Snippet Sunday

Snippet Sunday

Hi, Ya’ll! Welcome to the first Snippet Sunday of the New Year. Sadly I don’t have a snippet to share this week. It’s one of those out like a lion things and this past week hit us with a vengeance.  I didn’t get much writing done this week. I worried with trying to come up with a new writing goal until I nearly cried. Finally, when I gave up a friend of mine and I was talking about the what’s next phase of Nano. We had been excited to find it was t like Nano at all. I don’t do forums and wanted something more personal and day to day. We decided to edit a chapter a day. I decided to keep with the writing and also do at least a chapter a day These are goals. If I am on a roll, i can always do more. I am hoping by keeping it small it is more attainable and by writing and editing, I’ll always have a book in the fire and more chances of finishing and publishing one this year.

Which brings me to the next dilemma. Did I want to pub or sub? I am still out on that. I have found two new publishers that look interesting that Both Dark Magick and Love Bites would fit.  I have not ruled out self-publishing at all. My decision was until I had a book completely through my self-editing and beta process not to worry about it. That gives me, at least, two months to figure that out.

I am also rethinking my blog temporarily to give me more time to write, work on my house, enjoy a hobby and exercise. I have made the decision to cut back to 4 times a week.  Untill March I will be doing Sunday Monday Tuesday and Friday. If u don’t change it, I will eventually have it Sunday Monday Wednesday and Friday.

This is what my goals look like at this point.

Writing: I am pulling out a book I started at the end of 2014. I will l simply call it Rose as a working title.

Editing: I am cleaning up and having My Nano story Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats ready to beta read.

I will do this Monday through Friday and Sat is my blog scheduling and planning day. Sunday will be plotting on my series such as Dark Magick and Love Bites. This way I should be able to focus on the task at hand and not be so overwhelmed.

I should be back next week with a Snippet from Rose. I can’t share any more Baseball Bats without spoilers.

If you’re in the mood for a sexy snippet skate on over to my friend Vicki’s blog( I love her catch-phrase) and see what she has for us. I don’t now what it is this week …but I can promise it will be good. Her stuff always is. V.L. Locey

Snippet Sunday~ Why did the chicken cross the road?

Snippet Sunday

Hi, Ya’ll. It’s time for more snippets! Today I decided to give TJ’s view of last weeks snippet. If you missed it and wanted to see what happened to Annie, you can catch it here…Not One but Two Broken Hearts.

Remember this is very raw, being a first draft.

Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats (Copywrite 2015)

I didn’t think this day could get any worse. Simon left practice early and brought me home. He assured me everything would work out. I walked into the house to talk to Annie and the day just got worse. There she sat nearly nose to nose with Caleb holding an engagement ring.
Perhaps I should take the offer to go to Indiana. At least, I wouldn’t have to see her with Caleb. I should have know he would win her over eventually. They have been friends forever and shared a lot of history. He is also closer to her age. I look for Simon in his room but can’t find him. I see his keys on the bed, so I grab them and head back out. My eyes burn as I sped out of the driveway.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Caleb weren’t behind all of this. It is not common for a college to recruit anyone in their senior year. It is also very convenient that the homeless center rescinded their offer of a job and me coaching the boys as well. My having an Uncle that was selling drugs and a cartel and me getting past that life and making a new one should have been an incentive to help me, not hinder me with that job.
In my rear view mirror, I see Caleb’s car catching up to me. Don’t need him gloating on top of all that has happened today so I speed up.
Suddenly a damn chicken decides to cross the road. I swerve to miss it winding up in a wet ditch. The more I spin my wheels, the more stuck I get. Simon will kill me.
“TJ! Are you ok?” Annie yells, running down the ditch.
I can’t fathom why she would be chasing after me. She grabs me pulling me close. Her hands run over my arms, and then she grabs my face kissing me harshly. Next thing I know I feel a sharp on the side of my face.
‘What the hell were you thinking! You could have killed yourself.”
“What would it matter to you?” Harsh? Yes, but my heart was bleeding.
“I’ve had the day from hell. Go back to your fiance. I will be leaving for Indiana soon, and you can move on with your life.” Now my mouth seems to have developed diarrhea.
“What are you talking about TJ? Indiana?”
“Yes. Ask your Fiance! He probably set up the whole thing to get me as far away as he could. Congratulations it worked!”
I turn away not wanting her to see me cry. No matter how macho we may think we are. Sometimes feelings seep out.
“TJ honey. Come home let’s talk about this? You haven’t signed anything yet?”
“No, the damn chicken stopped me!”
“Chicken? How many painkillers have you taken?”

I hope you enjoyed this clip. I am having a lot of fun with this story, but it is soon over. That is a good thing though. That makes it closer to time for you to get to read it.  I am not sure what next week holds. I f I will be pitching a new story idea or one last snippet of Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats.

Snippet Sunday ~~not one but two broken hearts

Snippet Sunday

It’s time again for  Snippet Sunday. The story is nearly complete. I can’t believe it! There have been a few twists. This will be the last snippet from the story but I think next week I may give you a taste of the epilogue.

Here is this week’s snippet. Annie has to spring some news on her best friend, Caleb. Let’s see how he takes it.

Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats (copyright 2015)

“Hey, Caleb. Would you like some lemonade or tea?”
“From the look on your face, I think a shot of bourbon,” He said as he stood back, a forlorn look on his face.
I don’t think I can go through with this. I fix him a glass of tea and sit it on the table.
“ Have a seat why don’t ya?”
“I moved TJ into my room last night.” I went for the ripping off the bandage technique.
“So what does that mean? Is he not going to school?  Is he going to help you run the farm? Are ou moving off with him and selling out?”
I sit dumbfounded. I hadn’t thought any of that over.
“Do you love him? I mean truly love him?”
I can answer that one. “I do love him. I think I need more time and ur love will blossom more as the days go by. I care for him very much.”
“I didn’t want to spring this on you yet, but now you have pushed my hand. Caleb after she drops her news
The ranch is losing too much money. I’ve been covering the deficits. HI love you, Annie. I have loved you since the first day I saw you at school. I watched you marry my best friend because I saw how much you loved him. I wanted those looks for myself. After he had died I did all I could for you and the boys as if you were mine. I always thought someday you would come to me, confess your love.
I didn’t know what to think. I knew he cared for me. Eve loved me. But this. I couldn’t stop the tears from trickling down my cheek. I never wanted to hurt him. I also didn’t know how close I am to losing the ranch.
“You don’t have to lose the farm, Annie. I know how much it means to you. I can even forgive this fling with TJ.”
He reaches into his pocket and brings out a pretty wooden box. He presses it into my hand. Out of reflex, I open it. The ring is beautiful. It has one large chocolate diamond set in the center with Caleb and Steve’s birthstone on one side in a heart and David and Stephens on the other. I can bet the are real stones as well. I ts beautiful
I sat staring at the ring, trying to digest what Caleb had said. I didn’t hear the door open.
I hear a sharp intake of breath and footsteps running up the stairs.

What do you think? Exciting? Sad? Crap?

My friend Vicki is posting some amazing Snippets so Skate on over there and see what she has going this week! I’ll be right there with ya! Vicki Locey

Snippet Sunday

Snippet Sunday Hi, Y’all! Are ya ready for another snippet? I am still working on Baseball Bats and Cowboy hats. It is exceeding the 50k mark. I had a twist pop up that adds a lot of drama and brings us into TJ’s past. I have skipped down, and this is Chapter 20. In TJ’s view.

Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats ( Copywrite 2015)

“Sorry coach. Annie isn’t answering her phone. I have a strange feeling in my stomach something is wrong.”

“I am sure everything is ok. I need you in your right mind. I will give Caleb a call while you guys warm up. He can try to get hold of her, and when he does, I will let you know.”

“Thanks, Coach.” He is a good man. I am lucky to have him as a coach. And friend.

“Ok guys.  We are past mid-season. We started out full force then you all got a little too self-assured and cocky. Once we had a loss, you all got too defeated. This is a game, but it’s also some of your futures.  We need to get out there and show these guys we are a force to be reckoned with. Simon you have been on fire until a week or so ago. Whatever is bothering you talk to me or work it out? Tonight I want to see that old Simon. The one that shocks everyone that is watching.  TJ you need to get your head out of the clouds and remember this is a team. All of you. If you are not playing for your own futures, paly for the team. Now let’s pray.”

We all form our circle placing our hands on top of each others on a bat. The coach says a quick prayer.

“Ok, guys warm up. TJ I will make that call.”

I watch Coach Rick make his call. It is too quick for my liking. His phone must have rung almost immediately. He answers, nods his head slips it back in his pocket.

The game starts. I can’t focus. Finally, it’s our bat. I notice the coach is avoiding me. That can’t be good.

In the bullpen, Simon corners me.

“Hey what is up with you. I’ve never seen you drop the ball so much.”

“Annie didn’t answer her phone  when I called.”

“Maybe she left it in the kitchen or she was on the road driving back from Vicki’s.”

“Possible. She has never missed calling me or answering my call before a game. I feel like something isn’t right.

Music starts up signaling we are up. I notice coach on the phone again, and then hurriedly grabbing his assistant coach, Harrison Johnson.

“Hey TJ. I need to you come with me to the locker room, please.” The look on his face confirms my suspicions.  Something bad has happened.

Well, what do you think? Does it make you want more?

Snippet Sunday~~#Winner Winner!

Snippet Sunday

Hi, Ya’ll. Can you believe it’s December?  Good news. Despite the crazy month last month.  I am a Winner!

NaNo-2015-Winner-Badge-Large-Square

I  made my NaNoWriMo count, but its was a race to the finish line.  Even better news is I am not quite finished with the story. I think I need at least four more chapters and maybe an epilogue since other characters deserve a story.

Writing sex scenes are out of my comfort zone. My Paranormals are about a two-flame story. I amped this up to four though during edits I may damper the heat some. This week I decided to share one of them with you. Annie has decided to take the next step with TJ and see where the relationship goes. They go out on a special date that began with her watching him coach his little league team of boys from the homeless shelter. She sees what a wonderful man he is despite his young age.( If you missed that scene I posted part of it last week. It is hilarious and one of my favorite from the book.)

Baseball Bats and Cowboy Hats (Copyright 2015)

We barely get in the door when I find myself trapped between the wall and a hard body. He ascends on my mouth our tongues tangoing I try to push him away so we can head to the bed, but my arms are pinned to my side.  He edges one knee between my legs parting them slightly putting us at an angle where his length is rubbing against my hip.

He breaks contact heaving. “Oh hell, I am about to—well-” his olive skin is flushed, lips thick and puffy, brown eyes as dark as coffee. I take this opportunity to take back control and ease him back to the bed, pushing him to the edge.

“You ready to unwrap your present?” I slid his hands to my back. It takes him a moment, but he finally finds the small zipper that keeps the girls trapped in. He slowly tugs it down; eyes trailed to my breasts.  He slowly glides the straps off. He sucks in a deep breath as the white silky demi-bra barely conceals the girls is exposed.

“Holy hell. You are so beautiful” he buries his face in my cleavage. I feel warmth even through the thin fabric as he sucks my nipple through the material. He has a cloth fetish I think. First keeping my panties that first night, now laving over my new bra.  Suddenly I find myself tossed over on the bed with a sweltering TJ over me. He tugs off the dress takes and places it on the chair by the window. He stands to stare at me. I feel a little self-conscious as he begins caressing me with hands and tongue.

“Hey aren’t you a little over-dressed. I want to get my hands on some skin too.”

“I have a little problem.”

“It’s not as little as you think it is.”

I hope you enjoyed this snippet. I would love your thoughts on the sex scene. Is it too explicit? Not enough? What would you like to see more or less of?

If you would like to read more of BaseBall Bats and Cowboy Hats and missed the first three snippets ”
