Let’s go to the Movies #MFRWauthor #blogchallenge #romance

Hi, Y’all welcome back to the MFRW 52 week blog challenge. This is week 20. I can’t believe I have hung in there for 20 weeks!  This week’s topic is My Favorite Movies inspired by books. This should be easy right? Nope. I don’t  watch that many movies. I will admit I was a Twilight fan when it came out and saw all of them. Sorry, but the book was so much better. But yeah!  The young girl in me enjoys a sparkling vampire and sexy shirtless werewolves now and then so shoot me!

I guess my favorite would be  The Divergent Series. Divergent,  Insurgent and Allegiant I really liked this series but I have to admit I haven’t read the books.

I also loved the Hunger Games again I haven’t read those books but I do have them on e-book. It’s funny some of my friends in my writing chat group call me Katness LOL.

Now to a different Genre. The Help was really good. both in book and movie, I think I preferred the movie.

The Lovely Bones was a chilling movie. It broke my heart and no way would I read the book after that since I know books usually have more detail.

So it seems I have a pattern. If I read the books I prefer the book and will watch the move but once I watch the movie I usually don’t go back and read the books.

Except for Nicholas Sparks. I am a fan of both the books and movies I Adored the Notebook. It’s one of my favorite books and movies. I don’t think you can go wrong with a Nicholas Sparks book or movie.

What are some of your favorite Movies inspired by Books? Do you prefer the movies or the books?

I’m curious to see what the other bloggers watch, come go check them out with me!

Is the rain or like me, allergies keeping you indoors? Are you looking for a hot new book to read?  Well, here ya go!  A hot new release by TM Smith

Love – Loss – Friendship – Family
The All Cocks stories

There comes a time in every man’s life where he has to make a choice between what is right and what is easy.

Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas by open-minded parents, Dean Anderson realized early in life he was attracted to both sexes. Equal opportunity, he picked his lovers based on personality and common interests. He met Maggie in college, fell in love, got married and started a family. And they were happy…until they weren’t.

Adam Chase’s mother is South African, his father American military working at the US Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents’ positions in the South African and American governments awarded Adam dual citizenship, and he attended University in America, at Berkley. In America, Adam is lives openly as a gay man, something that could get him killed in his mother’s home country. He met his husband, Patrick Carter, at college and they too were happy…until Patrick died.

Two lives converge, and it would seem fate is giving them each a second chance at happiness, together. Dean stays in New York and moves into the apartment his son, Dusty, shares with his boyfriend David. He and Adam are quickly welcomed into All Cocks’ vastly growing family. And then one phone call changes everything.

The men of All Cocks learn that death is just another part of life, a road everyone travels eventually. Choices are made, decisions that change their lives irrevocably. They rally together, drawing strength from each other as their close-knit family experiences the best and worst life has to offer. But that’s what families do, right?

What others are saying about Choices and Changes…
The chemistry between them was immediate and often entertaining. Dialogue and interaction was strong and suitable for the given situations. The plot was dynamic and had several secondary things happening in the background. There is a tragic twist, so be prepared if you are a more sensitive reader and/or crier. Some new characters were added on top of the entire All Cocks cast. There were a few conflicts that were managed maturely and in a timely manner. Predictability was low. The conclusion was solid and satisfying. Adam and Dean are given their HEA and many others also find additional happiness.
Tina from Happily Ever Chapter

This series continues and we get to see everyone from the past as don’t forget they are a Family. I love this family!

Bring on the popcorn~Let’s watch TV! #MFRWauthor #bingewatching

Welcome to  #MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge. This is week 3, and our prompt is TV shows I binge on. I am not a big TV watcher. I would rather have a book in my hands or a headset on with my newest audible.

In the evenings My hubby and I set aside some time to watch tv together whether it be a movie or a show. This fall we were watching  Designated Survivor.  Kieffer Sutherland still has it! It was pretty good for an action show.

He likes documentaries so Christmas we binged on The Search for Jesus.  New Years he binged on Conspiracy Files on the BBC.

I did marathon watch  Pretty Little Liars with my granddaughter this summer, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t look for her to come over so we could get to the next issue ( I’m not allowed to mess up the schedule, so I have to wait for her)

My Hubby and I found a good series that had one season called Glitch and we binged that. I t is supposed to come back later this year.  As you can see, he is the TV controller in our family I just watch or crochet while he does.

I would like to get in on the hype of Sherlock and Torchwood before its taken off Net Flix. My Granddaughter says I need to watch One Tree Hill.

My trouble with binge watching is I don’t like to sit that long watching TV so one or two episodes at a time are about all I can do.

My binge watching is basically the Food Channel or Cooking Channel or if I can find a missed Top Chef, Masterchef or Project Runway.

What are your favorite shows? Anything you binge watch?

Check out the other blogs for more inspirational posts.

Books

Painted on My Heart is on my favorites for 2017, and Kellus and Arik on my favorite couples list.

I loved all the characters and the plot of the story.  Painted On my Heart also deals with HIV.

Service with a Smirk by Ariel Tachna  Dreamspinner Press

200 pages contemporary

4 meows 2 purrs

I like this book on many levels. First of all The May.December (older man?Younger man) trope is one of my all time favorites.  I also love broken men and Pascal is so sad. I rooted for him to find love again. I liked that they did not rush into anything and that each man at one time or other tried to move the relationship on. I also liked that Mathias, even though he was small and twinkish was unyielding, probably the stronger of the two. And the kicker was the writer ladies that were friends of Pascals.  Not to forget I love picturesque settings, and this is in Canada with a very French feeling.

PatchWork Paradise Indra Vaughn Craig  Beck Riptide Publishing Audible

5 Meows 2 purrs

M/M Contemporary

Patchwork Paradise is such a sad but sweet story.  I cried so much, not all sad. There is twist after twist all the way to the end. It is definitely not predictable! I loved when Oliver changed Thomas baby first diaper. I loved Craig’s cooing voice when he did all the baby talk.

or the first sex scene with Thomas and Oliver. It was all really hot…then the baby cried. I loved it when Oliver told Thomas to go get the baby, he was going to get ice packs for his blue balls.

Movie

We watched Deep Water Horizon this week.

4 Meows

It was Ok. There was a lot of action and seeing something based on reality was interesting. Mark Wahlberg starring in it didn’t hurt LOL

I hope you enjoyed my week in review. I hope you find some good books to read an audio or movie. If you had a favorite this week, you would like to share a post in comments. I am always looking for good entertainment! See ya Next week!

Books

Love’s Tethered Heart by C. L. Etta  Dreamspinner Press

 M/M contemporary  5 Meows  1 Purr

This is a bittersweet story. It is about a man (Mico) that barely survived a gay bashing. He is hooked up to a ventilator, feeding tube and catheter. It is also a story of a family sticking together and caring for the man instead of putting him in a skilled care facility.  Danny is a journalist that finds love in a very unlikely place.

I gave it one purr because though it’s not sexual there is a very sensual scene.

I applaud for dealing with such a sensitive story and making it so beautiful and romantic. Though someone is disabled, they are still very human and have needs. BRAVO!

A Coal Miner’s son T A Chase Published by Dreamspinner Press

M/M Contemporary

4 Meows.

T A Chase s one of my auto-buy authors. I love the realistic characters.

In A Coal Miner’s son, James is a wealthy coal mine owner and Cai is a mine worker.  It’s an awesome, rich/ man poor man story.

My  Goodreads  review

Block and Strike  Kelly Jensen  Published by Dreamspinner Press  M/M Contemporary

 4 meows  2 Purrs

I have only read a couple Kelly Jensen books, but she is heading right up there on my auto-buy too.  This story does have some violence and is very angsty , But I absolutely loved it.

Max is found on Jake’s doorway beaten almost to death. Jake takes him to the hospital. Jake has his secrets as well.  Block and strike is a lovely story of coming out, life and learning to trust and love.

The Applicant by Aidee Ladner Dreamspinner Press

MM Time Travel, Sci-FI

 3 Meows  2 Purrs

This one is a short story about time travel. Not usually my cup of tea but it was cute. There is a robot bear that makes it all worth reading. It is a setup  I think for a series and I am intrigued.

Audio

Smoke and Mirrors by Charlie Cochet  Thirds book 7  narrated by Mark Westfield  10 hrs  42 minutes Audible

M/M, Genres Mystery/Suspense / Science Fiction / Urban Fantasy / Werewolves/Shapeshifters

This is book 7 of the series and the best yet. That’s saying a lot as each book was fantastic. If you’re looking for an excellent series whether to read or listen to I highly recommend this.

Smoke and Mirrors does start where the last story ended with Dex being kidnapped and tortured. There are many emotional moments in this story. I laughed and cried more in this than the others and again that’s saying a lot. There are many shocking twists, several tear-jerking moments, of course, lots fo hot man-sex and wow what an ending.

You can read my full review at

Since the series is awesome and you do need to read in order,  you can buy the complete series

Waiting for the Flood  Alexis Hall Narrated by Alexander Doddy  2 hrs 49 minutes Riptide Publishing. Audible

MM Standalone (Spires Universe) contemporary (kisses and touches no sex)  104 pages

Waiting for the flood is very poetic, and a short sweet romance. The narration made the book in my opinion. I could listen to Alexander Doddy all day.

Redesigning Max Pat Henshaw Narrated by David Ross Dreamspinner Press Audible

Freddy is an award-winning designer. He is surprised when Max a sexy, lumberjack type guy hires him to design his cabin in the woods. Max finds Freddy intriguing and they become friends and lovers.

My Goodreads Review

The BlueBerry Boys by Vanessa North Tobias Silversmith Riptide Publishing Audible

4 story 4 performance 4 overall

M/M Contemporary

Blueberry Boys is a short and sweet romance. It is about a country boy who is closeted and an out and proud city boy.

There is a scene with the sweetest love letter from Conner to Jed that brought tears to my eyes.

TV

Friday night (Dec 30) we watched Vikings. All his Angels.  Originally aired 12/28.

I hate to give such a violent story 5 meows, but I have to.  What Radnor’s courage and strength to all the kings did to him was astounding. I think this was probably aired originally earlier in the week we DVR tv shows a lot to get out of the commercials.

Movies TV

 Traded

4 Meows

This was a western. It was splendid but very violent. A cowboy’s son died from a snakebite and him nd his wife got into a fight causing the 17-year-old daughter to run away. She is kidnapped and sold into prostitution. The father goes to hell and back to rescue her.  Kris Kristofferson had a small part. It also stars Trace Adkins and Michael Pare
