Retribution Runs Deep

The line between retribution and vengeance is often just as thin as the line between love and hate.

Cillian feels his life was stolen from him and is out for revenge. Grieving and seeking retribution for the death of his twin sister, August is easy prey. Cillian latches onto his grief and feeds into it, using the Outkast as a weapon to strike out at the family that abandoned him. When August learns the truth behind his sister’s death, everything changes.

Hector arrives at House Gaeland for a wedding, only to wind up in the middle of an unexpected war between brothers. He finds himself inexplicably drawn to an Outkast with hair as fiery as his temper. The immediate, intense, and mutual attraction stirs up an entirely different set of issues. To be together, August and Hector will need to thwart the most evil of plans and accomplish the most daring of rescues, all before Cirian follows through with his threat to drop August off the side of a cliff.

The people of House Gaeland have endured much, and yet, there is more trouble on the horizon. A birth and a wedding are far too much happiness for the universe to allow, so to level the playing field, the devil must add his cards to the deck. Violence begets violence and Cirian is perfectly willing to take a dagger to his brother, if need be. Will he feel the same if the blood spilled belongs to someone much closer to his heart?

Snapped is the third book in the Opposites series, the series must be read in order. It is an adult, dystopian majorly M/M series that encompasses all manners of relationships (including M/F and F/F). In this world logic is irrelevant, love is key, and things get broken—just ask Aiyan and Kaden.

*Warning* there is a brief mention of sexual assault, though not in detail.

A Little Message from A.E. Via.

I’m back with a new release from my best-selling MM series, Nothing Special. I must say it was a blast writing these guys after so long. People have asked why it took a while to get this next installment out and I can only say because I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue with the series. It took a lot of thought – but to my God and Day lovers – I’ve decided to commit to at least two more books in this series. I hope you like this one. Some have classified Nothing Special V as my love letter to my fans – I adored that compliment because it’s accurate. I wanted to give you all a little of everything and every character from the previous books. A glimpse of everyone’s life and what’s been going on with them. I have several POVs in this installment, but not in a confusing way. I love to give the reader a full connection, a peek into other character’s head, and I believe the fans of this series appreciate that. As an avid romance reader myself, it’s one of my pet peeves to only get one point of view in a romance novel. I feel like there’s so much missing when I can’t connect with the other MC. Anyhoo… this isn’t about my likes. It’s about you. So I’ll shut up and let you read the blurb. If you like what you see, pick this one up. Don’t forget to let me know what you think.

The boys are back and fiercer than ever!

“We were a unit tonight, moving as one. Even apart, we are deadly, but when combined – we are f**kin’ unstoppable.” ~~ God ~~

Atlanta’s notorious narcotics task force is at it again. They are stronger, bigger, and better than ever. Especially when a city councilman sends RECON Marine, Edwin Steele – who’s been blacklisted from his Oakland department – to join the team. God and Day weren’t recruiting. They have a lot on their plates, like the fact they’re supposed to be getting married soon. They don’t have the time or the patience to integrate a decorated war hero with a slight chip on his shoulder into their well-oiled machine.

A hothead that’s uncontrollable and terrible with authority… but wasn’t that their team motto?

Steele was ready to hang up his shield. He was done fighting with bigoted bastards that couldn’t respect the job. He was good at fighting; he just needed the right team to fight with. When his uncle – City Councilman, Rasmus Steele – shows him a video of God’s team in action, he knows right away; it’s where his nephew belongs in order to restore his faith.

Steele pointed to the driver, a behemoth of a man wielding those massive firearms like a true beast… like a soldier. “And him. Who the hell is he?”

“That’s your new boss. Lieutenant Cashel Godfrey… they call him… God.”

Steele was skeptical about his new placement, but when he meets God’s technology specialist/computer genius, “Tech,” he’s willing to give it his all, and he definitely shows and proves.

Tech is stunning. His sweater vest and khakis, a stark contrast to the blue-jeaned roughnecks he works with. A beautiful sheep amongst the wolves. Steel thinks there’s no way the brilliant man would be interested in a hardhead like him, but Tech has a few badass hidden talents of his own and manages to surprise him… surprise all of them.

This story is a part of a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a HEA. There are no multiple pairings in this novel.

Here  is a little more of Nothing Special V

“Finish,” Steele whispered gravely. “What’s not all?”

“It’s not important.” Both their voices were low as if there were someone else around to hear.

“I didn’t ask if it was important.”

“This is my job and I do what I’m required.”

“But….”

“There’s no but. It’s nothing. I’m happy where I am.” Tech looked down at his wrist, which was still in Steele’s grasp, but instead of just holding it, Steele was rubbing his thumb across his pulse, carefully watching him. Tech exhaled slowly. He could feel himself vibrating with hunger for this man. He wished he could stop it. All he could do was pretend he wasn’t fazed by it all. By Steele’s magnificence. Yes, he was just a man. An amazing man who wasn’t afraid to risk his life for a stranger. Who fought for something bigger than himself. That meant something to Tech… it meant a lot. Steele was the exact type of man, soldier, like the ones that’d tried to save his brother in a war he should’ve never been in. Even though that black ops team wasn’t able to save his brother’s whole squadron, they’d saved a lot of them. Steele was that type of man, and it made Tech feel empowered just being near him. Not wanting Steele to see his infatuation, he tried to appear casual.

“You are lying to me.” Steele stood up and crowded into Tech’s smaller frame, moving him back against the cool brick wall. Trapping him there, Steele’s chest persistent against his own. So close together, Tech could feel the solid planes there. Could smell the scent of the masculine soap Steele washed with this morning. He held the back of Tech’s neck in one hand and pressed the back of his other hand up under his chin, just to the left of his Adam’s apple. Two fingers pushed against the pulse now throbbing just beneath the tender skin. Steele’s touch burned in a delicious way. His head was lowered, that raspy stubble scraping against Tech’s smooth temple, his intense eyes closed in deep concentration while Steele broke apart the lie Tech was trying so desperately to construct.

“What’s not all, Tech?” Steele spoke. His mouth moving against his temple, his voice coarse and smooth at the same time.

“I told you. Nothing. I misspoke.” Tech shook against Steele’s proximity, begging his lower body not to react. He felt the back of the two fingers push in deeper, forcing him to lift his head.

“You’re lying,” Steele hissed. He flipped his hand over and spread it out over Tech’s throat, those two fingers still pressed over his pulse while the others rested over his Adam’s apple. “The way I’m touching you right now. Is it turning you on?”

“What? No.” Tech laughed nervously, his hands lying limp by his side, unsure what to do with them.

He felt Steele’s lips curve up. Did he know Tech lied about that too?

MY REVIEW

5 Meows 5 purrs

As A.E. Stated in her opening in the post, this is written in multiple views and it is easy to follow. Each chapter or viewpoint is marked with the name of whose view it is in. We get more of God and Day and  Rux and Greene. We get lots of insight into their home life and a happy surprise with God and Day.  I think getting to see these sides of these four men it makes them more human and realistic, not just the bad boy cops they are. An added surprise was getting to see a little more Preston and his two men. I have to say I was extremely happy as I adored Preston. In case you don’t know who Preston is he started off the series in a Standalone book You Can See Me. This is where we meet day for the first time.

Tech (Shawn) was introduced a book or two ago and is techy behind the scenes man. In this book, Tech wants to be more and has been taking classes on his own to try to get in the field. We also get a new agent, Steele who fits in perfectly with Rux and Greene.  Though this book is a lot of romance and inside their home lives, there is some suspense and action as well. I will say I would have loved to have seen more of Shawn in the field and a bit more action.

I am super excited that there is another book on its way!

If you like police, special forces, Alpha male detectives, action, romance and some good old hot man-sex, you will like this.

I highly recommend this series. In case you haven’t read any of these books and are looking for a good series. You can find them on good reads here.

You can find the first four books here separately or in a set.

Here is the link to  You Can See Me with Prescott and his men and where we first meet Day.  This was the first AE Via book I ever read and one of my favorites.

What Christmas means to me #2giveaways @DivinePromotions #Bloghop

What Christmas means to me.

Hi everyone welcomes to Divine Promotions Christmas Blog Hop. This is a hop designed to lift Christmas spirit and be fun. There is a grand prize, and most participants will be offering a prize as well.

What Christmas means to me.

Christmas used to be a time of happiness and cheer. A time when our families all got together on one day and celebrated with a big dinner, decorations, laughter, and joy. Yes, there was gifts, but what I loved most were the music and laughter of all the kids and family members. It was a happy time.

But we all grow up. Family members move, and some pass on. Things changed a lot with the loss of my mom several years ago, my dad and brother moving five hours away and me and both sisters being disabled now.  It is hard to get all the family members together with job schedules and other family obligations.

This is supposed to be a post to boost spirit, and that’s what I hope to do. Just because situations change and traditions fall to the wayside, money is tight, whatever the reason doesn’t mean you can’t have a joy-filled holiday season.

Is it too expensive or your health doesn’t allow you to decorate to the nines like you used to? Pick something that makes you happy. Add one or two small things. Get inexpensive, small tree ,add a few dollar store decorations.  or just popcorn garland. Get one Poinsetta for color, Use just one of your old favorites you have in storage. You don’t have to spend a lot or put up a  lot of lights that drag on utilities.

Is it the holiday music you love and miss? Turn on the radio, pop in an old cassette, find the holiday music station on your tv and listen to one or two a day or while you cook.

Do you love to bake or make candy but not able to stand on your feet for extended periods of time anymore, or have a limited income? Pick one or two of your favorite recipes. You don’t have to make fifty kinds of candy.  Did you used to make big baskets for your neighbors and coworkers but no longer can afford it or feel like it. Again pick one or two kinds, put in smaller tins or wrap in lovely saran wrap. You don’t have to take everyone a full batch.  A piece or two per person will put a smile on someone’s face, especially f they don’t make candy or get any gifts. You don’t have to buy brand name products either. Shop big box stores for bulk or do as I do and go to an Aldis or no name brand store; I save a ton, and people love my candy. I got more compliments one year for my fudge than the year before with the off brand chocolate chips and peanut butter.  This time of year there is sales stock up, clip coupons online. But whatever you do, don’t go overboard. Make it fun not overwhelming. You don’t want to work all day then bake till midnight.

my cookie Jars

Gifts, I don’t have an answer. We shop for immediate family only these days as a family has grown so large.  You could always draw names for extended family if that works for you. Homemade gifts are lovely too. Maybe a gift of time. Offer to take someone to an appointment or shopping.

One of my favorite things about the Holidays is sending cards. It’s funny because I normally am not big on cards. For Christmas, though I can send a card with a small gift or just a wish to people talk to online or are far away.  I send out anywhere for 50 to 100. So far this year I am at 65 I think. I gather my list after Thanksgiving update each year, buy stamps, make my return labels, figure out what to put in which cards and set aside a couple of hours a night to work on them. I like to listen to Christmas music while I do this. This is my happy place and if I can only choose one thing for the Holidays this will be it.

I am going to put up my tree this weekend, I have three poinsettias and will get out my holiday dishes as well.

My menu will be simple.  Ham, beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes in orange sauce, cranberry relish, and rolls. I will make some pies most likely pecan and apple or berry and there will be an array of fudge and cookies depending on how I feel.

Everyone loves my fudge both peanut butter and Chocolate I use the same recipe for both.

I will share my favorite fudge recipe with you. It is inexpensive and easy.

Prepare a sheet pan with lots of thins pieces or a cake pan for thicker ones. I use a 9 x 15 and get a good amount. I line with foil or parchment and spray with buttery cooking spray let the edge of the liner hang over each end for easy lifting.

2/3 can of evaporated milk

1 jar of marshmallow fluff

1 package of your choice of chips(peanut butter—chocolate (milk, bittersweet or semi(I use semi) or white chocolate

3/4 stick of butter

3 cups of sugar

Vanilla

Nuts optional

Bring butter sugar and milk to a full rolling boil. Add vanilla. I sometimes use other extracts such as Raspberry. Stir continuously for 5 minutes remove from heat add chocolate and marshmallow and stir. Add in nuts. Stir until thoroughly blended Pour quickly into prepared pan and let sit several hours to cool.  Be sure to use heavy tall pan and long-handled utensils for stirring I with a wooden spoon. Do not use plastic I boiled one, one year. Another tip if you have arthritis or weak hands I found after removing from stove I could put in a very deep bowl over my fluff and chips and use a mixer. I have a deep kitchen aid that works well. Warning: go at very low speed and stay back, so you don’t get burned.

I hope these tips help you make fudge if you got to where the stirring was too much. Cut into smaller pieces as a little can go a long way.

Another thing I love about Christmas is the ugly sweaters, I don’t have one, but I do have my Santa hats. When I worked, I wore one every day at work beginning Black Friday. It became such a tradition that sometimes people gifted me new ones with crazy sayings.  I haven’t been able to work for over 5 years now, my hats sit in a box upstairs. I pull one out, but that is usually it. This year I think my  new tradition will be to hang up my Ho Ho Hats ( that’s what everyone called them)

15424519_10154311221845345_529367215_n

I also wore Christmas earrings. I thought this year my prize will be this adorable pair of Cat Christmas earrings.

Excerpt…
Chapter Twelve
Steele

Steele
looked at Tech’s profile while he set out all the tiny pieces to make him an
earpiece. His hands moved methodically over the delicate pieces, putting each
item in its place. It was way outside of Steele’s scope of knowledge. The young
man was a genius. As he looked around at all the sophisticated technology, he
couldn’t help but marvel at the detective. This was something you’d see built
by an engineer that worked for Bill Gates or something, making a six-figure
salary, not in an Atlanta precinct, and he found himself wanting to know Tech’s
story.
He
looked sexy today in his fitted jeans and black, slim-fitted, ribbed
turtleneck. The black, plastic framed glasses set off his entire “I’m a hot
nerd” look, but the body didn’t quite match. He was fit and toned in a Peter
Parker kind of way. Tech probably couldn’t get overly muscular, but it was
clear he worked out. His biceps were probably the size of small apples when he
flexed, and Steele hoped he’d get an opportunity to see them.
Tech
finally moved to get to work, putting a piece of the gray putty on the end of
the five-inch forceps. But as Tech’s hand got closer to the side of his face,
Steele could see the slight tremor. Fuck.
Steele slowly reached up and got a gentle grip of Tech’s narrow wrist, bringing
his hand back down. He took his other hand and pushed back the long sleeve of
Tech’s shirt, locating the spot on his wrist he could manipulate with a little
pressure to help calm some of Tech’s anxiety over having to touch him –
especially when they hadn’t approached the elephant in the room. He looked into
Tech’s brown eyes behind those clear lenses while he rubbed his thumb in a
small circle over the smooth skin. He lost himself in the movement; Tech’s skin
was so pale and soft as he caressed him that he almost forgot why he was even
touching him in the first place. Maybe because of their first interaction
Steele felt an extremely strong pull towards Tech.
“Don’t
be afraid of me, detective,” Steele whispered, watching closely as Tech’s long
lashes fluttered over his intelligent eyes. “I’m sorry I hurt you. I truly am.
I promise… I swear on my fallen brothers that I’ll never ever hurt you like
that again. I wouldn’t’ve come back if I didn’t think I could control myself…
especially around you. I’m ashamed of what I did.”
Tech’s
breath came out in shallow gusts while he let Steele continue to touch him.
“I’m sorry, too. I didn’t mean to offend you, either… or hurt you.”
“I
know you didn’t.” Steele wanted to lean in closer, somehow get better
acquainted in a different way, but he’d try to establish some trust between
them first. He slid Tech’s sleeve up until it was bunched around his tight
bicep. He stopped caressing the pressure point when he saw the dark purple
bruise above Tech’s elbow. Oh no. He felt even shitter than last night. No
words he’d thought of seemed good enough to speak, right now.
“I’m
okay. Really. I’m stronger than you may think,” Tech said hoarsely, his eyes
darting away. He looked upset, but for a different reason.
“I
know you’re strong. I felt it. But I know the joint is swollen and aching in
there.” Steele let Tech’s wrist go and reached for his backpack. “I brought
something to help.”
Tech
inched in a little closer and Steele took that as a good sign. Ignoring the
delicious coolness of Tech’s cologne, he reached inside and took out the
circular metal container. He didn’t take much with him as he moved from place
to place but he did keep his array of natural remedies he’d acquired from
doctors all over the world, from hypnotherapist to Ayurvedic physicians.
The
can of presoaked bandages was the best he’d ever encountered for aching muscles
and joints. It was made of so many herbs and oils; he’d never be able to recite
them all, but he knew of the primary ones. He took off the tin lid and Tech’s
neck jerked back at the potent smell that blasted their senses, even their eyes
began to water. Tech put his hand up to his nose. “What the hell? Oh my god.”
Steele
chuckled deeply, reaching out to cup Tech’s hand, pulling him back towards him
until was standing between his legs. “I know. I know. It’s the Capsaicin. It’s
an oil extracted from hot chile peppers. I think, mixed with the peppermint,
it’s a bit overpowering, but all the properties together do wonders in reducing
inflammation.”
“There’s
no way I can walk around the office with these on. God’ll kick my ass out of
here so fast.”
“No
he won’t. Because after the bandages are on, I’m going to wrap it in plastic.
It’ll contain the smell. Trust me.” He looked up at Tech’s eyes, realizing
their close proximity. He’d done it on purpose, opening his legs a little
wider. He wanted to show Tech he had a measure of gentility under all his
strength.
Tech
was quiet while Steele carefully wrapped both elbows. “It’s cold. Feels kind of
good, despite the smell.” Tech’s smile was gorgeous and warm.
“It’s
the Camphor cream. A lot of physicians say use hot temperatures for aches, some
say cold. I’ve found cool works best, especially for acute pain.” Steele began
wrapping the Saran wrap. “Out in the field, we’ll try just about anything to
eliminate pain. Of course, we had our corpsmen; but taking narcotics was a last
resort, we needed to stay sharp.”
Steele
pulled down one sleeve and then the other. He closed up his canister and tucked
it back inside his bag. He wiped his hand on a hand towel in his backpack and
zipped it up. “So, what do you think?” Steele knew the medicine well. Already
knew it was working its way into the layers of Tech’s skin, giving him some
much-needed relief. At least Steele was able to fix a little of the damage he’d
done.
“Much
better, actually. Wow, it’s like a miracle serum,” Tech said, bending his arm,
testing the mobility.
“Keep
them on overnight, if you can. It’ll really feel a lot better by tomorrow.”
“Okay,”
Tech agreed, almost wistfully. He stood there rooted in place, just watching
him for a moment and Steele saw his eyes drop to his mouth. Steele licked his
lips.
Tech
blinked, dropping his eyes down, moving back to the side, in front of his kit.
“I better get this going. I’m sure your new partners will be ready for you
soon.”
Steele
tilted his head to the side when Tech reached for his earlobe again. He didn’t
make a sound and he fought not to react, but the hot detective touching him on
his spot was making it difficult. No words were spoken now, only silence and
Steel’s shameless thoughts. He wanted to moan so badly when those agile fingers
moved across the fleshly part of his ear, manipulating the soft substance to
mold to his canal. Tech’s face was so close to his he could feel his exhale
while he peered into the tunnel of his ear. His breath was a mix of coffee and
something else sugary… like he’d had pancakes for breakfast. Steele turned
inward, wanting to smell, wanting to taste.
“Hold
still,” Tech whispered, close to him. “Won’t be long.”
Oh, damn.
That erotic voice. A mild tenor, lighter than bass but far from feminine.
Absolutely perfect. Steele would love to hear it right here in Tech’s
sanctuary. Standing in the midst of all he’d engineered with his brilliant
mind. In the darkness, illuminated with only the flashing red and green signal
indicators on Tech’s monitors, not the harsh florescent lighting over his head
right now. Ahh. He’d hold that taut
body close to him while he caressed the petite round globes of his ass. Would
Tech fit to his body the same way he was curving that malleable paste to fit
his ear? Steele could feel his heart beating faster the more his fantasy played
out in his mind. He closed his eyes and pictured himself coming back from a
dangerous bust and Tech taking him into this room, keeping the lights off and
bringing his adrenaline down with his lustful voice and feather light touches.
“Doing
real good,” Tech breathed quietly, still so damn close. “This is going to be a
little warm now, so I can fold it easier.”
“‘K,”
Steele responded throatily, without knowing what he’d just consented to. He
felt the slick piece of putty slide back into his ear; it was nice and toasty,
like it’d been dipped in warm honey. Still, Tech blew on his ear like it was
too hot for him to take. Oh, he could take the heat. “Mmm.”
“You
okay?” Tech paused.
Steele’s
eyes popped open, the bright lighting jerking him to reality. Fuck, did I just moan? “Oh, yeah. I’m
good. Fine.”
“Alright.
We’re all done,” Tech said, putting the intricately curved piece of goo in a
plastic dish and closing it. “This’ll harden, then I’ll put the casing with the
mechanism over it and you’re good to go.” Tech looked back and forth before his
eyes landed back on him. “I’m real glad we’re square. This team… we’re a family
ya’know, a unit. Everyone is partnered up… in love. We don’t take risks with
anyone’s lives. It’d be devastating.”
Tech
was preparing to walk away and Steele wasn’t ready for him to. He stood and
walked up behind the smaller man while he stood in front of a row of shelves
and put his kit away. When Steele spoke, Tech jumped slightly but settled right
back down. “And who are you in love with?”
“My
job. I don’t have time for all that,” Tech answered. Steele had a feeling that
even Tech didn’t believe that answer.
Steele’s
chin was over Tech’s shoulder. He didn’t grab his narrow waist but he wanted
to. “How warm does this job keep you at night, detective?” Steele didn’t wait
for an answer; instead, he turned and took the weapons Tech had placed out for
him and left his space. But he made a mental note to revisit that topic real soon.
As he made his way back across the office, he hoped that Ack would approve.
It’d been a long time since any other man gave Steele’s body this kind of
reaction.

The Story of ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES

It’s been a couple years since Commander John Marion – the US Navy’s most decorated SEAL – hung up his dog tags, choosing his cherished Alpha over war.

Call and Alpha have settled comfortably into their carefree lives nestled in the mountains of South Carolina. No more combat for the Commander and no more ordered killings for the deadliest assassin in the world.

However, nothing stays peaceful forever.

When Alpha’s brother Omega comes to their secluded home with a distressing message from their Order, Alpha has to answer the call.  But what neither of them expect is for the Order to send them a new assassin, one just as deadly as both of them, to seek their counsel and bring them back Persia.

Lion’s commanding presence was not at all what any of them anticipated. Especially Omega. Lion realizes what Omega is to him right away, but the stubborn man fights his every advance. Lion knows he and Omega have to connect if they’re going to be victorious. He was sent to bring back an army but if he can’t get his cherished to yield to him, they are sure to fail.

Call refuses to let Alpha fight a gang of rebel assassins without him. Omega will fight by his brother’s side, no matter what… and Hawk saw them coming for his help before anyone else. Together they’ll fight the toughest opponents they’ve ever faced. As always… these badass warriors are up for the challenge.

MY REVIEW

5 meows 5 purrs(hot hot)

Authors Note: THIS IS THE THIRD INSTALLMENT IN THIS SERIES and CAN STAND ALONE.
Book 2 is recommended to read first.
The Story of ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES

I was thrilled to get more of my favorites though I am sorry t see this series end.
Call and Alpha receive a surprise visit from Omega, Alpha’s brother. Omega isn’t enjoying retirement or being I America as much as Alpha. He brings word that there is an uprising in their Order and another Assassin needs their help to take down the rebels.
Lion is the Assassin come to ask for help. He has taken Alpha’s place in the order and finds more than assistance when he meets Alpha and Omega.

they enlist the help of Hawk (the seer) and set up a team to take out the rebels. it should be a quick job but treachery and betrayal slow them down.

This is such a great story. you get lots of romance as the men are more than just life partners but more like parts of each other. Like they are one. The sex is hot too and there is a lot of it, yet it doesn’t ake away from the plot or the action.
Now for the action. Wow! A.E. Via writes the action so well that i could visualize every move. It was like watching an action movie on TV.

If you like drama, action, assassins, romance and lots of hot man-sex this is definitely for you!
*I recieved a copy for an honest review*
