“…a fantastic debut that kept me turning the pages and wanting to know what was going to happen to these two characters that had stolen a little piece of my heart.” ~Tamara (Goodreads Review)

CHAPTER ONE

My ears are ringing. The dull drone is amplified by the drumming of blood thumping in my head. This is not from the hordes of people singing along to our songs at a sold out concert. No, no. This ringing is from the understanding of the conversation that just went down. My band mate Sean is nowhere to be found. He’s dropped off the face of the Earth. That means, without him. I have no band. Without a band, I have no tour. Without a tour, I have no career. And without a career, I’m nobody. My band is my life, and now that the other half of the band is gone, I have no life. A little voice in my head is telling me ‘I’m Reece fucking Ashton, and I’m a superstar’. Well, I was a rock God until about twenty-four hours ago. I stand up, stretch my legs in the jeans I’ve been wearing since yesterday, and start to pace my manager’s office in the heart of London. My hands make a fist and shake my fingers open. This sick to the stomach feeling hasn’t left me since I found his letter of ‘I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you’ in my dressing room yesterday. My stomach rolls again, but my anger tampers it down just for a moment. I close my hands over my ears, but that just amplifies the ringing, and let out a long frustrated sigh when I move my hands.

“There have to be options.” My gravelly voice doesn’t sound like my own. A couple of hours of hard drinking and trying to find the answer at the bottom of a bottle has left me feeling less than stellar. “What about a replacement?” I run my hand over my stubbly chin before grabbing at the back of my neck to try and loosen the muscles. I push off the chair, and it causes it to knock into the coffee table. I turn and catch a glimpse of myself in the window’s reflection. My normally styled blond hair is a floppy, lank mess and in serious need of a wash. Everything about me needs a wash. The dark circles under my green eyes highlight my tiredness. My Hendrix shirt has trapped the smell of sweat and alcohol as I’ve been too busy trying to call Sean to get answers and getting drunker with each dial. My hand slides up to my bicep and touches the tattoo peeking out from under my sleeve. It’s a picture of sheet music wrapping around my bicep. The first few chords of my first number one. It’s my reminder that hard work will pay off. It’s about the only thing that hasn’t been taken from me. As tired and as seedy as I am, I’m itching to go out for a run. I think I got an hour’s sleep on my manager’s lounge. This was the same lounge that I punched and kicked the shit out of when no one could answer me and the rotting truth had been confirmed. The last twenty-four hours have been my version of hell. I’m in desperate need of a shower, but wanting this sorted is my top priority.

“And even if a replacement was an option, what are you going to pay them with? Hugs? You have no access to any equity. The company isn’t going to comp you on this,” David, my manager says while holding his palms up to me. Even when it’s gone to shit, he’s optimistic about the future. “Besides, it was a done deal. Either the pair of you or nothing. That’s what the contract says.” So much for optimistic.

Taking David’s advice, we pooled all our assets under the business name. My bank accounts, bar one, are all managed under the umbrella that is now being checked over by the fine-toothed comb of the taxation department. That equals all my assets, even the money in my accounts tied to the business, are frozen. I have one credit card in my name and was set up for emergencies. I’m meant to be rehearsing on a stage that sits in the middle of an arena getting ready for our first world tour, not chewing my nails in an office watching it all disappear before my very eyes. My fingers dig into the back of the material covered lounge chair, and I lift it off the ground to bring it down sharply. If all eyes weren’t on me before, they are now. The jolt satisfies only a tiny part of me, and I fight the urge to toss the chair out of the window. Knowing that I would have to pay for that window to be fixed is the only thing stopping me.

“I can’t fucking believe this!” My left fist slams into my right palm. Pivoting on my foot, I pace in front of David’s desk. My knuckles rap twice on his desk before I turn to face him. “Truly. All fucking gone?” My right eye starts to twitch. I throw my fisted hands in the air and yell out ‘fuck’ ’til my lungs empty before pressing a knuckle into my eye. The two younger executives make for a quick exit following my outburst. I wait for them to scurry from the sinking ship that is my life before David turns back towards me. I’m fighting the urge to punch someone in the throat. “How in the fuck did this happen? How could this happen? You’re my manager, tell me how this happened! I trusted you that this would be the best decision. Where does this leave me? I can’t leave the country. I have a house I own outright back in Australia, but I can’t leave here to go back to it. What am I supposed to do?”

Rock Bottom is a great story of  not being ready for everything. For taking everything for granted. Reece is on the top of the world preparing for a world tour when he finds himself in his manager’s office with a missing partner and all of his accounts frozen. His manager offers him a home in a Podunk town in nowhere and encourages him to write some solo stuff. Reece is faced with more important issues. He is in a house and can’t even work a toaster, washer or dishwasher. This really added some comedy to a story that would’ve been quite angsty. He meets a young woman who seems immune to his charms even though she recognizes him and is willing to keep his secret safe.  She introduces him to Pinterest ( which is so funny). Little does Reece know that Madelyn also has a secret.
I really liked the story a lot. there is a sweet romance that slowly builds, some comedy, and a big twist about where and why his partner is gone. Both Reece and Madelyn are intriguing and charming characters. Though Reece the rock-star was arrogant and a jerk we find that once knocked off the stage, Reece the person has spunk, heart and is sexy as heck.
There is also the manager and Madelyn’s brother Trent( I thought was hot) and later we get Deni and a funny hotel worker.
If you like funny, sweet and sexy romance, rock-stars, journalists and an all over good story this is for you.

Josephine Traynor is very good at keeping secrets – she’s been a closeted writer for years, but only got brave enough last year to show her writer friend a small chunk of what she’d written.

She’s a mother of two small boys and only told her husband about her book when it was completed. God knows what he thought she was doing on the computer for all those hours!
Josephine’s a lover of tea and has a thing for all things that smell like vanilla. She loves a good book that makes her laugh and has heaps of character growth. Her aim is to write books that inspire, cause sore stomach muscles and have memorable characters for all the right reasons.
Josephine Traynor is not her real name. The pen name is derived from Josephine being her favourite girls name and Traynor is inspired by Will Traynor from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. His message from that book was for everyone to be brave in this world and to make their mark. This was a huge lesson for her to get over her fear of publishing. She’s doing this for her, her dream is to be a published author, what’s your dream and go after it.

Keeton worries that they are too different when he hears all about her tight-knit family and especially her over-protective father and uncles. Is he in for the long ride or will meeting the Sawyer clan make him ride off into the sunset?
I really liked this story a lot. It is a little different from the other three books, being New Adult  although it is sexy it isn’t as explicit as the others and there isn’t any tragedy or a lot of angst.
I personally, would have liked a bit more conflict, and the story suddenly ended then jumped two and a half years ahead in the epilogue,  but I still enjoyed the sweet, sexy story.
If you like spunky strong leading ladies, loyal, hot, college men, cowboys, new adult romance, and spicy love stories this is for you.
This is book four in the series and I do think it needs to be read in order. If you are looking for a great contemporary western or cowboy series this is definitely for you! I can’t wait to read trinity’s story next.

Evie caught her fiancé having sex with one of his protegé’s and this time she left for good but she doesn’t have a job. very little money or a place to go. Her best friend tries to get her a job with her brother and when Evie and Gian meet sparks fly.

I liked this book a lot. I loved how Evie got caught up in Gian’s mess but held strong. There is a lot of twists and turns, plenty of drama and suspense and some hot ,steamy sex scenes. I would’ve never guessed the outcome.

If you like drama, crime family’s enemy’s to lovers, Dancers, twists and turns and some steamy sex this is for you! I also thought it was a bit different. A fresh story.

I received a copy free for my honest opinion.

I wanted to spend the night getting lost in this woman. I wanted to kiss her. Taste her. Adore her. I wanted to put the past and the future in a sealed box and pretend it didn’t exist for a few hours.

I should walk out this door right now, but the longer I looked at her, the more my logic crumbled. I leaned forward, my lips only a whisper away from hers. My brain cells scrambled.

I smelled a hint of jasmine. I saw the tiny gold flecks in her otherwise dark irises. I counted the sprinkle of freckles on her nose. She had seven. It was my new favorite number.

Fuck Tony. He could wait.

“Evie,” I groaned, unable to resist any longer. She was the forbidden fruit, and I needed another taste of her brand of sin. I let my lips glide across hers. Once. Twice. Her eyes drifted closed, and a faint hum slipped through her full lips.

“Gian, what the hell are we doing?”

“I don’t know.” And I didn’t. This was madness.

After spending years practicing law and running a real estate development company with her husband, Lisa decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer and she must confess that inventing characters is so much more fun than writing contracts and legal briefs. A native of Colorado, she lives with her husband and three children in Denver.

Cat’s Meow~~ Reviews That Purr ~~Worst Laid Plans

Title: Worst Laid Plans
Series: A Maddox Storm Mystery, Book 1
Author: Claire Robyns
Genre: Mystery, Humor novel with romantic elements
Release Date: February 1, 2016
All Maddox Storm wanted was to come home and hide from the world in peaceful solitude for a few short weeks. Oh, and give her soon-to-be ex cheating scumbag husband a fat headache while she’s at it. He hates all small towns, and Silver Firs in particular, with the kind of passion most men reserve for the bedroom.

So call it revenge, or call it poetic justice, but investing his savings in the town’s founding inn seemed like the perfect plan for all her needs.

But everything goes out the window when Maddox finds her arch-nemesis dead as a doormat in the kitchen downstairs.

Before she knows it, she’s embroiled in a murder investigation and tangling with the smoky-eyed detective on the case. Not that she doesn’t trust him to do his job, but he may not be quite as motivated as she is to bring the guilty party to justice. After all, she’s the one who unwittingly incriminated upstanding townsfolk and worse, she may be living under the same roof as a pair of unlikely murderers.

My gaze settled on the fairytale castle directly across on the opposite shore.
It wasn’t dusk yet, but the place was lit up with the soft glow of a million candle-bulb lights that spilled out onto the manicured lawn.
Lakeview Spa Retreat.
The exclusive spa was a favorite getaway for celebrities and lured all the usual gawkers and stalkers, all of which turned a lucrative trade for Silver Firs in addition to the regular wine touring crowd. It had turned a lucrative trade for Hollow House, too, until the budget hotel Fortune Paradise had gone up.
That was also the reason Joseph McMurphy hated Silver Firs with a passion most men reserved for the bedroom. Oh, he hated all small towns, said they made him feel claustrophobic. But he had a special loathing for a town that thrived on invading the privacy of the rich and famous.
I’d taken it as a testament of his undying love when Joe had given in to me and agreed to hold our wedding in my home town last year. Hah! We should just have gone down to City Hall, squeezed an hour in somewhere between a dental checkup and a matinee show.
So call it revenge.
Actually, let’s call it poetic justice.
But I thought clearing out our joint bank account to buy a significant stake in Hollow House, the evil den (his words, not mine) that housed and fed all those celebrity gawkers, had a certain dramatic flair to it. Too bad Joe had been too occupied with Chintilly Swan’s generous assets to remember his scorned wife had full signing power on the bank account.
My purse squealed like a piglet in distress, sending me into a near-state of cardiac arrest.
I thumped my chest to get my heart beating again and rushed over to dig out my cell phone before the next squeal. I considered my options as I turned the volume down, but she wouldn’t stop until she’d reached me and then I’d get the third-degree. As good an actress as I was, not even I could lie my way through one of Mom’s inquisitions.
And if you’re wondering about my mom’s ringtone, just think of it as electrotherapy. A little pre-emptive heart shock did an excellent job of putting anything my mom had to say into perspective.
That squealing piglet had done wonders for our relationship.
I hit the answer button and pressed the phone to my ear. “Mom, how are you?”
“What on earth are you doing at Hollow House and what time can we expect you for dinner?”
See? My heart didn’t even stutter.

Maddox found her husband in a compromising position with the starlet she understudied. Out for revenge she heads home and invests nearly all the money in his account in what was once a big inn in her hometown. Upon arrival she finds it running down and owned by the last fasmiky member . Mr Hollow is very strange and doesn’t trust people as Maddie soon finds out that the inn has a Butler and a cook and not much else. She also finds the cook to be her old Home ed teacher and one of the moist disliked people in town. Maddie also finds her problems growing when she finds her not passed out from drinking , but dead.
This us a cute story with lots of description. Its a bit like playing Clue with a romantic twist. I didn’t figure out the killer until about 2/3 into the story and it was pretty obvious then.
I liked Maddie and the other characters a lot. The mystery had enough twists to keep you interesting.
I will be honest and say at first it was a bit slow but once the twists began I got into it
I’ll warn you it’s a cliffhanger I didn’t see coming and now am anxiously awaiting the next book.

If you like sexy detectives, strong female leads, comedy,a good cozy mystery, you will like this.

Two shots of whiskey later, one spiked with coffee, one neat, I’d told Jenna the whole morbid story.
“I get why you’d want to stick it to the asshat,” Jenna said after she’d cursed Joseph McMurphy from here to Iceland, “but this…?”
She swung her arms out, banging the half-empty bottle against the cabinet at her back. “If you wanted to burn his money, you should have splashed out on a round-the-world funfest. Hell, you could have invited me along.”
I laughed. “Sounds like fun, but I didn’t want to burn his money.”
“You could have fooled me,” Jenna said. “This place isn’t a sinking ship, Maddie, it sank years ago and it’s been languishing on the ocean floor ever since.”
“Joe will get his money back. As soon as he discovers what I’ve done, he’ll find another investor to buy out our shares. All I wanted was free board, beverages on the house, a place to sit it out until the divorce goes through while Joe gets a big fat headache.”
I raised my mug to Jenna, cheers, and drained the last few drops of my free beverage. “If he hoped I’d slink quietly into the night, he never knew me at all.”
Jenna wasn’t convinced. “You know what they say about the best laid plans.”
“Nothing was laid.”
“Oh, someone was definitely—” She slapped a hand over her mouth. “Did I just say that? I’m such an idiot.”
I waved her gaff aside. “And there was no devious plan. It was just an idea that popped into my head.”
Jenna still didn’t look convinced, but it was the truth.
After running the full eight blocks home from the theatre, I’d locked myself in the spare room. Right through the night and into the next day. Butt on the carpet, arms hugging my knees, back propped up against the bed, staring dry-eyed and numb-brained at the wall.
The world fell away from me.
Thinking hurt too much.
Nothing made sense.
I’d heard Joe pounding on the door, begging, cursing, threatening to call 911, begging some more, but it all wafted past me like a putrid smell I didn’t dare breathe in.
And then I’d remembered my mom saying something about Mr Hollow and the brokerage firm in Syracuse and I’d had a thought. And it didn’t hurt. It made perfect sense. It gave me focus.
Sure, I’d been dehydrated and malnourished at the time, but look at Moses. He’d gone off into the desert and fasted for forty days and nights for clarity.
“Ladies…”
My head snapped back, eyes turned up.
A smoky grey gaze pierced me, then moved on to Jenna. “Which one of you is Maddox Storm?”
I scrambled to my feet and instantly teetered to the side. I wasn’t a lightweight and I wasn’t drunk, but Jack Daniels before breakfast was breaking new ground for me.
I slammed a palm to the bar counter to steady myself and glared up at smoky eyes.
There was more to the man, of course. Crop of tangled brown hair, chiseled jaw that needed a shave, dark jacket that spanned broad shoulders, immaculate white shirt and blue silk tie, that kind of thing. But I wasn’t in the mood to notice.
“Who’s asking?” I demanded.
“Detective Bishop,” he said curtly. He flashed a badge at me, then returned it to the inside pocket of his jacket. “Auburn Detective Division.”
“Where’s Chief Matthews?”
“Hawaii,” Jenna said, sliding into place beside me. “It’s his granddaughter’s christening next weekend and he decided to combine it with his annual leave.”
The detective cleared his throat. “If you wouldn’t mind answering some questions, Ms Storm? Mr Hollow has turned the library over to us for interviews.”
Jenna’s arm came around me. “I’ll go with you.”
His jaw tightened as he set those smoky greys on her. “Private interviews.”
“That’s not a problem,” Jenna informed him. “Maddie and I don’t keep any secrets from each other.”
“And you are?”
“Jenna,” she said. “Jenna Adams.”
“I’ll have questions for you, Ms Adams, once I’m done with Ms Storm.”
“Or you could just interview us together,” Jenna persisted. “Twice the gain for half the pain.”
Detective Bishop stood back and looked at me again. “If you don’t want to be alone with me, Ms Storm, I can arrange for a uniform to sit in on the interview.”
Heat flared to my cheeks. “I don’t need a chaperone, Detective Bishop.”
His brow arched. “Are you sure?”
“Quite,” I said prissily and slipped free from Jenna’s arm to follow him.

It’s risky business gambling on love . . .

“Kristina Knight gets me hooked- What a great start to a sexy new series!”

“It’s impossible not to fall in love with a story by Kristina Knight. I felt right at home with these characters. Gage and Callie kept me on my toes!” ~USA Today Bestselling Author, Nikki Lynn Barrett

Standing still in an elevator really shouldn’t be this hard. The mirrored doors had swooshed closed about five seconds before. Callie stood beside him, leather attaché slung over her shoulder and hands clasped before her, watching the numbers count down, down, down.

Gage resisted the urge to pull at his tie. But counting down the numbers on the elevator screen wasn’t nearly as interesting as watching Callie.

He’d been watching her, goading her a little, since he’d realized it was her across the table from him and not a stranger. Not that he could call Callie a friend when he hadn’t spoken to her in ten years. She was an acquaintance. That was a good word.

The fact did nothing to temper his response to her. She’d heated up the office. Now she was turning the elevator into a veritable inferno. From the top of her oh-so-blonde head—had her hair always been this shimmery?—to the tips of her oh-so-red toenails, she made him want things.

Drinks on the beach. A quiet dinner by candlelight.

He’d never thought of her this way in the past. She was just Callie. The girl who helped him master calculus, cheered at his football games, and rode her favorite horse beside his lake on hot summer days. The gorgeous woman standing beside him was so different from the buddy he remembered.

The old Callie was smart and tenacious, which made the new Callie a good investment. The old Callie was dedicated to her work—another mark in New Callie’s favor. The biggest mark in her favor, though, was the empty space in his new development. A space that would be perfect for Callie’s business, while also filling a hole in his.

Plus, under the polish of her suit, he could still see his friend. The mistiness of her gaze when she talked about her parents leaving town, the fierce grip when she squeezed her hands together as she made her pitch.

“Have you been to a Rebels game since you got back?” he asked.

Small talk. He hated small talk.

“I’m not much for basketball.”

“It’s actually still football season, but the first preseason basketball games start in a couple of weeks. We should catch a game sometime.”

Shut up, Gage. Just shut up. He didn’t ask business associates out. What the hell was wrong with him?

“Oh.”

“You love football.”

A smile spread across her face. “Mostly I enjoyed the space that cheerleading took up in the ‘extracurricular’ column of my college applications.”

“Oh.” How had he never caught that she wasn’t into sports?

Better question: how had his radar missed Callie, in general, all those years ago?

This is my frist book I have read by Kristina Knight and won’t be my last. I sat up all night Last night reading this book! I fell in love with Gage from the beginning( probably from the cover).
I loved that there is a strong female lead and though Gage is a strict businessman it also showed his character.  He has a fun side and a humanitarian side and a sexy side  as well. Pure perfection! There is a good plot, lots of character growth and some pretty hot sex later on.
The only thing i missed was since it is called Billionaire Cowboys I would have liked a bit more cowboy to it, granted we did get to see Gage on the ranch and in cowboy gear a couple of times.
If you like brothers, billionaires, strong female leads, romance, and some pretty hot sex, I think you will love this book! I can’t wait to see which brother is next!

Once upon a time, Kristina Knight spent her days running from car crash to fire to meetings with local police–no, she wasn’t a troublemaker, she was a journalist. Her career took her all over the United States, writing about everything from a serial killer’s capture to the National Finals Rodeo. Along the way, she found her very own Knight in Shining Cowboy Boots and an abiding love for romance novels. And just like the characters from her favorite books, she’s living her own happily ever after.
Kristina writes sassy contemporary romance novels; her books have appeared on Kindle Best Seller Lists. She loves hearing from readers, so drop her a line!
