Come walk with me. #MFRWauthor #beautifulplaces #garden #blog

Wonder why I led with this? Other than it being my Grandmother and mother’s favorite song and it brings beautiful memories.  Our topic this week is the Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Been.

Since I haven’t been a lot of places I chose the one thing we look for when we vacation and that is a botanical garden. My husband got me hooked on them when we took our first vacation together. It  was to Chicago. I never had been so he thought it would be nice for me. We went to museums which I loved, The Zoo. The aquarium and Pier, but of all the places we went there my favorite was the Botanical garden. We walked for hours, sat and watched the birds and butterflies. It was summer and there were lots of flowers blooming. My favorite was the rose gardens.

Another great vacation was St Louis. We saw the arch, Zoo, museums, but again my favorite was the Botanical gardens. One year it featured statues by an artist, the next was some glass features. We walked in and it took my breath away. I choked up with tears of excitement. my hubby still teases me for crying when we walked in. All of this glass hanging around like spheres or sitting around was gorgeous. We always would splurge and eat at the cafe. I would get a garden fresh sandwich made on fresh baked bread and veggies grown there, like squash, mushrooms and eggplant. It was delicious.  It looks like this year they are having glass and Metal art. I wonder if I can get a stop there on the way home from dads.

So give me a botanical garden and I am one happy girl.

Get Those Voices Out of My Head #MFRWauthor #MFRW #whyiwrite

Welcome back to the 52weekMFRW bloghop challenge. This is week 26 and we are about halfway now. I feel an accomplishment already by sticking to it and making a habit to blog every Friday. Thus weeks topic is Why I Write.

7 years ago  my disc ruptured and nearly severed my nerve in my hip. I had to have surgery and have the disc removed and my spine fused where it came out as it was so low they felt this was the better option that rods and stuff.  Now I have chronic backpain and that leg is still not the same. It is weak, sometimes it seems to disappear and it limits my mobility and freedom. I also have  asthma and seizures limiting what I can do and now I pretty much can’t go anywhere or do anything alone. Not even go outside to work in my yard.

I was reading paranormal romances and urban fantasies such as Kim Harrison’s Hallows series and Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake as fast as I could get them. I was depressed and seemed like all I did was lay around. One day on the computer I saw a thing about writing books. Something in me clicked. Voices began whispering in my ear.

I began writing on a notepad. Sad thing is my handwriting is barely legible to myself.  I began researching more and more and got into some writing groups and met a writing coach that was starting out and she took me on. I began building  a platform on Facebook and in the meantime jotting down this story in my head. It was an urban fantasy and I have notebooks for 4 stories that are sort of drafted and 2 more partially done in that series alone. Every night in the tub I slipped in my Walkman and let the voices talk to me. Got out and jotted down the story.

I began getting up in the mornings and writing , especially once I found Word so much easier. I would write a while, research a while, read books on writing, outlining, etc. I had a new focus. I had a reason to get up out of bed. I may not have a book out yet but I do have a file full of rough drafts. Another full of Ideas. This year I changed my goals to getting at least one published and changed my goals to self-publishing. The reason for that is another story.

The voices just keep coming from all genres. I cant play favorites so I will write what i feel at the time.

I guess you can say writing saved me.

Romance~ take me away #MFRWauthor #blog challenge #books #TBR

Welcome back to the MFRW52week blog challenge week 25. This weeks topic is favorite books  to read. This is an easy post for me as I read voraciously. Not many nights go by I don’t read. That is how I wind down. I grab my kindle curl up in bed and read till i can’t keep my eyes open~~~or if its one of those page turners until the book ends LOL!

I may have gotten overly zealous when I chose my goals for the Goodreads yearly challenge. I chose 250 books. I am at 104. It says I am  11 books behind schedule. I mostly read books close to 200 or more pages so I need to get busy!

My favorite genre is romance. I like a good escapism and I like almost any type of romance. If I see a cowboy hat on the cover more than likely that’s a click for me. If its a M/M cowboy book even better.

I also like firemen and military men as well.  May?December books are a one click for me too. I love to see older couples too. I love Vampires and shifters. I also like a good paranormal suspense or mystery. I like cute Cozies.

My preferences tend to change but right now I am leaning towards mostly MM but I do read M/F as well. I guess you could say it depends on my mood.

SO you see I read almost anything romance. I do prefer nothing overly, erotic though I don’t mind spice. I also like an ugly cry once in a while and a good humor is always welcome.  The Daddy and Stepbrother books all a rage right now don’t do it for me and the millionaire books I can take or leave… mostly leave.

Since I review I stay very busy and my weekly reading list is so full I barely make time for all the books I buy.  It’s a busy job but hey someone  has to do it right? What could be more fun than reading every day?

What are your favorite books to read? Let’s go see what the other Authors like to read.

Don’t Mislead Me #MFRWauthor #bloghop #petpeeves

Welcome back to the MFRW 52 week blog hop challenge. It is week 22 and our topic is our biggest pet peeve in a book. This is harder than I thought it would be since I read so much. After much thought and deliberation I think most of mine spring from the blurb or pumped up reviews. #1 I hate reading a blurb, gettign all excited and the book delivers nothing the blurb promised. Don’t get me started on the cute blurbs that are just hyped up one liners, such as…A captivating story of love, hurt, romance  and mystery.  Ok, that’s all good but tell me a little more about what this book is about not a generalization. Tell me something about these particular characters and the plot. Make me want to pick this up and buy it. Now once I have it in my grubby little hands nothing irks me more than the story being completely something else than the blurb  suggested. If it says some mystery give me some mystery not one page of a quick rundown. If it promises romance give me some not one scene at the end.

I also don’t like  big words or names in a story. Keep it simple so I don’t have to stop every page and look up a word or try to sound out a name that not even in the dictionary. That kills the flow for me.

Since i am avid book reader I also am picky. If you borrow one bring it back and I hate seeing people that dog ear or leave a book open upside down. Please use bookmarks and put it on your bedside table or where it belongs after reading.

What is your biggest pet peeve in books?

Let’s go see what the other bloggers biggest pet peeves are.

Choices and Changes T.M. Smith #review #top10 #giveaway #allcocks

Love – Loss – Friendship – Family
The All Cocks stories

There comes a time in every man’s life where he has to make a choice between what is right and what is easy.

Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas by open-minded parents, Dean Anderson realized early in life he was attracted to both sexes. Equal opportunity, he picked his lovers based on personality and common interests. He met Maggie in college, fell in love, got married and started a family. And they were happy…until they weren’t.

Adam Chase’s mother is South African, his father American military working at the US Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents’ positions in the South African and American governments awarded Adam dual citizenship, and he attended University in America, at Berkley. In America, Adam is lives openly as a gay man, something that could get him killed in his mother’s home country. He met his husband, Patrick Carter, at college and they too were happy…until Patrick died.

Two lives converge, and it would seem fate is giving them each a second chance at happiness, together. Dean stays in New York and moves into the apartment his son, Dusty, shares with his boyfriend David. He and Adam are quickly welcomed into All Cocks’ vastly growing family. And then one phone call changes everything.

The men of All Cocks learn that death is just another part of life, a road everyone travels eventually. Choices are made, decisions that change their lives irrevocably. They rally together, drawing strength from each other as their close-knit family experiences the best and worst life has to offer. But that’s what families do, right?

MY REVIEW

5 meows 3 purrs (hot and sensual)

Choices and Changes is book 7 in the All Cocks series. You could probably read this alone, but I suggest you read the series to better understand who all the characters are.

Speaking of characters, I love stories about older men. Dean andAdam are perfect examples. Dean is Dusty on of the All Cocks models father. He has recently divorced and moved from Texas to New York. He is bi-sexual, and his divorce and move is amicable. Actually, his ex is pregnant with her new boyfriend, and they are all good friends.
Adam is a Dr specializing in HIV patients. One night Dusty and his dad are at the home the All Cocks owners and Dean meets Adam. They hit it off immediately.
I love this series, and each book gets better and better. This one is a tear-jerker. Just as you think things are smooth sailing then Bam! Something happens that leaves you in shock.
You get cameos from some of the other characters in the series which is always good. I love the diversity of the characters and how well developed they are. I also love watching some of them grow as the series goes on too. Adam and Dean are so sexy and made me swoon.
The story line is interesting, and you have the romance between Adam and Dean then you have a few subplots.
If you like a good tear jerker, older men, Drs, porn models, good comradery, a touch of humor and a great all over romance wth some hot man-sex you will love this book.
