Hi Y’all. It’s been a crazy week for me with fall approaching my allergies have kicked in and I have been dealing with a flea issue, so lots of spraying in the house. Bad for my allergies and asthma. Good that I get to lay down afterward and read all afternoon and evening.
I was thrilled this week when my friend and one of my favorite authors contacted me and asked if I would like a review copy of Resurfaced. I squealed in delight. Scared the cats to death, but man was I happy.
For those of you that don’t know Leslie, she is the author of a fabulous LGBT dystopian, Post-apocalypse series called Refuge Inc.
Resurfaced is a standalone story.

MY REVIEW
The stars of the show–oops– I mean book were Damien a botanist and Patrick is an engineer. They lived in Refuge Inc. and were sent out on a special Mission.
There weren’t any characters that stole my heart. Damien and Patrick are the only two in the book though some are mentioned. Damien keeps mentioning his son Connor and I hope to see his story soon.
This is a very short book without a lot of plot or action. It is a bit dark and very much based on the emotions of these two men.
The most memorable event for me was the end so I can’t tell you what it is. The story is short so read it and see. It will bring tears to your eyes.
The one thing that I didn’t like so much was that the story is so short I never really got a chance to know who these two men really were and the full extent of why they are on this mission. I would have loved this book to have been a little longer. The entire premise of finding life outside Refuge Inc. was very intriguing and I wouldn’t have minded spending another hour or so with these men.
Resurfaced is part of the refuge Inc. series. Though it is not required to read in order if you have read the other books you would understand what Refuge Inc. is and the references to the legends. Plus it’s a good post-apocalyptic series if you’re looking for a new one to read.
If you like an emotional, heart wrenching dystopian story, and post-apocalypse You will like this.
