Templeton Reed has been hiding his inner polecat since he was a child. Keeping his animal secreted is hard for a shifter, especially when one is living in a secret community of mystical beings. It`s the wolf shifters that cause Templeton the most trouble with their darned sensitive noses.

Templeton has a run-in with the Lake Erie pack and their alpha, Mikel Lupei, at the Office for Transmogrification Registration (OTTER). Templeton has a desk job checking registration papers and dealing with wolf shifters is not part of his job description. After that upsetting meeting the meek and mild office worker suddenly finds himself in the center of not only civil unrest among the shifter community but a violent plan for a coup aimed at rousting Mikel.

Templeton and Mikel, a skilled tracker of rogue shifters, are soon not only fighting for their lives, they`re also fighting the rigidly archaic rules of their kind, as well as the person responsible for trying to take over Mikel`s pack from the inside. Can this magical odd couple turn a passionate attraction into a full-fledged love affair?

My Review

4 meows

Templeton is a skunk shifter and works at Office for Transmogrification Registration (OTTER) as a desk jockey, checking registration papers. Mikel and the Erie pack work there as trackers. After an attempt on Templeton’s life, Mikel seems to appoint himself as Templeton’s protector.
An Eerie Halloween a very fun, humorous and hot story with a bit of mystery and intrigue thrown in for good measure. I loved the playful banter between Templeton and the other characters. I laughed my butt off at the funny interjections and clichés of Templeton’s thoughts and telling of the story. There was a lot going on and several twists and turns. I have to say the mystery did throw me off and I am pretty good at figuring them out pretty early. You just can’t help to laugh at the way he jokes about his scent and stuff. I was skeptical at first about a skunk shifter, but it really worked.
If you’re looking for a different take on the paranormal, a slightly new world, lots of humor and some pretty hot, sensual,man-sex and just a good, sweet, funny, romantic mystery; I recommend this one.

Cat’s Meow~~Reviews That Purrr—Resurfaced by Leslie Lee Sanders

Cats meow reviews that purr

Hi Y’all. It’s been a crazy week for me with fall approaching my allergies have kicked in and I have been dealing with a flea issue, so lots of spraying in the house. Bad for my allergies and asthma. Good that I get to lay down afterward and read all afternoon and evening.

I was thrilled this week when my friend and one of my favorite authors contacted me and asked if I would like a review copy of Resurfaced. I squealed in delight. Scared the cats to death,  but man was I happy.

For those of you that don’t know Leslie, she is the author of a fabulous LGBT dystopian, Post-apocalypse series called Refuge Inc.

Resurfaced is a standalone story.

Title: Resurfaced

Series: (Refuge Inc. Series) A standalone of the Refuge Inc. series

Author: Leslie Lee Sanders

Genre: lgbt, Post-apocalyptic, dystopian

Abut the book:

Given a rare chance at sanctuary inside the subterranean Refuge facility, Damien and Patrick were lucky to survive the cataclysmic asteroid impact that left the world a dark, toxic wasteland. But has their luck finally run out?

Chosen to confront the devastation above on a mission that can save the future of mankind, they emerge but quickly realize they might be unable to safely return to their comforts, their families, and the only home they’ve known since impact.

Will developing a bond and building trust aid them when using their skills as a botanist and engineer to find a living plant? Will finding a plant be the key to returning to their home beneath the surface? Or will unearthing Refuge Inc. secrets be their downfall?

MY REVIEW

The stars of the show–oops– I mean book were Damien a botanist and Patrick is an engineer. They lived in Refuge Inc. and were sent out on a special Mission.

There weren’t any characters that stole my heart. Damien and Patrick are the only two in the book though some are mentioned. Damien keeps mentioning his son Connor and I hope to see his story soon.

This is a very short book without a lot of plot or action. It is a bit dark and very much based on the emotions of these two men.

The most memorable event for me was the end so I can’t tell you what it is. The story is short so read it and see. It will bring tears to your eyes.

The one thing that I didn’t like so much was that the story is so short I never really got a chance to know who these two men really were and the full extent of why they are on this mission. I would have loved this book to have been a little longer.  The entire premise of finding life outside Refuge Inc. was very intriguing and I wouldn’t have minded spending another hour or so with these men.

Resurfaced is part of the refuge Inc. series. Though it is not required to read in order if you have read the other books you would understand what Refuge Inc. is and the references to the legends. Plus it’s a good post-apocalyptic series if you’re looking for a new one to read.

If you like an emotional, heart wrenching dystopian story, and post-apocalypse You will like this.
