Thats’s Not Trash!~Thats Crafts! #MFRWauthor #hobbies #crafts

Welcome to week 6 of the 52-week MFRW blog challenge.  Each week we have a topic.

This week’s prompt is…My hobby is … When I’m not writing.

I nearly shouted in joy when I saw this topic! Hobbies? Boy, do I have hobbies!* Looks int the nearly bursting craft room.*

I  am not a hoarder.. nope I’m  sticking to it… I am a recycler and crafter. I see beauty in all things trash… well not all things but most. I use to throw it all in trash bags in a closet in my hall until I had the perfect project or time to make something with it.  Of course, then I could never find what I was looking for.

When we remodeled, a craft room was on my wish list. My husband took the old back porch we never used, enlarged it and made me a combo craft/ exercise room.  He also made me the perfect work table as well.  The table is big enough for my sewing machine, serger and cameo to sit out all the time and still have room to work. It is also big enough to cut out fabric on.

I use the kitty litter in the big yellow buckets leaving me buckets I can’t seem to toss as well.  When I had to unpack that closet, we tore out for the remodel I came up with a way to reduce my hoarding and organize as well. It also uses up those buckets. ( I knew they would come in handy and save me money on tubs!) I marked each one with the items I collect such as plastic creamer bottles, Jars, you get the Idea. When each bucket is stuffed full, I can’t keep more of that item until I use some out of the bucket. The buckets stack neatly behind my exercise equipment.

I also have my craft supplies. I have those plastic drawers I keep those in.

Sewing and Crochet are my favorite hobbies. I collect dolls of all sorts and like to sew for them,  I am starting a craft page and website to sell my goodies on in the next couple of months.

I can’t throw away old clothes since I see projects. I have tubs of jeans, t-shirts, assorted sweaters. Same rules apply. These tubs get full I have to let go the others. I have plenty things planned. I have a set of placements cut out already.

I have tons of fabric as well and yarn.  I finally got that all sorted and organized as well.

So as you see I have lots of hobbies besides writing.  Do you have any hobbies?

Through Thick & Thin #MFRWauthor #meetmybestfriend #Friday #Queen

It’s week 5 of the 52-week MFRW blogging challenge. It’s never too late you can always join in the fun. Learn more and join at MFRW.

Wow! Has it been 5 weeks already? I have to say I am really having fun with this and making new friends. speaking of friends this weeks topic is Meet My Best Friend. It is both hard and easy.  There were so many ways this could go, from writing software, books, kitchen appliances, pets and people. I always talk about my furbabies so I thought I would take a different route.

I watch my granddaughter struggle with friendships. She is at that age as a teen where friend some day enemies the next, then friends again.  I remember back when I was in high school. I was a recluse even then.   I had figured out quickly that I didn’t fit in with my friends from junior high. Some had moved, some joined sororities, some we remained acquaintances. I didn’t care for sports I would rather sit in the library or under a tree with a book. ( yes even back then I was a reading fanatic) I do wonder sometimes where some of those friends have gone. A few I have reconnected on Facebook, though we rarely chat. I tell my granddaughter to not get too upset when she gets older she will make more stable relationships.

I now have one friend that we seem to have weathered thick and thin, even though she still lives 2 hours away. We talk several ties a week if not nearly every day. We have been friends now almost 20 years. It doesn’t seem that way.  She has watched my children grow from teens ( there is at least a 10 years age difference in us) and I have watched hers from babies to now in college. Her son will graduate this year and daughter next. Danniel was with my daughter and me when she had her baby. She took off and sat up all night with us. I came and spent time with her and her daughter when her daughter had a tonsillectomy and again when she had surgery.  Danniel is more like a sister than a friend.

I also have a little group of on-line friends that we meet every morning chat a bit and write a while. We support each other for writing, and whatever ails us. Without these four ladies, I don’t know what I would do. I sure wouldn’t be writing. I hope some day to meet these women. That mean so much to me.

This song always pulls my heart-strings. I dedicate this song to you Danniel and my  Chatty Chicks You to my loyal follower Flossie!.

Do you have a friend that is your lifeline? Do you think an online friendship can be considered a best friend? ( I do)

This is a blog hop. Check out all the other authors to see who their best friends are. I can’t wait to check them out! remember to comment, tweet and share if you like the posts!

Sorry Editor I’m Shifty! #MFRWauthor #romance #bloghop

I do stick all those capital letters in there on purpose to keep you on your toes. Just kidding.  I have a bad habit of capitalizing out of the blue. I will be rereading my work and find capitals everywhere! That is everywhere except where they should be. I also have a bad habit of not capitalizing I.  Gosh how many times have I  put little i instead of I or ill instead of I’ll. I get in a rush and leave off apostrophes, and of course, I have issues with commas as well.

I found something that helps with the comma issues. I use a software called Grammarly.

It is an editing software that helps me with most of these things (except the capitals littering my work.) Grammarly has helped me cut back on my commas and get them in the right place. I am not recommending using this in place of a real life editor.  I use it as a tool to help save my editor time to mess with all that small stuff. Now she can focus on eliminating my capitals!

I am also very wordy.  I tend to like descriptions and writing about food. Every story I write has several meals in great detail. I don’t  know id this is a problem or not.

I have trouble finding ways to stop saying but or so, or as if.  I have come a long way in two years, after writing my first story for a story blog. I know I still have a lot to learn. Thank goodness for editors and their patience to work with me and all my issues!  I can tell my story, and they can help me find all of those goofs! I will give them job security.

Do you use a writing software along with your editor? Readers, do you like to read about things such as meals and descriptions of the settings and characters? What is overboard?

The MFRW  challenge is designed to help authors blog consistently, thoughtfully and with purpose.  We have a list of topics and post each Friday. Bring on the popcorn~Let’s watch TV! #MFRWauthor #bingewatching

Welcome to  #MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge. This is week 3, and our prompt is TV shows I binge on. I am not a big TV watcher. I would rather have a book in my hands or a headset on with my newest audible.

In the evenings My hubby and I set aside some time to watch tv together whether it be a movie or a show. This fall we were watching  Designated Survivor.  Kieffer Sutherland still has it! It was pretty good for an action show.

He likes documentaries so Christmas we binged on The Search for Jesus.  New Years he binged on Conspiracy Files on the BBC.

I did marathon watch  Pretty Little Liars with my granddaughter this summer, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t look for her to come over so we could get to the next issue ( I’m not allowed to mess up the schedule, so I have to wait for her)

My Hubby and I found a good series that had one season called Glitch and we binged that. I t is supposed to come back later this year.  As you can see, he is the TV controller in our family I just watch or crochet while he does.

I would like to get in on the hype of Sherlock and Torchwood before its taken off Net Flix. My Granddaughter says I need to watch One Tree Hill.

My trouble with binge watching is I don’t like to sit that long watching TV so one or two episodes at a time are about all I can do.

My binge watching is basically the Food Channel or Cooking Channel or if I can find a missed Top Chef, Masterchef or Project Runway.

What are your favorite shows? Anything you binge watch?

Check out the other blogs for more inspirational posts.

How does my family survive living with a writer? #MFRWauthor

How does my family survive living with a writer?

Hi, Y’all. I have joined the 2 weeks blog hop challenge. Each week we are given a prompt.
This week’s Prompt is How does my family survive living with a writer.
It’s just my husband, me and all the furbabies. My husband and I are both retired.
Writing gives me something to do. My husband stays out of it. (unless I need money for a cover or editor or something LOL.)
I usually get up early in the morning, get my grandkids off then come home and write. My writing time is done by the time the kids get home. My hubby sometimes sleeps in so the house is nice and quiet. Right now my office is cold, and I am down in my back( a disability I have) so I have been using the long chaise in the house. My furbabies love it. Molly, my dog, will curl up close beside me. Chloë, my special kitty finds her a nice cozy spot, usually next to me on a leg or down on my feet. Sometimes Kitness, my other cat will join the big loving pile.

I do have a beautiful office I should be using, but then I couldn’t cuddle with the furries.
I do wish someone in my family was more excited about my writing. It’d be good to have someone to talk to about my craft and discuss my stories. I have a great little group that does that, though.
Do you write or have a craft? How does your family deal with it?
Check out the other bloggers to see how their families survive writing.
