I have to hold someone’s hand on takeoff and landing when I’m traveling by plane. Funny I know. Like I’m going to prevent it from falling out of the sky or from running over the underpaid baggage handler on the tarmac. You never know, I always do and so far it’s worked.  Everyone who’s on the flight with me should thank me!

Wishing you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Keep it green. – LE

6 Days to Get Lucky

Release date: 2 March 2016

Series: 6 Days / Loves a Holiday Book No. 2 (continuation of the story after 6 Days to Valentine)

Category: Gay Romance

Sub-Genre: Comedy, Contemporary, Holiday, Series

Number of Pages: 226

Heat level: 3

About the book:

Mixologist Nick Valentine never thought love was in the cards, but after a scorching Valentine’s Day kiss from bouncer Davis “FatBoy” Newman, he’s beginning to think it’s possible. After four weeks of dry spell, Nick’s losing patience—it’s time FatBoy stop acting the gentleman and just throw him over the bar or Nick may just change his mind.

All FatBoy wants is a shot at winning Nick’s heart. As long as meddling bosses, an Irish hurling team and a bar riot don’t ruin his chances forever, he might just get lucky and take the man of his dreams, home.

MY Review

In order to know who the characters are and how the relationship is like it is with Fatboy and Valentine you need to read 6 Days to Valentine:

I give it a 5 meow and 3 purrs(moderate heat)

Nick is a mixologist and basically a manwhore. He gets hs kicks in the back room, most of the time with his backup Juan. He realizes he wants more from life than backroom one-offs. His bouncer he calls Fat-boy because of his linebacker size keeps trying to hook him up with his cousin, but Nick has an idea to assure that Fatboy quit harassing him and also be his servant for a day. Nick had no idea how this could backfire on him.

I loved Nick, and this story introduces us to Nick, Fatboy, and several other characters. I felt it was a great heartfelt set-up leading to the next book.
6 days to Valentine is fast-paced, funny, sweet with some romance and leaves you wanting more.
*I was gifted a copy of this story for an honest review*

Review for 6-days to Lucky

5 meows 4 purrs( some explicit man-sex)

6 Das to Lucky is the sequel or next installment of 6 days to Valentine. We pick up with Nick still not having been having sex with Fatboy. He is frustrated both sexually and for the fact that Fatboy is hiding deep in the closet and he is out and proud. We meet many new characters in this book. It is longer with a lot of action and some new possibilities of interest for Nick. Will he wait for Fat boy to decide or will he go with one of the new options?
We get more Nick, more angst, more Fatboy and his angst and more storyline. I loved it. The story keeps you on your toes, has humor and nail-biting suspense and we get some hot man-sex.
I want more! More Nick and more Fatboy!!!Please!

I was gifted a copy for an honest review

A Little more 6 days to Get Lucky:

Reaching across the empty bed next to me, I rode out the last waves of my dream alone. I could still feel his phantom kiss on my lips and the sensation of a hand stroking along my thigh.

The rest of it was just a blur of emotions and sticky residue on my sheets—though I could guess at it without much effort. FatBoy Newman had been a specter haunting me at work so it was no great leap to assume he’d shouldered his way into my dreams as well.

In fact, he was at the root of my problem: I’d been having a hell of a dry spell.

Four weeks of near misses had done nothing but stoke my bad mood and turn my balls a lovely shade of indigo that matched my jeans…

Four weeks of dashed hopes…

Four weeks since the most romantic kiss of my life…

Four weeks of nothing.

Fuck the South and its mythology of the Southern Gentleman—if FatBoy Newman didn’t stop treating me like a delicate flower and throw me up against a wall soon, I was going to explode.

It was six days until St. Patrick’s Day, and FatBoy had until then to make his move, or I was moving on.

AuthorInterview

Hi, Ya’ll! Today I am so excited to get to spend the day in the office with V.L. Locey. Do ya want to tag along and meet V.L.?

Hi, V.L. Thank you so much for letting me tag along with you today.

Do you have a regular day job(or night) or write full time? I’m fortunate enough to be a full-time writer now.

When do you usually write? My best time to write is in the morning, generally between 8 and 12 am.

How do you usually begin your day? Coffee, a shower, morning chores (we live on a small hobby farm and have 3 steers and assorted poultry to attend to) followed by breakfast then writing.

Do you eat breakfast before you go to work?  I do eat breakfast yes. Most generally it’s a bagel with cream cheese.

Sitting at a desk all day can make you stiff and achy. Do you have an exercise routine? Yes! I started practicing yoga about 8 months ago. I try to hit the mat daily but some weeks I only can squeeze in 3 or 4 practices.

Do you have an office? Where do you usually write? Well, I don’t have an office really. We live in a very small house so I work at the kitchen table. It’s a big table that sits in front of a huge Eastern bow window, so every morning when I sit down to write, I get to witness the sun coming up.

Ooh that sounds awesome! Don’t mind me. I’ll just sit in the corner quietly while you work.  What are you working on today? I’m just starting a brand new novella, an M/M gay holiday story, called Santa on Skates.

*sneaks over peaking over—shoulder*  Sorry but I don’t even have an excerpt yet. I’m just now laying out character bios.

This  sounds good! What inspired this story? Any real events or people? It was inspired by real events at a recent ECHL hockey game I attended with my family. The characters are purely fictional.

Do you outline or are you a panster? I am 100% an organic writer, or a pantser as some like to call us. I sketch out character bios, and then the story and characters take me where the story needs to go.

Do you find pictures of your characters, write up bios for them? Yes, sometimes I do find pictures for them. I like to fiddle with storyboards over on Pinterest so lots of my books and the inspiration for various characters can be found there.

*something wet brushes against my hand…looking down I see the cutest little coondog.* Ahhh Whats her name!  Maisy she is our 8-month-old coonhound pup.

“Toss Maisy’s tennis ball. She loves that!” V.L. says.

Ok, sorry, they don’t call me chatty Cathy for nothing. I will take off and let you finish your story. Thank you for letting me spend the day with you.

Good  luck on your release

BLURB: Authors know that their muse is a fickle creature. Best-selling spy novelist Stephen Ramsey has been in a hate-hate relationship with his inspiration for months. When Stephen’s publisher lays a legal ultimatum upon him, with a rapidly approaching deadline, he knows he must do something to kick-start his creativity or face the unemployment line. His daughter comes up with a possible answer: a summer camp for the creative soul. With nothing to lose, Stephen packs up his laptop, phonograph and beloved record albums and heads from Greenwich Village to the Catskill Mountains.

There, among a horde of college students attending for extra credits, is Declan Pomeroy, a photographer of fey creatures who is twenty-two years younger than Stephen. The woods are a magical place, and he quickly finds himself falling under the spell of the free-spirited photographer. Confusion wars with desire inside Stephen as he succumbs to the feelings welling up inside. But, sadly, summer camp always has to end. Can a man who has just found himself really leave the person that makes his heart sing?

Excerpt

Then he appeared from the tree line, a lithe, pale creature of the Finnish goddess Mielikki’s woods if ever I had seen one. Yay for that semester of world mythology back in college finally paying off. Declan wore nothing but a scrap of linen tied around his lean waist and a camera around his neck. I swallowed and stepped down off the porch, anxious to get closer to him. He waited patiently for me. As I drew closer, I could hear him humming. A smile tweaked my lips. It was Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

“You look like you have too much on,” Declan announced when I stood in front of him. I glanced down at my attire. Gym shorts, a T-shirt, and sneakers sans socks. “How would you feel about doing this nude?” My sight knifed back from my clothes to my guide into the Twilight Zone.

“You’re not naked,” I pointed out once I could speak around the knot of desire clogging my throat.

“I usually am, but I figured you’d be far too uptight to not have clothes on, so, I fashioned a makeshift chiton to cover my goodies.”

“Okay. Yes, I’m not comfortable with our goodies hanging out.” He glanced up at the fat moon over our heads, then sighed dramatically. “I can do no shirt and no shoes, however.”

Declan’s gaze returned to me from Madame Luna. He made a sort of cooing sound then rose to his tiny toes to press his lips to mine. It was a soft peck, our mouths touching for a mere second, but it did things to my perceptions of who Steven Ramsey is that I still cannot fully explain.

“I think I’d like to see you without a shirt,” he whispered over my lips.

“What are you doing?” I croaked. He shrugged a shoulder, then dropped back down to stand flat-footed. “Stop it, okay? I’m old enough to be your father.”

He smiled then spun around, his bare back gleaming pure white. I wanted to touch his skin, trace the knobs of his spine with my tongue. This whole thing was pure insanity, yet I hurried to strip off my old T-shirt and kick off my sneakers. Declan glanced over his shoulder, smiled again, and then rushed off into the night, the coquette. I followed because what else could I do? Not traipsing after the kid was impossible. The grass was cool and wet under my bare soles. The high whine of a mosquito zipped past my ear. I would be nothing but a massive bug bite in the morning. I walked behind Declan, swatting at the air, hoping I didn’t step on something that would require stitches or a tetanus shot. We stepped into the woods. I debated going back for my shoes.

“We have to be as silent as possible,” Declan, standing on my right, whispered.

“Shoes are quiet,” I replied, my hand resting on the scraggy bark of an old pine.

“Shoes don’t allow you to touch the earth.”

“They also don’t allow thorns to penetrate your flesh,” I parried. My guide grunted in consternation then set off once again. A million questions bounced around my head as I tenderly placed one foot down then the other. What kind of camera did he use? Was there a special ethereal film for capturing fey? Did I need therapy? Did I just step on a slug?

We walked deeper into the woods. The farther we traveled, the more I wanted to speak up or at least scoff. I was working on a good zinger when I ran into Declan’s bare back. He threw up a hand to silence me. My body tightened from a weird combination of fear and desire. The kid felt wonderful pressed against my chest, his clammy skin resting against mine. I peered over his head, my hand coming to rest on his left hip. Declan leaned back into me just the slightest bit. My cock began to swell. My eyelids drifted down as he wiggled enticingly closer still.

“Look at the hazy ring around the moon,” Declan whispered. My fingers dug into his bony hip. I opened my eyes and looked up. We were on the edge of a small glen. He lifted up his camera and snapped several images as I stared at the milky white fingers of magic tickling the moon. “Now look at the ground.” I did. There, in the center of the small glen, was a small, perfectly circular ring of mushrooms perhaps ten feet wide. “That’s known as a fairy ring.”

“Huh,” I grunted, my body trying desperately to take over the show. Declan had to feel my erection resting against his pert ass. He seemed perfectly as ease with a hard dick between his buttocks. I, on the other hand, was slowly going mad. I longed to lower my mouth to his neck and lick the sweat from his skin. I also wanted to run away screaming to the world that I was not a faggot, but was I? It certainly looked it. Declan lowered his camera and took a few shots of the white mushrooms.

“I’ve heard tales of the fey blessing those who stand in a fairy ring under a full moon. Would you like to go stand in the ring, Steven?” he asked. I nodded. He slid out of my grasp and reached back to find my hand. His fingers were thinner than mine. He pulled me into the glen. I glanced up, then back. “Are you afraid that someone will see us cuddling in the fairy ring?”

“At the moment,” I stepped carefully over several large mushrooms,” I’m afraid of everything, mostly you.”

BookReview

Steven is a best-selling author going through a third divorce and stuck in a writing slump. His publisher is breathing down his neck making it harder to write. His daughter Liza suggests he goes to a writing camp n the Catskills to get his creative juices flowing. That’s not all that begins flowing. Declan is a very artistic, unique individual that captures Steven’s interest ad becomes his muse.

I was looking for a fresh, romantic story and this one was perfect. I fell in love with Declan from the moment he bound onto Steven’s porch. He is a very fresh unique character. The descriptions were spot on. I also liked the plot of the story though it’s a predictable sweet romance, I love the older man/ younger man trope and have a soft spot for gay-for-you stories.

If you like gay-for-you, May/December, sweet romance with some moderate man-sex this is a must read.
I received this book free for an honest review.

Review:  Jonathan reflects on his past that brought him to the night of his Academy award.

This story just blew me away. It is so beautifully written and though I didn’t cry it touched my heart. Once I started I didn’t want to stop.  Joe has such a way with words he paints a moving picture. I could see each movement, I could envision the plays and my heart went out to David, Jonathan and Barry as well. I had a love/ hate relationship with David, I hated Terrance, loved the other’s that David’s life touched as they hitchhiked to town and the professor gave a comedy relief to the sad nature of the story.

If you like something different from time to time, a bittersweet story, Actors, college men, and a very sweet romance I highly recommend this.
