Thats’s Not Trash!~Thats Crafts! #MFRWauthor #hobbies #crafts

Welcome to week 6 of the 52-week MFRW blog challenge.  Each week we have a topic.

This week’s prompt is…My hobby is … When I’m not writing.

I nearly shouted in joy when I saw this topic! Hobbies? Boy, do I have hobbies!* Looks int the nearly bursting craft room.*

I  am not a hoarder.. nope I’m  sticking to it… I am a recycler and crafter. I see beauty in all things trash… well not all things but most. I use to throw it all in trash bags in a closet in my hall until I had the perfect project or time to make something with it.  Of course, then I could never find what I was looking for.

When we remodeled, a craft room was on my wish list. My husband took the old back porch we never used, enlarged it and made me a combo craft/ exercise room.  He also made me the perfect work table as well.  The table is big enough for my sewing machine, serger and cameo to sit out all the time and still have room to work. It is also big enough to cut out fabric on.

I use the kitty litter in the big yellow buckets leaving me buckets I can’t seem to toss as well.  When I had to unpack that closet, we tore out for the remodel I came up with a way to reduce my hoarding and organize as well. It also uses up those buckets. ( I knew they would come in handy and save me money on tubs!) I marked each one with the items I collect such as plastic creamer bottles, Jars, you get the Idea. When each bucket is stuffed full, I can’t keep more of that item until I use some out of the bucket. The buckets stack neatly behind my exercise equipment.

I also have my craft supplies. I have those plastic drawers I keep those in.

Sewing and Crochet are my favorite hobbies. I collect dolls of all sorts and like to sew for them,  I am starting a craft page and website to sell my goodies on in the next couple of months.

I can’t throw away old clothes since I see projects. I have tubs of jeans, t-shirts, assorted sweaters. Same rules apply. These tubs get full I have to let go the others. I have plenty things planned. I have a set of placements cut out already.

I have tons of fabric as well and yarn.  I finally got that all sorted and organized as well.

So as you see I have lots of hobbies besides writing.  Do you have any hobbies?

Don’t forget this is a blog hop. Anyone can join at any point in the MFRW 52 week challenge…  Click here.

Let’s go check out the other authors and see what their hobbies are!

Writerly Wednesday~Schedules#timekeepers #writingtools #amwriting

Last week I made my decision on the project I was going to begin. I also knew I needed to work on the timeline first. My beta agreed to be my timekeeper and push me towards my goals. I agreed on two weeks to work on the timeline then to begin the rewrite that would be my last before she got it. I decided to get it to her by April. Man do I have the work to do.

My homework for yesterday was to have her my tentative schedule and daily plans by today. I kept it simple. 30 minutes to wake up, get my first cup of coffee in me, and sort my emails tending to anything pressing. after that writing first. at least two hours and no less than 2 chapters a day. I am reading through, making notes and especially checking for timeline issues.

Monday was a bust. I got up an hour late feeling awful. My allergies are doing me in. Hubby got up working on budgets and kept calling me in. then we had the budget meeting and I had to sort some medications and make Dr. appointments for us. When I got back online I was told my Tuesday blog had posted, so I went to see why. While there I decided to work on my Wednesday blog. I decided to make a header. That header led to 6 more. ( hey in my defense now I have all my blog headers done for my blogging.) I was showing her the shinies and she asked me if she was supposed to support me in all things writing, she did understand the importance or push the story first. I said story first.  She was a doll yet politely pointed out in the time I had made the pretties I could have done my chapter work.  She was right. I did have these on the schedule for the weekend on my blog work days but I was off schedule.

Being an amazing drill sergeant she had me drop and do that chapter I owed he, LOL

Now back to the subject of Schedules.  They are awesome tools if you use them.  But what is the point of having everything lined up then jumping around like a frog on a hot sidewalk.  I use to have a very detailed calendar and write things down by the half hour. it was so overwhelming and upset me so much if I couldn’t do it that it did more harm than good. I found that less is more.

I put the three most important things.. 2 chapters, reviews/blog, email/ social media Instead of giving them timeframes I  simply write that. I have about 6 hours I dedicate to my computer/ writing. I will do my two chapters ( and any makeup if needed), then down the line.  I drew a line under those three and put Housework/craft. This is not daily chores as I work those in the morning. I can only sit about 30 minutes to an hour then need to move. I have chronic back injury.  So I work my first sprint with my girls, get up and sweep or do a small chore, rinse and repeat. The afternoon house is decluttering I am trying to do I have a list of chores I would like to get done this year, so i will tackle in small bites. I think I will alternate. Do a chore one day some crafting the next. This way neither will be so overwhelming to me.

I also switched to one schedule. last year I had it on my computer on a large desk calendar and in a day planner. The only one I really used was the day planner so I eliminated the other two this year.  This week is my first on my new scheduling and I will keep you up to date if this works. Scheduling is a personal thing for everyone. What works for me won’t work for everyone.  Do you have a tried and true schedule that works for you? Do you use a calendar or computer or a fancy Bullet journal?

Writerly Wednesday–New year~~new look!

Hi y’all! I hope you had a good January. I know the weather has been odd. we have had early spring like days, no snow but lots of rain. Some of my friends have had lots of snow, unfortunately giving it to me hasn’t worked yet. I spent January recovering from a bit of a nervous issue, colds and still have bad allergies headaches. I took the time to try to organize my computer documents, clean house a bit on facebook and Goodreads and also here. I didi accomplish organizing my craft room.

I still haven’t figured out my blogging schedule for sure, for now, I will have a Sunday or Monday picture post, Teaser  Tuesday and the MFRWauthors challenge on Friday. I may squeeze in a review or Writerly Wednesday here and there or bring them back if it fits into my writing schedule.

I decided to work on Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats as my project and am hoping for a late April early may release so cross your fingers and push me along!

Now for the real reason for this post! I bought a new banner finally for the Website!  Don’t you love it?  I used Rêverie Design & FormattingBreathing Life into Daydreams.

This was our first-time working together and I had no idea whatsoever that I wanted. We chatted a bit about color dos and don’ts, about my genres and I let her go.

This is what we got on our second go round.

Funniest thing ever is purple is ok but not on my favorite color list and I absolutely love it.  The first ones she sent did not fit, so she tried twice more to get the sizes I needed.  She told me she experimented with red since it was a favorite but it didn’t look as good as the purple and though I didn’t like blue tried it too.  She showed them to me and i hate to admit i liked the blue as well. she gave me all three. Isn’t that awesome?

That’s magical that she made me love Blue and purple lol!

She told me of all of her specials and I bought a banner for a craft website I hope to debut this month as well and some formatting packages to use as an incentive to get those books ready LOL. I hope to be buying my cover next month or early April and will be using Amber as well. At least I hope she takes me as a client lol!

I’ll be putting a new logo on my Facebook page this week. It should be ready by Friday.

She did come highly recomended and I had seen some of her logos and covers  that my friend V. L.Locey uses.

You can contact her at

As a matter of fact V.L. Locey has a cover reveal today that Rêverie made.
This is one of my favorite trilogies and if you love unlikeable, rough and tumble main characters you will love, wise-cracking,  potty mouth Vic.

#awriter’slife ~Home~~Furbabies New home

Hi Y’all as you see I decided to bring back Serenity Sunday.  The week of Christmas Bella gave us a gift. We had a baby Guinea pig. I called it Squeaky since it squeaks all the time. LOL. Guinea pigs reproduce fast and it was time to separate them.  Papa decided we needed a larger cage for his babies. It was meant for Bella and Squeaky as we thought Squeaky was a she, but… Now we think we are wrong so  Fred is on with Squeaky.

Chloë kept a good  eye on Fred while  we moved them around

The Condo is ready

we are going to get another of the larger cages soon

Bella                                                   Fred                                                  Squeaky

It looks like  I may be introducing you to some new additions in March then being separated hopefully that’s it.

Do you like the photos on Sunday or did you prefer Monday?
