If I could go anywhere~~ #MFRWauthor #top5 #bloghopchallenge

Hi Ya’ll! It’s week 17 of the MFRW 52 week blog challenge. This week our topic is the top five places we would like to visit.

Picking five is hard for me because there are so many places I would like to go visit and things to do. I have only been to Mississippi, Wyoming ( I lived in these two for short times many years ago) Arkansas and Tennessee since they are on the border of us and the only places to get to Walmart and Lowes LOL.  Also, Hubby’s family lives in Arkansas. We also went to Iowa to have  Hubby’s dad’s wake a couple years ago. I forgot about Pennsylvania my dad is from there and we visited a couple times as a kid. I still want to go back. I have lots of internet friends there I would like to meet.

When I met the hubby he took me on a vacation to Chicago. That was on top of my list and I had a blast. We also visited St. Louis every anniversary and Branson on our Honeymoon. These were all nice. So in retrospect, I guess I have been to a few more places than I thought. But that leaves a great big world out there that beckons.

I think my first choice would be England. I would like to see the country, the sea, and the castles there.  Castles bring me to Ireland I also would love to go there. and Australia. I love the Accents and Id love to see the land and animals there and maybe meet a couple of my friends I have there as well.

That leaves me two to pick in the US. New York, though I am not sure why I chose such a busy bustling place with my anxieties. I would love to see a Broadway play, visit some of the shops, central gardens and meet a friend or two from there that could tell me more places I need to visit while there.( I would slip across to Pennsylvania where a friend of mine lives  and one of my editors and see them too!)

Now let’s go clear across the country ( stopping in every state in between especially Utah to visit my beta reader and the aquarium and zoo she tells me so much about~~yes I cheated and got in more than five LOL)to California. I chose California because my husband use to drive a truck there and he says I need to see it. I will love the diversity and all the fresh fruits and veggies. I want to see the wine country and the San Francisco bridge even though I may not cross it ( I have a fear of big bridges and water.)I also want to see the coast and Ocean. I have never been. Funny I want to see all this water and have such a fear right?

For a recap. My top five places I want to visit are~ England~Ireland~Australia~New York and California.

What are our top five places you want to visit?

Now let’s go see what the other MFRW chose as their top five!

Name that book in~One Line #MFRWauthor #amwriting #booktitles #FF

Welcome to week 8 of the MFRWauthors  blog challenge. This week’s prompt is How  I Choose a Book Title. It isn’t as easy as it sounds and it’s another of those things each author has their unique way. Sometimes my title comes to me and generates the story other times they elude me. Like Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats.  I do love this title, and it has shaped the story. But the story has grown some, and I am not one hundred percent sure this will stay the book’s title. Also, It has generated the idea for at least one Spinoff a MM romance I simply call Simon Plus Two, since I do not have a title.  I also have a sequel or another spinoff, so I am considering using BaseBall Bats and Cowboy Hats as the Series Title instead of a book title.

A book is like a child to an author. We give birth to the characters, creating them watching them grow, then suddenly it’s time to let them grow and get out into the world spreading happiness and love to our readers. But our readers won’t take our babies into their homes if their names aren’t catchy enough to grab attention.  As a reader, I am very picky about titles. I find I do tend to pick up titles with nothing but Names especially if in a series. Especially if that name is above a hot cowboy, military man or firefighter. I digress.

How do I come up with a title? Sometimes it is a song that stirs me, a name that gives me a character inspiration, or as in my most recent case a commercial. I am so excited about this one.  I have a folder full of ideas. Half have titles the other only working titles such as James and Logan ( a MM contemporary) and Ninety Days a working title. Once I finish the stories, I hope a title will emerge from the sea of words and I will scoop it up with my writers net and give it a home.

What kind of title do you like? Do you like one-word titles? Names only? Do you like the title to be in the story at least once if not a few times?

Let’s go see how the other come up with their titles!

Let the Music Play~ Cathy Writes Romance #MFRWauthor #music

Welcome to the MFRWauthor blog challenge week 7. This week our topic is  Music we write by. I wonder if I can count the flow of my fish tank, the hum of the refrigerator and the occasional cars that drive by. Maybe even all the kids screaming and dogs barking in the afternoon?

I don’t have any set music I listen to as I write. As a matter of fact, I do better with it quiet (except for the above). On occasion, I may turn on Pandora or YouTube but most likely for research for songs my characters may listen to. I do sometimes have a playlist for each story but rarely do I listen while I write. Not the first draft anyhow. I need to concentrate. Sometimes I do play my playlist when I do my rewrite or edits to help get in the mood of the story, so each story will have me listening to different music.

I am an 80’s rock girl, so that is what I listen to a lot. My daughter had me hooked o other things like Evanescence, Nirvana, Disturbed, so I  have a list of songs she hooked me up on as well. I guess you could say I am diversified. Here are some of my favorites.

I use to listen to music a lot while I blogged or did household chores now  I listen to audiobooks instead.

What kind of music do you like?

Now let’s go see what the other MFRWauthors like to listen to!

Thats’s Not Trash!~Thats Crafts! #MFRWauthor #hobbies #crafts

Welcome to week 6 of the 52-week MFRW blog challenge.  Each week we have a topic.

This week’s prompt is…My hobby is … When I’m not writing.

I nearly shouted in joy when I saw this topic! Hobbies? Boy, do I have hobbies!* Looks int the nearly bursting craft room.*

I  am not a hoarder.. nope I’m  sticking to it… I am a recycler and crafter. I see beauty in all things trash… well not all things but most. I use to throw it all in trash bags in a closet in my hall until I had the perfect project or time to make something with it.  Of course, then I could never find what I was looking for.

When we remodeled, a craft room was on my wish list. My husband took the old back porch we never used, enlarged it and made me a combo craft/ exercise room.  He also made me the perfect work table as well.  The table is big enough for my sewing machine, serger and cameo to sit out all the time and still have room to work. It is also big enough to cut out fabric on.

I use the kitty litter in the big yellow buckets leaving me buckets I can’t seem to toss as well.  When I had to unpack that closet, we tore out for the remodel I came up with a way to reduce my hoarding and organize as well. It also uses up those buckets. ( I knew they would come in handy and save me money on tubs!) I marked each one with the items I collect such as plastic creamer bottles, Jars, you get the Idea. When each bucket is stuffed full, I can’t keep more of that item until I use some out of the bucket. The buckets stack neatly behind my exercise equipment.

I also have my craft supplies. I have those plastic drawers I keep those in.

Sewing and Crochet are my favorite hobbies. I collect dolls of all sorts and like to sew for them,  I am starting a craft page and website to sell my goodies on in the next couple of months.

I can’t throw away old clothes since I see projects. I have tubs of jeans, t-shirts, assorted sweaters. Same rules apply. These tubs get full I have to let go the others. I have plenty things planned. I have a set of placements cut out already.

I have tons of fabric as well and yarn.  I finally got that all sorted and organized as well.

So as you see I have lots of hobbies besides writing.  Do you have any hobbies?

Don’t forget this is a blog hop. Anyone can join at any point in the MFRW 52 week challenge…  Click here.

Let’s go check out the other authors and see what their hobbies are!

Through Thick & Thin #MFRWauthor #meetmybestfriend #Friday #Queen

It’s week 5 of the 52-week MFRW blogging challenge. It’s never too late you can always join in the fun. Learn more and join at MFRW.

Wow! Has it been 5 weeks already? I have to say I am really having fun with this and making new friends. speaking of friends this weeks topic is Meet My Best Friend. It is both hard and easy.  There were so many ways this could go, from writing software, books, kitchen appliances, pets and people. I always talk about my furbabies so I thought I would take a different route.

I watch my granddaughter struggle with friendships. She is at that age as a teen where friend some day enemies the next, then friends again.  I remember back when I was in high school. I was a recluse even then.   I had figured out quickly that I didn’t fit in with my friends from junior high. Some had moved, some joined sororities, some we remained acquaintances. I didn’t care for sports I would rather sit in the library or under a tree with a book. ( yes even back then I was a reading fanatic) I do wonder sometimes where some of those friends have gone. A few I have reconnected on Facebook, though we rarely chat. I tell my granddaughter to not get too upset when she gets older she will make more stable relationships.

I now have one friend that we seem to have weathered thick and thin, even though she still lives 2 hours away. We talk several ties a week if not nearly every day. We have been friends now almost 20 years. It doesn’t seem that way.  She has watched my children grow from teens ( there is at least a 10 years age difference in us) and I have watched hers from babies to now in college. Her son will graduate this year and daughter next. Danniel was with my daughter and me when she had her baby. She took off and sat up all night with us. I came and spent time with her and her daughter when her daughter had a tonsillectomy and again when she had surgery.  Danniel is more like a sister than a friend.

I also have a little group of on-line friends that we meet every morning chat a bit and write a while. We support each other for writing, and whatever ails us. Without these four ladies, I don’t know what I would do. I sure wouldn’t be writing. I hope some day to meet these women. That mean so much to me.

This song always pulls my heart-strings. I dedicate this song to you Danniel and my  Chatty Chicks You to my loyal follower Flossie!.

Do you have a friend that is your lifeline? Do you think an online friendship can be considered a best friend? ( I do)

This is a blog hop. Check out all the other authors to see who their best friends are. I can’t wait to check them out! remember to comment, tweet and share if you like the posts!
