How many can I list? #mybadhabits #MFRWauthor #amwriting

It is time again for the 52-weekMFRWblogchallenge. It is week 35 and the topic is My Bad Habits.

At least this week it is easy. I have tons of bad habits.

Number one is nail biting. I have tried to stop but to no avail. I actually don’t bite my nails but the dried cuticles underneath so I always have sore looking and. I’ll never be a hand model.

#2. I constantly going around shutting doors and drawers. If something sticks out I have fixed it.

#3 I set expectations and goals so high no human can meet them. When I worked I was a manager and my to do lists for each shift were always long. It looked like a lot but would write things exactly. Most of them were small chores and I would rather they stay busy.

I believe this is why I never finish a story. I set my to do list so high that I work on it and never get to the writing part or am too tired when I do. I have whittled down a lot of my workload so that it is more attainable and to put the writing first. I will see how this happens.

I am a list maker. I have lists for everything. Cleaning, decluttering, crafts to do, crochet projects to do, gardening, menus, grocery lists, to do for writing, to do for home, schedules, I even have a list of my lists.

biting nails, not finishing what I start, too long of a list (see what I mean, setting expectations no human can meet personal and at work

I mean well…

That brings me to my writing. I have lists of stories that are finished drafts, some even completed, some that have been submitted rejected and I need to redo, lots of unfinished stories, lots of ideas for stories.

I have a bad habit of starting something then getting overwhelmed and stopping.

I may be staying on track working on a story when a new idea strikes. what can I do but stop and write it down, work out the characters. If not I will forget it.

I also have the bad habit of falling into the internet trap especially Pinterest. I can waste a full day there. I’ll pin recipes for hours and maybe use one on occasion.

Do you have any bad habits? Let’s go see what the others bad habits are?

Doors #MFRWauthor #opendoors/closeddoors #blogchallenge

Hi and, welcome back to the MFRW52week blog challenge. This weeks topic is opened doors or closed doors. I sat here scratching my head for a long time. What the heck does this mean?  I am stumped.

Does it mean do you prefer open or shut doors in your home? I like the shut. I have am a bit OCD and I go nuts if someone leaves a cabinet door open or a door half-open. Now the entry door is another story. When it is nice outside I open mine since it is in the office so I can see out and it lightens my office. Molly and the cats fight over the pillow in front of it to look out too.

Career wise I have had a few doors slammed in my face. I submitted two stories to two different publishers and was rejected. As I have learned more I see my mistakes and why the stories were rejected. One of them even sent me a letter and told me of the mistakes and to fix them and resubmit she would review and give me a second chance. I never did. I just put the story in an unfinished pile and I may work on it at another time. The other was for an anthology and they only chose so many. Both of these publishers have closed their doors so it was a blessing in disguise. I still have the rights to them and didn’t have to fight for them back.

I am considering self-publishing with my current story so that is an open door as I don’t have to worry about a publisher rejecting me.  I still may submit someday and face the doors again.

Do you face doors opening and closing?

In Ten Years >> #MFRWauthor #blogchallenge #amwriting

Hi Yall. Welcome back to the MFRW52 week blog challenge. We are on week 32 and our topic is  In Ten Years. I am wondering if this means what the world will be like in ten years or what my goal is for Ten years.  I am hoping that the apocalypse isn’t near and our world destroyed because that is scary but things aren’t looking so great. I am not getting into politics so I will skip on to if things don’t get destroyed and life is like it is what my goal is.

In ten years i will be the next Nicholas Sparks and every romance reader will own my books and be begging for more. All of my books will be HallMark Movies and grown ups will laugh and cry.  Oh, that’s a dream but hey it’s a good one!

I know my post is short but I just got home from nearly two months at my dad’s, I have to clean house and get a room ready for my daughter who will be moving in next Tuesday so I am swamped with things to do.

What are your dreams and goals for Ten years? let’s go see what the other bloggers have to say about this.

A Day In My Life #MFRWauthor #amwriting #blogchallenge

Welcome back to the MFRW52weekblogchallenge.  It is week 31 and out the topic is A Day In My Life. I am going to do this in two parts as my norm has been disrupted.

I am staying with my Dad in Hannibal Mo right now helping him deal with some medical issues.  So here is our day.

Get up around 630 make coffee, help him get his blood sugar tested then cook his breakfast.

We watch old game shows from the 70’s or sports center until 11 when his soap opera comes on and his lunch comes. In the meantime, I  try to keep up my reviews, type my blogs, listen to audio books or read if I can.

That’s if there aren’t Dr. appointments, tests, dietitians, diabetes meetings, therapy, etc. I try to cook dinner around 5, clean up and sit down by 7 when we watch Tv an around I  try to read till 11130.

Now that he is on his feet and adjusting to diabetes I will be going home next week, though life won’t get back to normal for a couple months since my daughter and her daughter will be moving in for a while before moving to Iowa.

A Typical day when things are normal is like this:

get up around 7 check emails get coffee start laundry take do out,

Then I get to write for a few hours.  Around lunch, I go out work in the yard or do housework till about 5 then cook dinner. After that, I like to get my shower and lay down to read.

Pretty boring.

Let’s go see a day in the other Authors lives.

I’m a Big Kid #MFRWauthor #favoriteholiday #Halloween #Christmas

Welcome back to MFRWauthors52weekblog challenge. We are at week 29. This week our topic is Our Favorite Holiday. Mine is a tie. I love both Halloween and Christmas. I adore decorating and doing theme dinners and having parties so these two holidays are my dream holidays. I will start with Halloween. I love fall and the colors. I always put up a new wreath sometimes one each week the last two usually more Halloween geared. I like to make decorations too. I have a table I set up in front of my house on Halloween and usually have one treat I have crafted, such as a ghost sucker or candy wrapped in cardboard tubes or a cute gift-bag.   I have three bowls that are interactive. One is a head that talks when you reach in or sings, the other two are hands that grab at you as you reach in. I usually wear a witch hat and all black. I don’t like to dress scary so I frighten small children.  I like to hang Halloween dishtowels in the house and other other decorations. Each Halloween I plan a dinner for my children and grandchildren. sometimes my sister and  her grandchildren may drop by too.  Some of the meals in the past have  been bloody bones and bloody fingers. (BBQ or Hot wings and french Fries with catsup) hosts and bats with guts and blood. ( tortilla chips cut out and guacamole and salsa I have made Jackolantern burgers and witch fingers.  Snake sandwiches, worms and eyeballs and the list goes on. Pinterest is my friend LOL.

Someone fed the grandkids after midnight they morphed into scary creatures.

On to Christmas. no the gift giving or receiving isn’t my favorite part. I could live without that part since it stresses me to no end buying gifts. Again I love decorating. I bring out my Christmas dishes, my holiday tablecloths and dishtowels. Sometimes i have three Christmas trees. One big one on the balcony  my white one in my office or dining room and another  fake green one in the other space. One i decorate with all my snowmen ornaments.  I love putting up lights on the patio awning some on the front porch. I also make a nice Christmas dinner with the Ham or Turkey or both, stuffing potatoes, etc. On Christmas I let the kids decide on the traditional fare or something different since by Christmas they are turkeyed out.  On Christmas eve I do a finger-food get together.  after Christmas on our first snow I always do a snowman themed dinner. The kids and grand-kids get a kick.

So as you see I love to decorate and do themed dinners. Let’s go see what the other author’s favorite Holidays are
